It helps.

having a webbrowser open today while gaming takes a lot of ram.

and since ram is cheap with dd3 8gb it allows a smoother experience.

amd already sells 8gb 290x the better option with Mantle as a bonus.
Nvidia has nothing to offer there as Mantle simply allows the better gaming experience.
If one really want a 8gb card that is.

I think I know how well my rig will handle it,but I'm not as technically knowledgeable as others so I'll throw my specs out. My goal is to play at Ultra quality or near to Ultra as I can. At a screen resolution of 1920x1080.

AMD-FX 8350 8 Core at 4.00 Ghz

16 GB of DDR 3 System RAM

Windows 7 64bit

PNY XLR GTX 770 with 4 GB of VRAM

Any thoughts on how well my rig would perform at ultra settings?

There's a camera setting which lets it stay at the angle/position you set it or auto-level to horizon/ground angle when moving, so hopefully using that will help with nausea for you. I suspect when you're driving yourself and not watching someone else it will be less disorienting too.
There's also a graphic setting for (IIRC) spell effects quality or spell postprocess quality, one or two options along those lines (bah can't recall exactly atm), so also hopefully you'll be able to tweak for best comfort!

Hey! Me again. Have those specific options been remembered yet? I was watching the Graphic Comparison vid, and noticed that setting it to Low helps, but makes everything else look not as good. I am hoping it is not this Setting for FX>

Thank you for the help!

good enough.

It depends what system is the bottleneck.

what kills fps are MSAA or such solutions and while Ultra might be a hog the solution is to adjust some setttings that dosnt affect the visual experience much.

4xMSAA for example can cut fps with 25% or more and for anyone to actually see the difference while gaming?

Its one of those things with games, people fear if it can run and seldom if ever is the system pushed beyond what the average user has.

a gamedeveloper dont design the game for 2+ card crossfire and 5ghz 8 core cpu well maybe star citizen does but the dai game can run on xbox.

I've noticed that about AA, it is usually one of the first settings I lower if I'm having any issues. Thanks for the info.

I'm not very familiar with your CPU. The graphics card is up to snuff and if your CPU is as good as I think it is, you should do just fine playing on ultra.

He said he has 4gb of vram. He's fine as he has 16gb of system ram. He'll run the game on high/ultra.

When it comes to games it goes in this order

GPU

CPU

RAM

For GPU:

1. dedicated memory

2. actual card - GeForce series: 80's and 90's are best for gaming. 70's are pretty good for gaming as well! everything under that performs significantly less efficiently for gaming.

For CPU:

1. Type of card

2. Ghz

For RAM

1. 32bit OS is limited to 4GBs (except for Win 8) You want 64bit though for gaming, just so much better

2. anything around 8GB and more will allow you to play most all AAA games smoothly. (As long as everything else is up to snuff)

My specs

CPU: AMD A6 3650 4core @ 2.6ghz
GPU: Radeon R9 290X 4GB (my early Xmas gift to myself. Upgraded from an R7850 2gb card)
RAM: 12gb
OS: Win 7 64 bit

I know I can run the game and am almost sure I can sail through comfortably on high settings. I suppose my biggest question is in regards to my CPU. Is it going to be an issue? I don't really know much about CPU when it comes to performance in gaming.
Most of the new game reviews with this cards are on computers with better CPUs than mine so I'm not sure how I can compare. Can anyone offer a little insight on what I should expect? Thanks! :)

In my experience, you really have to have a really average to crappy CPU in order for it to undermine your graphics card with a good graphics card. The better the graphics card you have the less the CPU matters. It will always play a part and a significant one don't misunderstand me, but for the better graphics cards it can be compensated for a little. If you have an average GPU then CPU matters that much more.

The Ghz is the thing that matters the most, the more the better.

2.6Ghz is good, but I'd say its mid range. What you have is good for today's generation of games, but upgrading should become a thought eventually.

Outside of that, cache and cores, the more the better.

EDIT: Oh and the generation of CPU matters as well. Last gen CPU with 2.6 Ghz will almost always be outperformed by this generations 2.6 Ghz CPU

You're graphics card will hold you back. It won't run smooth at all at ultra, but you could possibly get away with decent performance on medium settings.

The reason it is holding you back is both the generation of the card and the 1GB of on board memory.

The card you have underperforms vs the GeForce 570 GTX which will run this game fairly well but not great on ultra settings. I had a 570 GTX

If I were you, I'd go ps3 or upgrade your graphics card. Everything else seems just fine.

I do think that it is a current gen processor but I'm not sure. I bought the computer back in 2012. But anyway I do plan on upgrading it at some point. The only problem in that is that if I wanted to go with more than a 4 core I think I'd need to replace the motherboard. When I read up on it it didn't appear to be able to support anything higher.
I don't know! Lol. I'm more of a software person.

Thanks for the response. Looking forward to playing DA:I!

I should be able to hit ultra fine right? With no frame issues.

CPU: FX-8350

RAM: 16 GB

GPU: R9 280X - Sapphire Dual-X 3GB

The CPU is not top of the line, but from what I know it should do you fine.

The GPU is comparable to the GeForce 780 and you have more RAM than you need.

I think you'll be coasting, but don't quote me because I am not 100% knowledgeable about that particular CPU. I'm more knowledgable about Intel CPUs and Nvidia cards

If that is the case, then you should only need to upgrade your motherboard and nowadays you can get a really good one for about $60 to $100. Of course that depends on your budget for your PC.

Good luck and happy gaming! Can't wait for release day

Do you think DA:I will run smoothly on Lenovo y580? I consider medium-high settings.

CPU: Intel Core i7-3630QM (@2.4GHz)

RAM: 8 GB

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX660M

Intel Core i5-3570k @ 3.40GHz

What settings do you think i will be able to run the game at? I don't expect the highest, at least not until i eventually upgrade my graphics card.

It will definitely run, but not on ultra settings for sure. Of course I am no expert on the issue, but that graphics card looks to be what will hold you back. The 660M is not the greatest gaming card, but it is better than a lot of other laptop cards I've seen. I suspect you'd get good medium quality.

If you want my opinion, you definitely won't run it on high, but I suspect you can get decent medium quality out of it.

Again, I don't claim to be the end all be all on the subject, but I've built a good number of gaming rigs and I've had to learn these things over quite a few years, so hopefully this helps you

I was wondering if I'll be able to run the game with a mix of medium/high/ultra settings. Someone told me that because of my VRAM I won't be able to play it on ultra even at 720p. I don't want everything on ultra, just a couple of settings maybe. I don't mind playing at 30fps and with AA off if that means I can get some settings on ultra.

Intel i5-3570 3.40GHz Core Quad

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650, 1GB

Thanks in advance!

I think you'll do fine, I can't say ultra due to the GPU, but I think you'll squeeze out medium. I say this because of the 1GB of GPU memory and the fact that it is a 650 and not a 670 or above
