And not even one of them still sounds good?  Doesn't that mean that each of them was too specific, regardless of how many there were?

edit: also... 50 concepts???  Good grief!    You must have a pretty powerful imagination...

That or the game itself is too restrictive on the options available for the Inquisitor.

Yeah, I have a pretty good one. ^_^

The qunari is probably the least restrictive since it deals only with the PC's job and doesn't make mention of any relatives, motives, or cultural practices.  Mercenary is morally neutral and is a fairly standard occupation for adventurers in fantasy stories... perhaps you could start from there?

Dwarf Warrior, since I won't ever make a Dwarf that romances a human or elf, this allows me to play the game without thinking about romantic content and I can actually get to know each companion before committing to someone who looks "pretty" or whatever.  On future playthroughs when I know each companion I can perhaps start a romance run.

I'm not 100% set on a worldstate yet, except the Warden will be king and Alistair will be wondering drunk.

...

It's a month until release though.  You have no plans at all?  Not even a basic idea?  o_O

Just the class, perhaps?

Man, Icy. You yell at me for planning 30 Inquisitors, and you yell at Kallen for having none at all. Can you be satisfied at all? How many is just right to avoid critisism?

Spoiler

lol... well both are kind of extreme but you do have a point... :P

Kallen has you beat though... turns out there were actually 50 (!!!) concepts that just didn't make the final cut.

I only have the one confirmed.

I had around twelve originally that didn't make it for one reason or another though.

I have... 3 that I will definitely be using... and then... 4 concepts that I might never use.  So I came up with seven in total.  Mainly I just wanted to nail down the first playthrough.  The rest will likely be altered based on what I learn about the plot from playing the first time, but they tend to be pretty vague, so I might not need to change much.

I have 3 concepts and I really like the Dwarf one best. A man who's been forced into illegal service his whole life is able to become more than what he once was? To be a hero? TO SHAG A QUNARI AT LEAST 5 FEET TALLER THAN HIM?!

That beats Noble thief pressed into heroic action and grumpy lesbian merc any day in my opinion. But I'll see what happens.

I suppose.

I just wish I liked the appearance options for them more.

Over 50, actually. I'll have to look for the exact number.

Well, I just did the math here: If you had had characters based around a mere 4 factors: Gender, race, class and romance, you have a possible 114 Inquisitors from those factors alone. That's a scary thought. Imagine trying to complete that many.....

*Playthrough 1* Wow, this game is awsome! I love playing this! Iron Bull, my Qunari mage is lovin you.....

*Playthrough 10* Well, I haven't tried a Blackwall playthrough yet. I guess I'll do this one with a dwarf rogue. Female, of course.

*Playthrough 33* Hmm....ok, I have done a Dorian romance three times, but not with a human warrior. I guess I can check that one off the list.

*Playthrough 58* Well, I've done a Cullen-mancer run with a dalish mage and rogue. Mind as well do the warrior to complete the set.

*Playthrough 82* Wait...I already did a dwarf/rogue/Sera playthrough. I just wasted 20 hours of my life! FUUUUUUUUUUU---

*Playthrough 99* Uhh......ok.....Male/Qunari/Rogue/Josephine. Never thought of that one before. Start up the ole' Xbox One. I really need to upgrade to next-gen soon.

*Playthrough 103* Man, who knew 2026 could creep up on you so fast? I'm so close! Male/Elf/Warrior/Cassandra playthrough, here I come.

*Playthrough 110* Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit methamphetamines. Let's go, you male elven rogue #Bullrider, you!

*Playthrough 119* What do you mean, I've done this playthrough before, Other Me? I'm not crazy. You're crazy. When are my grandkids supposed to call today? I don't have them? I'd have sworn I had a few with Solas a couple decades back.....

I'm pretty sure I've done at least 90% of the possible combinations for romance options in Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Dragon Age 2. And not even on purpose!

Once I learned you could soften Ashley in ME1, she became my reason for playing it three more times.

Name: Noctis Trevelyan

Sex: Male

Age: 28 by 9:42

Race: Human

Class: Necromancer

Bio: Removed from his life of privilege at age 8 and thrown into the circle Noctis had a hard time adjusting to his new life in the circle, At first he thought his family would return for him that this was all some sort of mistake, as such he didn't bother to make friends with "commoners" his attitude of being superior also earned him a harder hand by His Templar keepers as well. By the time he came to accept his fate he found most of those around him had come to resent him for the way he treated them and he still wasn't used to doing everything himself. As such he retreated into study, while others around his age showed great magic skill and understanding he did only as much as he was asked. It was clear the boy had great potential but many believed he didn't apply himself.

When he turned 15 everything changed one of the apprentices had a mental breakdown and went nuts, she caught two templars unaware and they were engulfed in flame before they could even react. In all, 3 apprentices died and another templar was mortally wounded while putting her down. As others ran to get an enchanter Noctis, pushed his way past the Templars and with all his strength brought back the Knight from the brink of death. Most of those around him believed it was a standard (albeit powerful) healing spell, that young Noctis was destined to become a spirit healer. But Both the knight commander and the first Enchanter new otherwise, this was magic Apprentices should not have access to........ this was Necromancy! What happened next was unexpected, rather then being punished for studying restricted knowledge Noctis was told he was to undertake the harrowing. Why is not known, Rumours spread quickly. Some said the first enchanter was secretly a Necromancer himself and so protected the boy out of kinship, While others suggested the Knight commander agreed as a thank you for the boy saving his secret lover. Some Templars whispered about possession and manipulation through blood magic. But the majority believed that without solid evidence, Any punishment would risk angering the senior magi (tempers had already been frayed after the removal of First enchanter Bader's portrait from the Dining room, in favour of the Divine Beatrix the III months earlier) and as such Young Noctis was thrown into the harrowing as an easy and politically acceptable way to be rid of the boy. Whatever the truth Noctis survived his Harrowing, the youngest ever (at least in the Ostwick circle) to gain the rank of Magi. Many believed that would be the end of it. But far from it, Noctis continued to withdraw into his books and study. Never going down the path of becoming an enchanter, Now a full fledged mage no longer hid his necromancy practising it in full view of other Magi (and begrudgingly not in front of apprentices) Again rumours were abound, Some claimed he was mentally scared by being put through the harrowing at such a young age. Others claimed that Knight Commander threatened to Annul the entire circle if a Necromancer was made an enchanter. Noctis seemed enjoy these rumour and often pushed the Knights around him as far as he could without breaking any rules.... or if he did there certainly wasn't any evidence.

When the circles collapsed Noctis was Suddenly thrust into the role of leader when his necromancy proved to be the deciding factor in the battle. But he still proved unflinching in his independence showing a lack of sympathy for his fellow mages he left the injured and frightened he simply backed his gear and left. Taking only those that could keep up with him. Rumours Abounded that he and his band of Magi delved deeper into the necromancy to hide themselves from the templar hunters and often tracked and hunted Templars themselves. But these were no heroic stories, they say they often remained hidden, Waited until templars exhausted themselves against other magi before attacking. Often not even bothering to help the injured Magi, instead robbing them of their possessions and leaving them to their fate..... Needless to say when he showed up at the Summit, alone, saying he wanted peace it was a great shock to many.

Personality: Despite his reputation of being Quiet and withdrawn those in his company find him very social, Often sarcastic, with a dark sense of humour, not many "get" his jokes and even those who do don't find most of them funny. His often cold and callous, And yet he often will put himself or others at risk to save people in peril. Only to chastise them for being stupid or useless (sometimes both) once the situation calms down. It seems time fighting for his life changed Noctis no longer a quiet and withdrawn character.

Politic: He considers Magi superior to Mundanes. Often scoffing at anyone who doesn't support his views believing them "Blind" and yet despite this rather strong opinion he does not have a strong defined political outlook. He cares nothing for who's in charge, how things are run. Nor the chantry, his politics rarely extend beyond himself. So long as he is free to be able to go and do whatever he chooses he doesn't care seem to care what happens. However his time fighting for survival in the bush being hunted and in turn hunting as had a profound effect on him, He will side with other Mages over anyone else, even if he doesn't support their goals. Perhaps this is why he was at the peace summit, Not necessarily because he supports peace, But simply because enough magi did. A queer outlook considering he has searing hatred of Templars. A Hatred that is only begrudgingly held in check when to do otherwise would place him in danger. He believes anyone who's willing to die for their beliefs to be an idiot, As far as he's concerned the idea is to make someone else die for theirs.

Romance: Noctis is attracted to Vivienne a strong Independent woman and strong Mage, He respects her knowledge and personality, But holds her pro chantry, pro Circle view worthy of scorn, Still his feelings may run deeper then even he is willing to admit. He restrains himself from mocking her beliefs not out of any sense of survival of political expedience, But rather because he doesn't want to hurt her feelings. Such concern for others feelings is not something he's experienced before and it makes him uncomfortable.

So much to decide.

I have 5 Inquisitors planned out already, now I just have to decide who to play first XD

I also need to decide what Warden and Hawke combos I will use for what Inquisitors.

I had planned to read and play all DA stuff before DAI but I still haven't read the Masked Empire and Last Flight (nor the comics) and I haven't played Mark of the Assassin but I guess I don't have time for that all ^^;

I have no idea which inquisitor i will play first. Indeed I've come up with so many inquisitors that I've had to do some major culling.

#1. Dalish female mage.
Her talents lay in storm and winter magic. She views the inquisition as the chance to provide a better life for all elves, be they dalish or city elves.
In her dealings with non-elves, she is quite respectful much like Marethari, however her fury in battle is that of the storm.
She is curious about the unique abilities of the elven mage Solas, and learns how to summon matter from the fade itself. She also enjoys the company of Sera and hope to teach her the ways of the dalish.

#2. Human necromancer. Michal has a gift with magic involving spirits. He has focused his training in the spirit school of magic, hoping to one day be a great spirit healer like Wynne, a hero of the fifth blight.
However, as the war between Mage and Templar has erupted, he has found amidst the chaos that he has deadly aptitude for pyromancy, and has needed these talents to defend himself from both Templars and maleficar alike.
During this chaos he also hears the spirits of the fade who are interested in death. This would normally concern him, however, an affinity with spirits could allow him to be able to use them to better protect himself....and his allies.
He admires Cassandra, both for her strength of character and for her incredible beauty.

#3. Qunari Knight Enchanter. This young tal-vashoth has a great affinity for the magic of the inferno. During his time as a mercenary, he had ample opportunity to hone his natural abilities.
As the inquisitor, he has come to learn the fury of storm magic from Dorian, and has seen the power Vivienne wields, encouraging him to seek the mastery of knight enchanter spells and skills.
He may romance Cassandra, Dorian or Josephine.

#4. Human Archer Tempest. His skills with the bow rival that of any dalish hunter, and relishes the opportunity to show off his skills.
He has an interest in alchemy, and wishes to learn the secrets of a Tempest rogue.
He too can utilise the power of flame or frost and without fear of possession... unlike his cousin in the circle.
In the mage and templar war, he sees both the good and bad on both sides, and will always try to help those who are good.
He will be a bit flirty, with any race or gender, but ultimately Dorian, Cassandra or Josephine will steal his heart.

Ultimately id like to he able to choose 2 of the 4 ....but i like all 4 of them ;D

You mean you're not going to play all of them at some point? Or are you going to play it once and reevaluate the other three?

Most likely play through as 2 now, then replay the other two when all the DLC is out.

Sigh, i just came up with a two handed sword using Qunari Templar. Damn it.

Which character do you think sounds cool for a first play through? Im totally stuck.

Human male warrior solidified as first.

However I am delaying my second human male playthrough in favor of playing a human female mage... for... obvious reasons. :P

I'm thinking the tempest, since he's not a mage. In the Dragon Age world, it always seems best to experience the world from the point of view of someone who has no magic in their veins.

I'm almost put off about being a human or Qunari anything first because it's kind of played out. In all the gameplay videos, you've been one or the other!

Dwarf Male Templat, Qunari Female Knight Enchanter, or Elven Female Tempest are what I'm feeling but my mind will change on game day.

I have two characters planned out with somewhat heavily head-canoned back rounds.

I have pages for these two but in summary:

Nicholas Trevelyan.Warrior. He'll have a very severe intimidating demeanor due to a strict upbringing, but also with a softer caring side due to more loving influences by his brother and nurse maid. I planned for him to be about 37 with his two older siblings only one or two years older. I'll just rationalize this by saying papa and mama Trevelyan wasted no time doing their duty and popping out heirs. From what i've seen Nick and Cassandra will be like two peas in a pod, but Josephine may catch his heart instead.

Backround: His parents decided early on he would become a templar and so from a young age he received the best combat training his father could buy. However as Nick got older he began to fear the possibility of becoming a thrall to lyrium and once he came of age he refused to join the templar order. Instead at 18 He left his family home and joined the Ostwick city guard to make use of his learned combat ability to help the people. Nick remained there for many years close to his family yet only seeing any of them rarely, until one day hes summoned by his father.  Papa Trevelyan asks that he attends the peace conference as he realized of his children the young black sheep was unfortunately the best suited to make it there and back safely. Nick, still retaining a sense of duty to his family, agrees.

Anerin Lavellan: Rogue. Mid to late thirties. He'll come off as cold and somewhat rude, but will also be the most level headed dalish one could hope to meet. Anerin couldn't care less about reclaiming some lost mythic elven homeland nor does he wish death on all the shems for whatever they may have done to his people long ago. His only real triggers are demons and the mistreatment of elves. He probably won't romance anyone as he has every intention of returning to his clan after the breach is closed, but we will see.

Backround: Anerin was born in the wilderness to two clan less elves, one of whom (his mother) was a dangerously inquisitive mage. When he was young his family discovered an old shrine that his mother couldn't help but investigate. Unfortunately a demon was trapped and there and tricked her to free it. Anerins parents fought it off and managed to seal it away again, but the struggle cost them their lives. Alone and traumatized Anerin walked through the woods until being found by Lavellan hunters and taken to their keeper. Many were suspicious of the boy but the keeper accepted him into the clan and came to treat him as her own. He was raised to be a deadly hunter and fighter and taught the undervalued virtue of self-restraint by the keeper. He took this to heart and became known among his people for remaining calm and collected no matter the situation. This trait made him the best choice to send to the peace conference.
