Jessica Merizan left. Moved on
Ah, didn't know that.
Of course, I didn't know there was a new community manager. I just thought it was all modbots.
Good thing Dermain is tapped in to what's going on around here at least.
Am I the only one that's think of Merizan's response to us in that old thread, "What changes would you like to see to the bsn?"?
>tells her what we want
>completely ignores every single one of our responses
>response with, "Okay! We've reviewed everything you guys have posted thus we're nuking the forums! Thank you so much for the feedback!"
>"NO, WATER U DOIN!?"

It's one of the few things I do know about really.
I'm generally clueless to all of the user-based drama wars that go on.

I believe they still have a version of that thread going on here. The only change that people asked for was the "Dark Theme" which is still in beta, and it breaks every other month for a week or two.
I'm pretty certain all of the improvement suggestions for new BSN get emailed to somebody who is actually now just a skeleton at a desk but the manager never bothers to check so everybody still thinks he is alive.
What if Dermain is secretly the new Community Manager? Maybe that's why he knew of the change and no one else did.
Think about it.
Unrelated: when was the last time that our Community Manager bothered to spend some time at this place? Does she actually do anything here?
I don't believe BioWare has a community manager, anymore.
The position is an experimental one within the industry, and the actual duties and qualifications vary widely between companies. Some of them have decided not to have one, and I get the impression that BioWare has gone that route.

Well, I disagree. They definitely have one - look at the constant updates on the Bioware Blog and on Twitter and Facebook. That's not Mark Darrah on his spare time.
I think Conal Pierse is one of the Community employees, but I think he reports up to the true Community Manager... I'm just blanking out on the name of the guy I thought it was. Regardless, Conal is part of the Community team and yet only has 133 posts on the forums since he created his account in 2013. He has only posted 5 times since February 18th.
It isn't that I think Bioware doesn't have a Community Manger (or even a Community team)... it's just that I don't think they view the forum as their community.

I'm not sure that means that they have a community manager. If you Google "BioWare Community Manager" the only results you get are for Jessica Merizan, and she is definitely not the community manager.

I'm not sure any of that is actually disagreeing with what I said. I said that I don't believe they have opted to continue having someone with the title "community manager." I didn't make any comments about the nature of their relationship with the community.

You're right about forum feedback, but they listened to our Dragon Age feedback:
I wanted a NWN2-esque Castle. They added a NWN2-esque Castle in Inquisition.
My friends wanted Witcheresque Political Intrigue. They added Witcheresque Political Intrigue in Inquisition.
Some asked for Open World-y setting and they added it.
People wanted a better Graphic Engine and not unpolished DA2ish crap and they got it.
But they screwed up other aspects!
So much THIS.Am I the only one that's think of Merizan's response to us in that old thread, "What changes would you like to see to the bsn?"?

I was utterly baffled by it.
I also agree that they don't seem to view us a community and certainly do not want us to be, unless it relates to the games. You know that's all very well, but as I've said before, not ALL of us can sit and talk about the same games over and over. That's no fun. It's great for those gamers who completely surround themselves in the games and can chat all day about game tactics, character depth and lore, but uh. Zzzz.
I came here because I played and loved DA:O and wanted to meet others who did too. I stayed for years because of the people and the friendships I developed. It's just a shame that was not important enough for the Team. Tbh.
Annnnnnyyyyway. I digress. 'Nuff moaning about that stuff. What's done is done.
Anyone wanna rehash the ME3 ending like the good old days???!!!!
No! But my LI is better than your LI, your LI is icky.

David Hulegard has the title of Community Manager know that Merizan is gone.
They've managed to keep that one pretty deeply under wraps!

That... along with another specific issue as it related to a few employees, is still a sensitive thorn that sticks at me even now.
But for many reasons, other than agreeing with what you said, I should probably just shut up.
They've managed to keep that one pretty deeply under wraps!
Who was the guy....
Who always typed like this...
Always like this...

The original nerfduck thread.
Clearly for dramatic effect.
Clever...
It seems...
overdone.
Somehow...
Dumb punctuation
And too many ellipses
Give me a headache.
