Well, we know a great deal more about the different backgrounds for the different race/class combos, and a heck of a lot more about the story. Still less clear about the prologue and whether or not you start playing your character before the big green explosion at the Temple of Sacred Ashes. And since tomorrow is the 1-month-away mark for the first release(and the subsequent abandonment of the BSN to avoid spoilers), I thought I'd make one last thread for planning our Inquisitors before release.

To review, here are the different backgrounds, as stated on the official website.

So, given these starting points, who do you have in mind for your first Inquisitor. Or two. Or ten. Names, gender, class, personality probable romance, probable decisions, overly-long personal history, songs/art you like that reflects their character. It's all fair game here.

Remember folks, it's been more than 3 1/2 years since DAII. I certainly hope that Bioware takes their time until the next Dragon Age, so we can safely assume that we will not have a chance to make up characters with no metagaming for at least that amount of time. So speculate and head-canon away! We won't get to do this for much longer!

It all depends on my Warden/Hawke combos. I want them all to be different. Each Inquisitor will have different world states.

That said, I'm only tweaking their default world state a little for my first playthrough. I'll probably play a Human warrior or rogue. Class is the only thing I'm undecided on.

My initial plan is a female elf, who is inquisitive and jumped at the chance to spy on the conclave as a opportunity to learn about other cultures. I'm hoping that she will see the various world-views of those around her, decide that they may all be wrong and attempt to set up the inquisition as something apart from what has gone before. Dunno how possible all this will be but that's my initial plan.

I still can't decide if she'll be a mage or a dual-wield rogue. The recent cool outfits shown for both classes have not helped to make my decision any easier... I suppose being an apprentice keeper might make a little more sense for her character, but maybe not...

Romance-wise, I'm definitely looking at Sera based on what we currently know, but playing a female elf does have the side effect of allowing for the greatest number of fallback plans. Can't see myself romancing Cullen, mind...

For my first playthrough and main Inquisitor that I will use for multiple playthroughs, will be a human female mage Inquisitor

I will play as a Dwarf, Elf and Qunari in other playthroughs.

I'm so indecisive, I just can't make up my mind on which Inquisitor to play first. At the Moment I keep jumping back and forth between male Qunari archer, female human warrior and female elf warrior. The last few days I was pretty sure I was gonna play the Qunari so I can romance Josephine (I just want to romance her with a guy, I know she's bi), but I just don't get the right feeling for his character when I think about who he'll be and what his Background is besides "Qunari Mercenary". I probably won't stop thinking about this until I'm in the Character Generator on Nov 21th and pick a male dwarf out of frustration before restarting the game for a few times with different characters. Right now I kinda prefer the human warrior, but one week ago it was the Dalish elf, so... meh.

Female Human Warrior: What I really like about this possible character is that she's 100% Andrastian which makes the Herald of Andraste thing work really really well for me + I already know I'm gonna choose the templar spec for her. Not sure about sword and shield or twohanded, both could fit her. I also love the human Background this time around and I have a good idea of how her life in Ostwick was like. No idea who to romance or if I'll romance anyone at all, but that's not a big Problem... I might even go for Josie if I really can't resist.

Female Elven Warrior: Though the Dalish are somewhat cool, I wanna play her as someone who's interested in andrastianism and has had more contact with humans before than the rest of her clan, which makes her the perfect fit for being sent to the conclave. It will also make her question her beliefs once everyone starts seeing her as the Herald of Andraste and that would be a pretty interesting story to explore for me. She would also have access to all the male love interests, so I can choose whoever I like best without any limitations - even the girls if I feel like it. I also know that she'll take the Champion specialization and be a sword and shield warrior.

Male Qunari Rogue: A mercenary, pretty unpleasant, a little brutish and not the most clever person to ever walk Thedas, but good at heart. Something along those lines, but I don't feel like playing hat kind of character atm... I guess I'd have to make him more of a douche for the concept to work better in my mind or something, I don't know. Or I need to try something else entirely with his personality, we'll see. Also he's no Andrastian which makes the Herald thing only half as awesome. I wanted to make him a rogue since neither S+S nor twohanded weapons really fit him, so I wanted to go archer, but now I imagine him as a melee type person... just maybe not with daggers... argh! No idea which specialization to choose either. Big plus: Awesome tall Qunari guy and Josephine romance. I just have the feeling I will regret not playing him whenerver I hear that amazing sexy accent of hers.

I'm conflicted... maybe I should just collect more possible names for all of them and rethink my Qunari dude.

I decided i'll have a dwarfquisitor for my first playthrough. Gender not finalized yet. My class will definitly be a rogue though. Dual daggers for my male dwarf and a Bow for my female dwarf.

Regardless of gender they will both have a good sense of humor and will be capable of making hard choices should the need arise.

I want to see more of Sera before i decide who i will romance though. Cassandra is at top of my list though that could change if they show more of Sera.

After much mental gymnastics, wrestling, and notebook pages scribbled with character planning, I finally decided at least on my very first Inquisitor.

Name- Aeron or Gareth (anyone wanna help me decide?) Lavellan

Gender- Male

Race- Elf

Class- Rogue

Specialization- Tempest

My first Warden was a male city elf rogue, so this 'Quizzy' harkens back to my Origins days. I think Archery would suit him better (being elf and all), plus that 25% ranged defense is nothing to sneeze at, especially on the backlines. May take a talent or two in dual wielding just in case the action gets up front.

I can't say what decisions I'll be making, but I can say that I plan for this guy to be a complete smartass, especially to the likes of Cassandra (if its possible to make her miserable in DAI, I'm going to do it) and Cullen. Basically if someone annoys him and he has the chance to make a verbal jab, he'll do it. Romance wise, I'm set on Iron Bull. First Qunari romance plus I like the whole non-human minority dynamic pairing.

I want to evenly balance races/genders out (though in DAI, its more likely I'll have more female characters due to more available romances, don't like to do the same romance each playthrough, and its probably I'll have more than one female elf since female elf = master romance race). Want to have at least one character per specialization (totaling nine). After that it'll just be what gender/class/romance I like better or what I feel like experimenting with.

Female human mage. Romance option: Cullen.

I will probably name her Yennefer. (I like that character in The Witcher series)

Ever since DAII I cannot bring myself to play anything but rebellious mages.

I'm mostly set on my first two inquisitors, I think.  Beyond that, I'll see how those PTs go before deciding what to roll after these two.  The world state for the first two will be Warden Queen with Alistair, Bhelen on the throne, elves & werewolves both saved, circle saved, all Origins companions alive.  Oh, and the Architect is dead.  For DAII, mage Hawke, Fenris romance and supported the mages.

Into that world state I'll have:

1.  Human female mage (not positive about her first name yet), probably going KE for specialization.  She'll be older, and tried to stay neutral on the mage freedom issue until everything (literally) blew up.  Probably would have been with the Libertarians but not an active member until the Templars were actively trying to kill her (kind of like Rhys in Asunder).  I think she’ll be unnerved by the Herald of Andraste thing, being an Andrastian herself.  Depending on how it the explosion plays out, she’ll probably doubt that it was Andraste that she saw and even if she comes to believe it would still be uncomfortable by the responsibility that would come with such a role.

2. Aodhan. Male warrior, either human or elven (not sure on race yet; will probably be based on which I like the look of best in the CC).  Will probably go with Champion for specialization.  Romancing Dorian.  He will not want to take on the Herald of Andraste mantle – if elven because he doesn’t believe at all and doesn’t know much about the religion as it is and if human then because he was pretty non-religious (despite the family background – would go to services, etc. but did it as a duty, not as a believer) and would feel like a fraud if he took up that title.

If the character creator delivers, then my first quizzy will be a male Qunari mage. Probable romance is Dorian or Iron Bull. He'll be pro-freedom, anti-Qun, pro-mages and a goody two-shoes, as all my characters are (just can't play evil).

The second will be an elf mage, Dorian or Iron Bull romance, who is doesn't think much of humans and their anti-mage attitude and is very protective of his people.

I also want to see what a romance with Cassandra is like (no interest in Sera, Blackwall, Solas, Cullen or Josephine yet), so that'll be my third quizzy. If that quizzy turns out to be a human mage, they'll be resentful of the Circle just as my Origins mage and mage Hawke.

I'm going with a male elven mage... he's a devout worshiper of the Creators and will bear the vallaslin of either Dirthamen, Sylaise, or June, the three that he venerates the most.  He is a quiet, scholarly individual, thus he will be rather confused as to why the Keeper is sending him on a perilous journey to southern Ferelden.  However, his respect for her authority will compel him to obey...  I plan to roleplay him as a reluctant hero who wants nothing to do with humans or their society, but works with the Inquisition in order to protect his clan.  Because he is almost completely ignorant of human culture, he will rely heavily on his advisors and party members to help make political decisions (Orlesian politics, mage vs. Templars, etc).  This Inquisitor's alignment is True Neutral.

Gareth strikes me as a human name. Not a lot of elves with names starting with G. Aeron looks and sounds a little more elven. Go with Aeron,,
