Meh, Berserker Reaver Hawke FTWShe likes playing mages far too much, though I can't blame her lol. I have 12 out of 13 DA2 playthroughs as a mage.

I honestly think that out of everyone, Dorian and Iron Bull are most likely to hook up. And I'd love it if they did as well. Other ones I would like:
Josephine/Sera
Josephine/Vivienne
Varric/Harding
Sera/Harding
Varric/Cassandra (a drunken hook up which they both immediately regret the next morning!!)
maybe Cassandra/Blackwall

Carver/Merrill is one of the only ships I CAN support in DA.
She's annoying and ditsy, he's annoying and brooding.
Throw them together and you're likely to get something halfway decent.

The word "deviant" has a colloquial meaning that has negative connotations beyond "deviating from the norm". Let's not play semantics.
Which means next to nothing in Thedas considering no society beyond Tevinter has anything negative to say on it.
And there its only frowned upon because it doesn't produce children.
Well i suppose the Thedosian nobility share a similarity in that regard but the point remains there isn't much stigma with deviancy in the setting, odd isn't it?

I have the fact that he's a prickly douche who hits on Isabela at the same time as Merrill (his attraction clearly can't be that deep) who's willing to join the templars. I neither like nor trust Carver, and would only do so after he was a Grey Warden for a while, by Act 3 (similarly, I'd only want to romance Isabela after fully rivaling her).
I'm so confused. Why wouldn't you trust Carver? Hell, if you side with the mages and he's a Templar, he tells Meredith he won't kill his brother/sister for her, and if you side with the Templars he's horrified: "You can't be siding with that ****** against your own people!" He defends you when Fenris takes issue with your mageyness.
He never betrays Hawke. He's literally spent his whole life protecting them.

I don't think that people here were a little bothered by the use as Thedosians. I think it was the real-life people who don't appreciate being associated with "deviancy" in relation to their sexuality. I can understand the idea from a game perspective, but it doesn't mean that it can't bother people who have to deal with this very implication in their real life. I would just ask that you not associate non-baby making, non-hetero relationships with deviancy. Just my own personal preference and, I think, the same thing that a few other posters were pointing out.

Your joking.
A post that specifically and irrefutably is directed to a fictional in game character is offensive to those who dwell within reality?
A post which by the way uses the very means the those within game view the subject, within it self.
Your would sort of have to go out of your way to get irked by that i think.

You would think wrong, I guess.
Perhaps, but it doesn't offend me and i would be one of those whom "deviant" would be applicable to.
Sensibilities and all differ i suppose.

I remember when I sided with the Templars and Carver runs back from wherever the Wardens are chilling to try and save you. Man, was he so pissed.
Carver's one of my favourite characters in DA2, though, and Merrill is my least, so I'm not sure why I ship them so much. That said I always feel guilty for romancing Fenris or Isabela because I like the idea of them hooking up, but I hate the Anders romance so damn much.

He certainly betrays Hawke by joining the templars to begin with.

Because Hawke didn't betray Carver by going against his wishes to prove himself. Amirite?

He's not a lesbian, Dalish, or mage so in her mind he's 'evil'.

Ha! I've only ever seen this scene on YouTube (having never sided with the Templars myself), but I loved it so much. Carver's great.

Haha! The Anders romance is one I've never been able to try - I just felt too betrayed by his actions in my first playthrough and it's colored every playthrough since. But, I like what I've seen on YT. From a distance.
And oh man, the only thing that bothers me about Fenris and Izzy hookin up is that Hawke was never invited. WTF? Rude! I only ever romanced those two, and they didn't do me the courtesy of asking for a threesome.

I dunno. Carver joins the Templars but he doesn't exactly turn you in as a rogue apostate or anything. Hard to cast that as a betrayal.

I was speaking of Carver, not Hawke. But I don't mind the betrayal so much as I do the joining of the templars in the first place.

No, he's only evil per se if he joins the templars.

Oooor it's another way of watching Hawke's back whilst simultaneously doing something he's good at?

Carver really just resented Hawke and therefore he had little tolerance for the plight of mages. I don't think he actually disliked them on the whole... he was kind of a complicated man. Unfortunately, Carver's negative characteristics tended to be rather prominent, and so his redeeming traits are often overlooked or ignored...
I love that Carver hikes all the way back to Kirkwall if he's a warden when he hears Meredith would invoke the right and feared Hawke would be one of her targets. It's just so sweet.
Then he bites your head off if you sided with the templars. lol.

I'd buy that. If he immediately left Meredith's side and joined Hawke to fight against the Annulment. Which he doesn't.

Yep. Meredith's "wait...Carver never mentioned this..." hit my d'aaww button. He may swear up a storm and swear he's better with Hawke gone but he would actually act on it.

I sided with the Templars when i was finally going for the 'side with the templars 5 times' trophy, which is when I saw it. It cemented my love of Carver! He's abrasive and a jerk at times, but he really does care about you and shows it throughout the game. I always do Legacy early in Act 3 and I love the way his arc moves from Act 1 through the warden encounter, through legacy and finally to his dramatic return in the climax!
I find Anders' romance unbearably cheesy. I think it's because I play Lady Hawkes mostly. I think it works a lot better if you play DudeHawke, where it comes across as kinda subversive and less cheesy. I usually fully support him in the finale, even if I feel kinda betrayed.
My headcanon ending is that Hawke and Fenris sail off with Isabela and they live in a glorious menage-a-trois for the rest of their adventuring days. I'm sure DA:I will interfere with this beautiful image of the future, however.

All Hawke has to do is ask. To want him by their side.

Finding purpose in his life in literally the only thing he's good at? Aveline won't let him join the guard. What else can he do? He doesn't want to be the little Hawke anymore. Get off his back, sis.
