It's really not honestly. I was probably here a total of 1-2 months last year. Kept leaving because everything is just so bleh since the change. Probably end up leaving again in a few weeks. But ofc we always come back. :|
The old activity feed was the best ever, literally spending hours just responding to SUs, uploads, blogs, etc. The feed itself was a better alternate off-topic section imo.
Also, I would like your post but I'm out of likes. Another thing I still find stupid with this "makeover".

Stopped visiting the old BSN altogether during its last two years or so. All those attention seeking drama updates and that constant whining about Dragon Age II and Mass Effect 3 every day just made me have enough of the place.

Colour me surprised when I decided to see if anything had changed... and so it had, into this. Can't say that it is any better now either.
The best time in my opinion was during the old Bioboards, but those days are long gone now.

It's funny because these are all possible on this forum software, but I suppose BioWare doesn't deem it worth the expense. Pity.

I was under the impression that our new community manager is Conal Pierse (the bucket knight as I termed him, everyone else preferred bucket dude), but he doesn't really post anything here that isn't an "update".

I like to think she got scared away after I made her the villain of BSN in my Jagged Alliance 2 thread.

Truth is though, she probably just deals with the social media side of things. Even in previous years, it was Priestly who engaged the forums.

Right now, this place is an afterthought. Which is why I tend to think that the driving reason for functionality not happening is cost, not image. Could be wrong of course.

But the forum is identical to both the Bethesda and the Obsidian forums. That is to say, a basic vBulletin platform without any of the juicy modules (like galleries) you have to pay extra for.
