People need to remember this though when comparing it to BF4 that game will be more demanding then on this due to the fact it has to render more such as you moving at a faster speed shooting and explosions granted this will have mage and the like but not to the extent to BF4. My roommate has a weaker processor then I do he has a i5 and his gpu is a gtx650 ti if I recall with 8gb ram. I have a i7 and a Gtx 750 gpu pretty sure if he can run Bf4 on ultra anything gtx750 and above will be able to run this on ultra. As long as they optimized this very well most people should not have to many issues I am also going to make my Res 1360x768.

I was very excited for this game for a while but i've recently grown concerned after i had trouble running Archeage (huge problem with the graphics, character creator only showed floating eye balls and hair.)

so tell me, how bad does it look.

hello Ted, this guy, , has the exact same laptop as you do, and he is able to run Battlefield 4 on low with his gpu at stock speed. Battlefield 4 uses the same engine as DAI and the two games have similar requirements, the grainy quality is because of his camera recording(he says so himself), it wont look like that. He also claims bf4 looks better on that laptop than it does on xbox360 :P

ps at 0.27 he put up a message at the top left corner where he says the gameplay vid is at stock gpu speed

This is true.  I'm just in the habit of being cautious, it's how I avoid heartbreak. lol It's so much better going into a game thinking lower settings are likely and being surprised that you can up to those graphics (with a stupid grin on your face and babbling about textures/dynamic shadows/LOD rendering to your uninterested/bored husband). <--That's me.  :P

If someone could review my specs real quick and let me know how I'll be fairing that'd be great, thanks!

Timate addressed this pretty well so we'll say Ultra.  At the very least high. I wouldn't worry to much if you're above the recommended specs which is the GTX 660/Radeon HD 7870/R9 270.  I don't know about AMD but nVidia is usually pretty good at updating their drivers to improve performance for popular games.  Even my lowly 425M got updated for Assassin's Creed 4 (not that it helped).

I know nothing about AMD CPUs (i'm Intel all the way baby!) but with your GPU?  Low to medium settings would be my guess.  Leaning more towards medium with your resolution.  Just tweak your graphics if you get any stuttering.

Thank you! I knew I would have lower graphics at first- I built my computer about 3 years ago so the graphics are a bit lower, but I plan to order a new graphics card,  CPU, and RAM on Black Friday to upgrade my computer with. I just want to know that I can play it at first. I'm okay with lower graphics, I just want to be sure I can play it.

Hello everyone,

I successfully played The Witcher 2 on ultra settings with my computer, and apparently the specs of my computer are above the recommended level for DA:I but, since I know next to nothing about hardware, I was wondering whether anyone could tell me how high I would probably be able to go in the settings for DA:I with these specs:

CPU: AMD Vishera FX-8350, Eight-Core

RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport 12 GB DDR3-1600

GPU: Nvidia GTX760 2GB

I already pre-ordered the game on PC, and I know it should work, but I hope I can at least run it smoothly and hopefully close to 'ultra'. :-)

Many thanks in advance!

Definitely high/ultra. You shouldn't have any trouble playing it smoothly, and it'll look really pretty (unless you're playing it at 4k, in which case I'd suggest SLI).

I have the FX-8320 oc'd to 8350 level, they're solid CPUs. Hope this helps! :)

Many thanks, this puts my mind at ease! I have no idea what SLI is, but since I have no intention of playing DA:I at 4k resolution, it shouldn't be an issue :-)

I can't wait for DA:I, that release can't come fast enough!

SLI: Scalable Link Interface. It's joining 2 or more Nvidia graphics cards together to get better graphics capability, and 4k requires quite a bit of horsepower in that regard. If you had an AMD/Radeon card, SLI would be called Crossfire, same thing, different trademark. :)

Now that I got my computer built (replacing one that was 6.5 years old), I may as well do this:

i7 4790 @ 3.6 GHz
16 GB DDR3
R9 295x2
8 GB VRAM

I imagine that will do nicely.

Lol.  I just built a new tower to replace my 10 year old Dell XPS 400.  Except with 2 GTX 780s. Just cause.  :D

Does anyone know if the game is more CPU intensive or GPU intensive?

Or more importantly what pre-release players have found stock cooking temps to be?

I hope I don't have to wait to replace my thermal paste and heatsink which I plan to do in December.

My PC is running 61-64C with other Dragon age games but goes over 65 with Assassin's Creed Brotherhood.

I think I'm running about 10-degrees hotter than usual but it's been relatively stable and with the colder weather the idle temp is OK now.

My GPU runs cool and my MB is 32-35C.

AMD 8350 FX

GeForce 660 GTX (OC model 2GB)

8 GB G.Skill DDR3 RAM @1600 for stability

I plan to run on a mix of high/ultra if that is doable.

I think the magic "safe" number is 80C.  My laptop used to go over 96C all the time when gaming.  It was...damaging. Still works great for everything else just no more gaming on it unless it's old. (Like NWN 2, SWKOTOR old.)

I saw someone playing Battlefield 4 on 720p with that but it's integrated and for gaming you really want a dedicated graphics card.  It's getting rather old now and I'm not sure there's going to be any driver updates to optimize it for newer games.  Gonna have to compromise to run DA:I  Soooo...low settings at 720p.  Turn off the extra "purtty options".

Battlefield 4 game time is available.

You can play the game for free for a week if you want to get an idea of whether your PC can run DAI.

Just bear in mind that BF4's system requirements are slightly lower than DAI's.

I know in SLI or Crossfire it wouldn't. But this is a single card, so I wasn't sure.

However it may be a bit lower but it will be more in the end because BF4 has to register more then DAI will have to its requires the same GPR for recommended and the ram is the same. But FPS have more strain than any RPG all because you have multiple people on the map and gun firing tanks planes and don't forget you move ten times faster in a FPS game then you do a game like DAI however if I can run it on ultra or high then I should be able to run DAI on ultra or high. Smaller resolution also helps.

The R295X2 is just 2 GPUs in one card, so it runs in Crossfire the whole time. And even if you disable one GPU you would still have 4GB VRAM in the end. The 8GB figure comes from each GPU having 4GB but unfortunately it cannot stack.
