Tempest sounds interesting, the way you put it, and I should keep myself open to that. But if Assassin is anything like the DA2 spec, then I could end up going that route instead. I guess I'll have to see the full trees and perhaps some actual gameplay (have we seen Tempest in action yet?) before I make a decision. Or, you know, try both! :)

*snip*.

At about 10mins and 9/10 seconds you can see Sera activating Flask of Fire- its a Tempest skill. To date, i think that's the only skill we've seen involving the tempest spec.

I was at one point thinking of creating a tempest dwarf, however, the dwarf alchemist in MP i assume borrows skills from the tempest tree, so the sight of a massive male qunari wreathing himself in elemental power is pretty awe inspiring, as if i want to roll a dwarf tempest i can do so in MP.

I also don't think there's anything wrong with a qunari rogue at all. If there is, then a massive qunari twirling a staff about is just as, if not more, silly as wielding a bow or daggers.

I recently played an assassin Hawke in da2, and it was ridiculously fun.
i am a mage player, but have found rogues to be quite fun.

Im just trying to decide on whether my qunari should be a necromancer romancing Cassandra, or a Tempest romancing Dorian or Josie. Whoever the qunari is, my human will be the opposite.

I think it's a nice addition for sure but I have my ups and downs about it. They are tall, massively strong, and the vast majority of them belong to a uniform culture. Playing as a 'special snowflake' (you know that's why the qunari PC is a Vashoth, to keep their slate clean) sort of worries me in the sense that they will be like a human PC with a qunari appearance. Meaning it's only cosmetic with merely a racial bonus.

I don't get that vibe from the other races (Elven and Dwarven) since they have far more fleshed out, established lore and cultures. You've seen Elves and Dwarves that are IN their culture (Dalish, Orzammar) and those who are out (Surfacer). Especially since in Origins you got to play a Dalish/City Elf or Orzammar Dwarf PC. You see the variety that is there. You haven't really seen that with most qunari, not even the Tal-Vashoth (who have been depicted as little more than raiders).

But I'm not shunning it. I have a female qunari mage who will play the role of protagonist in at least one of my initial playthroughs (not first, likely second or third), and a male qunari warrior down the road. I just hope we get to FEEL like we're playing a qunari like we did when we played an elf/dwarf in past games.

The PC isn't a special snowflake for being a Vasoth - it's just that there's no way for the game to work if you're actively part of the Qun. As to the rest, I think it comes down to how much reactivity Bioware put in. On the whole, I wouldn't expect that much of a difference between human/elf/dwarf if DA:O is any indication,

I do wonder how it's going to effect our interactions with Companions. I mean even beyond the obvious like how Iron Bull and Dorian are going to react, how is a Street rat like Sera going to react to you, especially considering she's probably never seen a Qunari before.

Then there's the backstory, yes the explained it already but think about it, what was it like for them before becoming a Merc? With the others we pretty much know, but we don't with the Qunari. They where never part of the Qun, so were they razed by their Tal-Vasoth parents, adopted parents of different race? Where did they live?

There's also stuff like the Ball Vivinenne apparently throws for you, Don't know about you but the mental image of a Qunari dancing in a royal ball is rather hilarious.

I'm really very interested in this character and can't wait to find out what his background will be.  Before they announced that he was going to be from a qunari merc group, I always pictured him as being very un-qunari like, perhaps having been raised in a primarily human town and identifying more with Orlesian (or Ferelden or Marcher) culture than qunari.  Now I need to play the game a bit to see what the backstory is like so that I can role-play him accordingly.  But, yeah, this is really an interesting aspect for this character.

Not for my first playthrough, but I want to play Qunari mage in part since the mages in the Qun would be shackled and leashed if they were part of the Qun.

I like the act of freedom and defiance that comes with being Tal-Vishoth/Sarabas. Take that, Qun. Don't let me find a Tome of the Qun that the Qunari desparately need. They may have some hate and butthurt for the Inquisition when I'm done with them.

I am. I'm still deciding whether to play an Elf or Qunari first. Definitely going to make a Q eventually though! I'm leaning to Qunari because I think they'll have the most interesting interactions with the world.

Hell yeah, I plan on playing a female Qunari Rogue on my first play through for the back stabbing hijinks. Nothing says hello like a dagger in the back.

I think we'll have some leeway with how we can play our backstories.  Some alterations to headcanon (if you headcanon) might be necessary, but I think the origins are supposed to be pretty open this time around.  All we really know at this point is that the qunari inquisitors lived outside of Qun-controlled lands, were never introduced to the Qun, and joined a mercenary group (that, given the name, is likely a mostly Tal-Vashoth and Vashoth outfit).

And, yes, I'm excited.  I'm planning on making my first inquisitor a male qunari mage.
