My first Inquisitor has gone through a minor overhaul really. He's now a Rogue instead of a Mage and now headcanoning as of Antivan descent.

Cicero Trevelyan (Though he hates his first name) had little taste of the "arts" of nobility. He felt no appeal to memorize the name of the third daughter of the fourth richest banker in Kirkwall, he felt no appeal for the dances of words that nobility tended towards and as the youngest child he had little to hope for in terms of inheritance or even attention.

It could feel at times that he was the forgotten child of the Trevelyan dynasty and that suited him just fine. Since he had no hope of inheritance, he decided to make his own fortune. Making deals with the local Dwarven Merchant's Guild and overall getting involved with the Underworld that most of his family would not consider worth the investment.

Though given his secrecy in his actions, he appeared more as a slacker disappointment to the rest of the family and in an attempt to get some drive into him, he was sent on the delegation as an observer with the hope that this would spark some sort of drive to serve the Maker and stop disappointing the family.

I have plans for him to romance Josephine most likely, though Cassandra is also possible... Depends on who charms me the most during the playthrough.

No idea what Specialization for him though, if anyone has a suggestion feel free to say so.

Took the backgrounds and gave them a bit of personality :)

Nayllen "nayl" trevelyan

Age:22 by 9:42

Rift mage

Bio: found to be magically attuned at 7 he was taken to the isolationist circle in ostick by his sister who was the KC there and felt it better to watch family rather than by strangers. He was assigned to the first enchanter kristof who was a relitive on his fathers side. Nayl was considered a magical prodigy capable of advanced spells and rituals by the age of 10. After being harrowed at 16 he wrote a paper on the fade and its denizens that gained widespread attention by other mages in thedas earning him his enchanter status.
Was a delegate representing the isolationist frat during the peace ceremony

Personality: sarcastic, witty, lewd/perverse and somewhat arrogant. Nayl was a breath of fresh air in the circle while a prodigy that occasionally acted like a insufferall a** he was never without a joke and always made the children smile

Politic: believes magi and non-magi cant. Co-exist and if they do its very rare but the effort should be made. Sides with magi and the commoners but holds no real affilation aside from the inquisition

Romance: cassandra due to her forceful nature and he was instantly in love when she pulled a sword on him.

Laegneth - female elf mage.

Decisions, romance option will be dependent upon my natural reaction to gameplay situations.

Kara Trevelyan-Human-Female- Rogue- Assassin.  (secod play through) *British*

Kara Trevelyan was born into the most noble house of Trevelyan in the local Ostwick government.  Raised from birth to be everything a noble daughter should be, expected to follow the chantry's laws and mandates to the letter from an early age.  Yet, she hates it.  Borderline atheistic.  Stubbourn, willful, preferring to spend her days out fighting and hunting and camping in the forests rather then attending local balls to woo guys.  Has a deep mistrust of the current political order in Southern Thedas, and everything reflects that.  Despite her brashness and her ability she suffers from a serious lack of confidence.  Thrown into a position of leadership where she does not know if she is the right woman for the job, and often despises the position she is in because of it.  Is confident in her abilities as an individual, but leading a massive world changing organization...who knows.

Her party and her interests will be the rebels, the chaos, the revolutionaries, and she respects people who want to deal corruption head on, and make a name for themselves in that service.  Not only for the local Chantry, but in other people's societies and cultures.  Will romance the Iron Bull (most likely) though she does try and get along with most of her party.

Is funny, and humerous, almost to a fault...maybe as an attempt to distract others from her obvious insecurities.

As far as the decisions she will make, I don't know, not knowing the game I do hesitate.  But she will side with the little people where she can, though often she may be forced to chose what she believes will be the lesser of two evils.  It will be her job to grow into the roll of the Inquisitor and prospser and go from someone who is weak and uncertain, to someone who can be the leader Thedas needs her to be.

Also became dissalioned when her family took her brother, who recently was discovered to have magical talent (Ben), in the middle of the night and spirited him away to the Chantry so no one could find him and no dishonor would befall the family.

https://www.fanficti...an-Inquisitor-1 (Kara's 'Origin' Story)

Benjamin Trevelyan-human-Knight Enchanter- (first playthrough)  *BRitish*

Benjamin Trevelyan is an Inqusitive Inquisitor, though socially awkard at times.  He loves to read and spends hours locked in the library rather then the common areas.  He has a deep seated knowledge of history, and Thedas, and magical theory...though not magical practice.  He has been chosen by a Knight COmmander in Nevarra, because of his relationship with the Chantry, and how he passed his harrowing.

He likes the chantry, and is a firm believer in the Maker, though he recognize the Chantry has some serious flaws to it he believes that one should improve it.  So, his party will be people who more firmly are in line with that belief, and will romance Cassandra.

Is quick witted, though at times very diplomatic, somewhat arrogant, but it will be up to him to find the way through the conflicting paths of order and chaos.  To forge a brand new, and more prosperous world, but not to entirely tear down the institutions of the old one, despite how he might be disillusioned.

Athena-Qunari-Warrior- Likealy Reaver (likely third playthrough)  *American*

Athena is about as UnQunari as a Qunari can possibly be.  Loud, boisterous, humerous, and deeply caring about the people around her...willing to drink them under the table and go under the table with them.  She is quite popular.  SHe was born to a family fleeing the Qun who held up with a Dalish family.  The Dalish Clan was hunted down by the Ben Hasserth and exterminated.  She would spend the next several years wandering, until finding the mercenary company that would take her in.

In keeping with her tradition he tends to focus more on diplomacy then straight up conquest of her peers.  Though, she tends to favor *aliens* in her party.  Especially Elves.  Romance Sera.

Gustav Trevelyan-Warrior-Likely Champion-Likely fourth playthrough "American"

Gustav is a theoretical military genius.  Though because of an injury he suffered in his youth his family forbade him from fighting.  But, that did not stop him from consuming all the texts he could about the matter, and he wanted to learn a great many things about military theory.  Will be more militaristic, though not to a fault.  Will believe in trying to help out others as much as he can.  Believes in his power and is a very devout Andrastian, though he believes in using all of his military out of practicality and not fear and superstition.  He will soon discover the difference between military theory and military practice.  And so his party will model this (for instance he will use Cole).

Should be celibate, could end up romancing Dorian for kicks.

Plan to be Mage Knight Enchanter or Rogue Tempest or Rogue Assassin or Warrior Reaver.

It is hard to choose because I've always been the Rogue type of player. Usually combine stealth gameplay for silent kills and the range attacks for tactical combat if I'm forced into a more direct confrontation.

However, Mages in DA game has been interesting ever since they adjusted Mage gameplay in DA2.

Warrior also interests me because getting the chance to play as a unstoppable fortress of destruction is quite fun.

see i'm very conflicted. I know my first playthrough will be a Human but i haven't decided which sex yet and its really holding me up, i know for a fact my second play through will be a Elf Mage and romance Cullen or Blackwall,

But i cant decide which sex to play first, Cassandra and Sera seem like they just have wonderful romance story arches. i don't know which to choose

Pick Cassandra. :P

I hadn't thought about my specialisation yet. Knight enchanter does seem cool. I haven't looked at the other specialisations for mages yet.

When I first play a game, I plan only one character. Always a male rogue. That's my 'natural' playthrough, where I simply experience the story as it comes with only the foreknowledge that the Bioware has released beforehand.

So my male rogue is named Corin, he's got dark bown hair and the brightest green eyes I can find. He'll wield daggers and probably romance Cassandra. I've got a backstory prepared for him, based on what has been set about his background. Also have his personality fairly mapped out. but I'll let it change based on what happens in the story. If my protagonist doesn't change throughout the story of a Bioware game, I feel like I've failed, for some reason.

In addtion to planning Corin, I've done prepalanning on the next 30 characters I'm considering playing. To pass the time. Some of them are pretty cool, and almost make me want to play them first. But I like metagaming, so I'll hold off and play Corin first.

Gonna go with a Human Rogue first. My main party will be Me - obviously - Cassandra, Sera and Solas. My romance choice will be Cassandra and I'm going to be a good guy - saving everyone and kicking some ass doing it.

I have 2 quizis =)

First 1:

Zell Dragmire, Human, mage (necromancer) becoming inquiz 22

Zena Dragmire Elf, rogue  becoming inquiz 17

A young but powerful mage at the age of 10 he was found while he was killing a mercenary band when they attacked his village, the templars that got to the village shortly after the attack began was shocked to se the horror that been had been inflicted by both the merceneries and the child, he killed the mercenaries one by one ruthlessly with the dead to aid him. His eyes were like a snakes, burning with intense hatred. They tried to talk to him but to no avail as he got all the more unstable, not attacking cause he seemed to protect something.

Curious the Templar leader the most calm and collected of them said to his companions to stand down and leave the room to search for other survivors, so they could "talk", when they were alone the boy semed to calm down sensing that the man mened no harm, the man asked him what he protected but was interupted by a small scream, when he looked up a small child was running towards him with impossible speed for a child, he dodged the attack and saw the boy instantly appear next to her shielding her. The boy lost his cool and sended his "army" of the dead against him believing he would harm the girl.

Both of them had the eyes of those that has lost something great. He looked at them and saw that they were not the same, the boy was a human for certain but the girl was an elf. He mad a quick decision and ran towards them with astonishing speed knocking them unconscious in a second. When his companions returned they told him that all others had been killed, and that the women had probably been raped and killed possibly infront of the kids. They assumed that the people that the boy have been possessing was his parents and family cause there were both human and elven corpses around.

Which in turn could be the trigger for their unstable nature and change of eyes. He ordered that both of them would be sent to the circle to be treated and to have their memories wiped to make their lives easier. The boy would stay there to be trained in case he lost controll again, he would have the chance to regain it, as for the girl she would be sent to the elves to be taken care of by her own.

Unknown to him however both of them are biological siblings.

Think of this like Luke and Leia in star wars sibling separated early.  (cept the gory parts)

I have no idea how to continue this now  :)

Sorry for bad english and all

Of those 30ish characters, I'll probably end up playing 10-15 over the next 5 years. I come up with WAY more characters than I ever actually play. 30 was just a placeholder number, to be honest. I have no idea how many possible Inquisitors I'll come up with by the time Inquisition comes out.

And, in answer to your question, no, I do not intend to be finished by the time DA4 comes out.

Reading all these in-depth posts about inquisitors makes me realize how truly unprepared I am for character creating.

I merely have their races, genders, and slight backstories floating about on a couple pieces of notebook paper. I don't even have proper names chosen for them, one of the things I'm the worst at. I never get completely into them until the games are released, because there's nothing worse than having an image get destroyed by lack of commodities for creation. I make them in-game, then tweak them to my imagination otherwise.

First Inquisitor: Female Dwarf Rogue, specializing in bows.

Second Inquisitor: Male Qunari Mage.

That's about all I have to share for the moment.
HEAVY SIGH.

Whatever works for you is fine... :)  The personality and morals are probably all you really need, since a lot of the character's background is chosen for us in advance (elven hunter, qunari mercenary, etc).

Heck, I didn't even have a backstory for my PC until I wrote it down in this thread... I still don't have a name though...

I'm telling you, naming these characters is one of the most difficult tasks about creation.
The names have to be just right, otherwise, the character's themselves are completely thrown off balance.

I agree completely.  I used to be good at coming up with names, but after making so many characters in so many different games, the well has run dry...

Nope. I honestly have nothing and can't think of anything. I've never been this detached from a Bioware protagonist before.

And not even one of them still sounds good?  Doesn't that mean that each of them was too specific, regardless of how many there were?

edit: also... 50 concepts???  Good grief!   You must have a pretty powerful imagination...
