I would die of laughter if they said our PC was "unattractive"
In KOTOR II, there was one npc who basically said you were too old since going by events they did, they had to be at least in their late 30s.

Personally, I don't feel anyone needs to justify not finding me (or my PC) attractive.

Which is funny in retrospect because I could not imagine a Bioware game today with a character that looked like Mira without her being an LI. And if she weren't and then gave that answer? I can only imagine the seventy five threads being posted about unfair it is!

Of course it was unfair! She was hot!
There world is being over run by demons, i HIGHLY doubt that every single companion will want to take time off of saving it just to be in a relationship
I wonder what KOTOR 2 would have been like had Bioware done that game......

Depends, would they be better at telling Lucas Arts to shove their holiday release where the sun don't shine?

I enjoy Bioware games, but I'll admit I enjoy Obsidian games much more. To me, they tend to do much better in the story/character department, especially in regards to the antagonists. I think it helps that Avellone himself seems to say he usually inputs a lot of his beliefs into the antagonists to help make them more three dimensional.
They're just not that into you. Or has the mind of a child trapped in a corpse.
Is he actually trapped in a corpse?
He dose not have the mind of a child, he is effectively a child.

What I said previously is that Cole is effectively a child -- not that he has the mind of a child.
And that was specifically in the context of being asked about romancing him. Cole is not socially developed enough to comfortably give consent, at least not in the way that we picture it. Others may imagine otherwise, and that's fine, but we're not going to write that story.
That does not apply to anything else, or imply that he is childlike in general. Be careful when you read interpretations about him, and don't mistake them to be things that we've actually said regarding his appearance in DAI.
And his body aged, he has a wide range of sensations, he can bleed, sweat and tears, not a corpse.
Too much misreading about this character, why?

I am glad bioware said no to a cole romance it is just wrong.
Cole is unromanceable for some other complicated reasons, or simply put it: it requires too much foreshadowing to make sense which will be no use for (or probably weaken) the concept they truly want to deliver.
Child mind and Corpse are disrespectful & discriminative false labels have been putting on him for too long, no more, pls...
He doesn't understand basic concepts and is in a rotting body. It really doesn't get any more simple than that.

Finally someone who get it right here. I doubt that Cole is a corpse.
Don't you guys think that Rhys or any other in Asunder would have said anything about it? At leat about the smell if he were one.
Romancing Cole would basically be the equivalent of romancing Wild flower from Jade Empire. Just... no.
Ah but you reminded me of Silk Fox! Now there was a proper kickass LI!
Just a thought as well for the mentions of Leilana not being over the Warden, that would work for me, I romanced her, but what about the people who opted for Alistair or Morrigan or Zevran? A romance may not ever have been in their air in their worlds

It took Kristoff years to decompose. Still a corpse.

I recommend u to read/reread the book.

Cole would be dead for years so I guess if he was dead he would have been as rotten as Kristoff.

I see these Cole has mentality of child posts although his current writer confirmed this isn't true, he's just unable to consent since he doesn't understand sexual things as spirit. Wasn't this what Patrick Weekes said on the issue?
Cole realised in the end of Asunder what he is: spirit. So I don't think he anymore sees world as "Cole". Also I don't want childsoldier to my troops so I'd rather just have him around as spirit.
EDIT: Also Cole is not a corpse! Templars destroyed body of the "Cole" (child who died in the prison) so that anyone didn't catch them for their crime. So Cole hasn't possessed anyone, not a corpse etc.

Yes, that's bugs me off too, sorry, my brains gonna explode but still have no clue...

As others have pointed out, companions don't need to provide an explanation as to why they're not into a relationship. That having been said:
Varric: His relationship with Bianca is still up in the air, as far as we know. Possibly, there's an emotional hurt that prevents him from being able to care about someone else.
Leliana: Aside from a possible past relationship with the warden, she's in another relationship now - she's devoted her life to the Maker.
Vivienne: She's worked pretty hard to get where she is, and might not be willing to risk emotional entanglements (or maybe sharing isn't her thing). Also, since she's so pro-Circle, perhaps she is making sure she's in a position to lead it if it's reinstated.
Cole: Since he doesn't know who or even what he is, how can he get involved with someone else?
why would they give an explanation? they never gave you a reason for not being able to romance joker in ME, or dr. chakwas for that matter, or why we couldnt hit up Aveline or Wynne... why should they start?
Cole is featured in Asunder, and his mental development is very much that of a child - especially about understanding relationships. Which is different from being naive, like Merrill. Cole doesn't have the mental maturity to understand relationships, much less be able to knowingly consent to one.
Also in Asunder it's revealed that Cole isn't really a person... hes kinda like a spirit who was imprinted with the personality of a person... something like that... in any case not exactly romance-able material, what with being from the fade and all.
