Well I don't play MP, but it doesn't bother me that it's there as long as it isn't somehow required to unlock something in the single-player game.  I'll never buy a game that pulls that crap again.

Are you suggesting that you only want to play the multiplayer component?

[...]

It's not up to me to tell you how to play the game, but you should know that DAI is not a modular program. You buy the whole product and that's the way it is and always has been.

I want to play both. I'll actually have to pay for both, single and multiplayer, which each took time and money to develop.

Then they go ahead (if it's anywhere like ME3) and sell a f2p multiplayer component, although I already paid for this?

Like someone said before, if they want to make a f2p game, no one would have a problems with it. But charging people first and then deploying f2p exploitation techniques to monetize on them multiple times over again is a very poor practice.

You do realize that every study on the subject concludes that most people in fact DON'T spend ANY money on free-to-play games, right? the fact that you are impatient or have enough disposable income is one thing, but the VAST majority of people play these games without ever paying. So really, it seems your problems is with Multiplayer games in general. I mean, do you complain when you pay 70 dollars for CoD only to have to level up to unlock the guns? **** no, because they dont even give you the OPTION to buy it with real money.  But yeah, bioware doing pretty much the exact same thing, but ADDING the option to buy progress if you want to, is suddenly horrendous, allright.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Dragon Age Inquisition falls under the "buy to play" category. You're paying to purchase the game as a whole, this includes the single player and multiplayer experience. The game doesn't cost any more than other AAA games being released unless you want to get the limited or Inquisitor's edition. Multiplayer cannot be bought separately and there aren't subscription fees. Platinum is an alternative option to earned in-game gold, used to buy in-game packs. Microtransactions aren't necessary to play the game and provide no bonuses or increased chances of getting better loot. At least, that's if it's following what ME3MP did and didn't increase the chance of better loot for paying with real money/BioWare points.

I went through my whole ME3MP experience only spending about 320 BioWare points on packs because I had no idea what else to spend them on. My manifest wasn't the greatest, but I did spend about 400 hours or thereabouts in Bronze - as that's what I enjoyed. The only thing stopping me from going to Silver or Gold was myself, not my equipment. Overall I spent over 500 hours on the MP side of the game, and for the money I spent on it (about $150AUD for two copies, one was a release day CE), I think I got my money's worth just on the MP aspect alone.

Seems like to me we're getting a good deal, but to each their own.

I don't think you understand how ME 3 MP worked. ME 3 MP was not F2P. Nor will DAMP be. True F2P is not a model currently used for Mass Effect, although they do incorporate microtransactions into the model that they use.

It wasn't poor practice, it worked quite well. It was considered a bigger-than-expected success. The people who played ME 3 MP over the last 2 years were quite happy with it. Once the "play it to unlock readiness" issue was put to bed (which did take them a few months to fix) literally no one had to play it, or pay for it, and it wouldn't impact their SP experience.

BioWare's F2P game is Star Wars: The Old Republic, not Mass Effect. It uses a different business model. Unlike Mass Effect, you don't have to buy the game, but you can choose to.

If the inclusion of multiplayer and single player in the same purchase bothers you so much that you choose not to buy the game, that is your option, but don't feel sorry for those of us that enjoyed ME 3 MP. We didn't suffer for the experience, that's just you projecting your issues onto the entire community.

I just dont get why Bioware didnt sell themselves to Bethesda instead. Bethesda + Bioware wouldve reigned supreme imo. The EA + Bioware merge makes no sense :P

I would rather have a GECK than a DAMP for DA, that's for sure ;)

I do not understand your reasoning.  You do not have to spend a single dime in MP on ME3.  Everything from the kits, weapons, mods, EVERYTHING is available to you, however you must play MP in order to earn credits.  Those credits can then be used to buy packs which (hopefully) unlocks the items you are seeking to earn.  Is it a Grind? Sure.  You are suggesting that in order to access ALL of the MP components then you have to pay REAL CASH but you absolutely DO NOT.  Maybe it is just me, because I found ME3 MP very fun and engaging thus earning credits from the matches was just second nature to me.

Mass Effect 3's multiplayer was the most tack-on piece of garbage that I have ever played. It was so boring and I only played it to get the galactic readiness up. Those Mass Effect 3 packs was a dumb idea and I feel sorry for anyone who paid for those packs with real money.

I don't know if it's been confirmed, but I really hope that DA:I's multiplayer is not essential to get a a certain ending in single player. Because I will be pissed off.

This is your opinion of course, and you are very much entitled to it, even though I strongly disagree with it.

You can read all about Dragon Age: Inquisition's multiplayer here on their website: SP and MP are not tied together.

EA has a mandatory online component for all games.

Basically this. And that 'online component' always invariably translates into multiplayer.

The last single player-only game EA published was Kingdom of Amalur, which released Feb 2012. Everything they've pushed since then has a full-fledged multiplayer mode.

It's an easy cash cow, especially with the random reward boxes that have proven to get certain people with money to throw thousands of dollars out of the window for a chance to get a special hat.

Aside from that particular aspect, which I intensely dislike, it will be a great addition if fun.

It also sort of makes sense to add MP dungeoncrawling to a game like this. Guess what most players spend their time on in a massive MMO like TOR? Dungeoncrawling through instanced content, even though it has massive open world environments as well. It saddens me a bit, but with the mmo-like combat of the Dragon Age games, it sort of makes sense to add that popular content to multiplayer.
