Outlast comes to mind as well, and I can't help but feel there have been a few other games over the years that I'm just blanking on at the moment. Regardless, what I said earlier still frames my thoughts perfectly, a black screen or ME1 style are my preference.

The point is still reinforced that male nudity is much less common than female nudity, of which most video games generally tend to endorse.

I still have nightmares of the "black screen with awkward moans" that Fable endorsed as their "sex/romance encounters." I'd personally prefer the ME1 approach as it's just more synonymous with BioWare's Hollywood-esque cinematic approach.

They said that they'll be going with a ME1 approach, implied nudity done tastefully. I think that's the best compromise. That said I couldn't help but think of this when I read the thread title

How about witcher style nudity, like the scene in the rosebath?

and then showing sera and varric outside the inquisitors door.

I don't think any polititian or news station has ranted about that yet.

Two words: wall slam. B)

My favorite was "Isabela's Disarmament".  I imagined afterward she and my rogue were picking up daggers from all over the room. ;)

I don't know. If his butt has a pimp moustache it'd be okay, otherwise there's no way I want to have any perspective of his body that doesn't include that moustache. No moustache, no romance! That would be like Varric without chesthair.

Does that mean Varric has butt hair?

eh, I actually preferred the energetic wrestling and then "Fade to Black" in DA2 to 'awkward sex scenes played to the tune of bad Enya music' in Origins.

If we talk about BioWare and romances (DA romances, I've never romanced anyone in Mass Effect)- it always been all about emotions, gestures  and deep dialogues. I loved that, and "Fade to Black" thing never bothered me. It was perfect.

On the other hand- The Witcher focuses on sex scenes. And I don't really like it, because we have sex and erotic content everywhere. It's just... boring for me.

If they'll (BioWare) include naked sex scenes, then I hope I'll be able to skip them.

Joker..

Buddy... C'mon man..

Are you really gonna' sit there reading your paper and tell me with a semi-straight face that you NEVER.. NEVER once... asked Harley Quinn for a stipper pole dance?

Shenanigans!

I KEEEED! :D

Gratuitous for the simple sake of display is rather a waste indeed. Especially if there is no context, nor is the scene based on any kind of actual interaction of "realism"..(like the aforementioned clothed males)

Liara ME3 romance scene was good. they can take that as a reference.

Got to admire though TW2 approach.....the best romance scenes made in a videogame IMO. Looking forward for TW3. I like CDP for their "not caring at all" attitude they have towards what some bigots or feminist might say. All my respect to them.

Makes me smirk a bit at the "Is it just me or does Iron Bull have a really small head?" thread that's right above this one.......

Who do you think started that thread? Solas of course!

Yes, that was the example I used the other day when a fan brought this subject up to Patrick Weekes.

Just because there's nudity in the game doesn't mean it's nudity you want to see. All the walking corpses are now naked, right? And if there are other equally disgusting demons that happen to have withered breasts or flaccid, rotting genitals or giant fanged vaginas ...

There's apparently nudity in some capacity.

But I wouldn't expect porn if that's what you're asking.

I really dont get this taboo.

When you are 18+ you can have sex legally (16 in my country) and everyone today watches porn from even a younger age. Research has shown just as many women watch porn as men. But you cant show actual sex in a video game even when the age limit is mature / 18+ ?

Also if someone wants to watch porn they visit porn sites. Sex scenes in a RPG (Like DA:I) is just as much about roleplaying, immersion, intimacy and love as it is pleasure. Sex is a completely natural thing and is basically the closest two people that love eachother can show mutual love and intimacy.

I really hope that the reason Bioware decided not to show actual sex (if they dont) is due to animation restrictions making it awkward and not relaying the intended feeling.

Again. Sex scenes in a RPG with a romance interest isnt just about "ooh porn!". If people just wanted to watch porn the internet has plenty. Its about the pinnacle of bonding between two people.

I would imagine so, given all that chest hair. I wouldn't be surprised if his butt looked like a chia pet.

It's rather disburbing the amount of people who still thinks that "mature=nudity".

Then again, it's also rather disturbing that people care so much about nudity/no nudity in a game. Of all the things I value and care about in games, nudity is far from being one of them.

But maybe that's just me.

Yeah Bioware should take inspiration from CD Projekt regarding romance scenes done right. If I recall, Dragon Age Origins and DA2 only had 'strong bloody violence' on it's rating so there is hope yet!

the whole mature thing is for anything ages 18+, so that includes anything from blood, gore, nudity, and any other things you might see in game of thrones or other shows the world loves.  the reason people get bent out of shape about it is, that parents are stupid and buy their 8 year old kid a game that is meant for 18 year olds and when it shows something the parents dont like, they flip the hell out and blame others instead of themselves.  My mother would not let me watch the simpsons at all growing up, i still did, but she was adamant that me and my sister would be trash in society if we watched it.... yeah she gave up when we became teenagers... and thats why im on the BSN, so what else shall we discuss about our childhood?

I have said for a long time that the ME1 sex scenes are my favourite sex scenes from games as they are tasteful yet erotic. The use of cinematic camera angles, along with showing skin, body movements, facial animations and sounds goes a long way.

So if they go that route, i'll be happy.

like cdprojekt romance scenes? Maker no! They are almost completely tasteless and one-sided to appeal to dudebros. Bleh. Bioware has more taste then that..

Equally disturbing that so many thinks wanting nudity is juvenile. I dont want nudity for the sake of nudity, its about immersion, roleplaying and love. My argument being - if someone just wants nudity for the sake of nudity alone - you can just surf for porn :P

But yes I agree with you that the focus on it is too much. No nudity or sex scenes (fade to black) would in no way hurt my enjoyment of the game personally. I think the issue is that alot of people want sex scenes and nudity for the wrong reasons.

I don't think nudity = either mature OR juvenile.  It all depends on how it's implemented.

Also, these references to "bigots and feminists" are pretty questionable.  If someone doesn't want nudity, that doesn't make them a bigot or feminist.  If someone is fine with nudity, but wants there to be both male and female nudity, that doesn't make them a bigot or feminist.  If someone is against female nudity, but in favor of male nudity or against male nudity, but in favor of female nudity, then, yeah, those people are hypocrites, but I haven't really seen too many of them in this thread.  Most people in this thread are either in favor of nudity (both genders) or against nudity (both genders).  Or am I missing something?

CDProjektRed: The Witcher and The Witcher II: Assassins of Kings.

They got it right not once, but twice. Everyone else is (or damn well should be) playing catch up.

We have been plagued with enough of the Z. Quinn's and the A. Sarkeesian's and every other social justice douche who can't pick up a real cause to have to dive into the only real medium left.. that of interactive digital media. There is no other valid reasoning than knowing that it is an art form, and it reaches so many demographics.

"Demonizing" exist for cowards who wish they could fight and conquer, but are too afraid of offending anyone who so much as can't stand the slight of a knee cap! No matter which extreme whines like a child with a full diaper, it is the loss of rational understanding and critical thinking that makes the whole nudity in games an issue that frankly should never have existed.

Enjoy yourself. You know what YOU like.. never force others to agree with you, and never let some ass clown monkey who just fell from another idiot tree convince you you're wrong. So when epic stuff awaits.. be thankful someone was there to make it for you! :D :bandit:

Change may be "good", but progress is ALWAYS better!

Oh look, its the Anita Saarkesian sucks guy. That is on every thread remotely concerning gender equality.

Biggots? Femminists? Woot O.o

Im confused because I didnt consider gender into this equation at all. I've always treated and thought of men and women the same :P

People are people, personality defines a person not gender imo. I pretty much took it as obvious / given that IF there is nudity it includes both genders. It is the reasonable and logical choice.
