This thread rocks! And rocks of the finest calibre indeed like ruby, emerald, diamonds, clear saphires or the clouded ones... (ehm. Sorry, got carried away ^^' Don't mind me, I'm just a girl that knows her gems a little too well, LoL)

It's just that when speaking of elaborate masks and extravagant dresses one cannot seperated it from the fine materials it is made XD.

And yep, looking forward (and nervously) for that grand ball. Excited at the prospect of attending a masked party, but fearing the worst of having to attend said party with an atrocious gown.
In fact, I already have a head canon of mine where the human nobles were expecting my non-human femQuisitor to fail the social event badly so they can laugh at her in an arrogant manner for being a 'peasant'. Hah! Think again.

The moment she enters the room, they will all be batting their eye lashes at her and wished that the 'beautiful exotic Inquisitor' noticed.

All I hope is that we'll get a mask. We may be locked into outfits, but I want to choose whether I wear a mask or not (and I will).

 

Ha Ha....I'm gonna be a Qunari...I think I may need a Special Mask for the event to hide tha Horns ! 

I'm just gonna slap on a headband and call it a fancy Hat from Vivienne. No one will ever know...

 

Perhaps the crafting system will let us make some fancy robes for us to prance around in. I for one musn't look awful while fighting a dragon with Vivienne. Quite beneath her, if you ask me.

In terms of mage robes, I've seen a couple trenchcoats but nothing more..... I am eager though. I hope to get something like Vivienne, especially considering she even gets a breastplate.

 

Actually that would be a cool idea . To craft our own Mask !! 

 

I dunno how far the crafting will fit wit this event though..........

OOOOH... crafting our own mask.... ohhhh. Don't tempt me.

When I think of the Orlaisian masks the image that comes to my head is venetian carnival masks. As those style of masks are more of a full face mask. When you see images like the ones below it makes me think more of the extravagance of Orlais.  That is some of the extravagance I hope to be able to see in Orlais.

You plan on being a leper? Though Baldwin the 4th did have an awesome costume in kingdom of heaven so I hope that a warrior can look like him or perhaps we might get a guy that looks like him as an NPC chevalier.

Well... since Orlesian Masks are a worn by members of a household (and their servants, a less extravagant version) and things like the Chantry who "aren't part of the game" don't wear masks because they're above the squabbles... we can only assume the Inquisition would also have no need to wear masks, and wearing one would send the wrong message.

Just saw this on the twitch gameplay of Dragon Age inquisition. Looks like our Inquisitor will have everyday clothes. What do you think about it? It's not very Orlesian... it's not a dress either... but it looks very nice!

Still, Hawke outfit is my favorite so far

If you play on PC and you don't mind Mods . There is a mod on the nexus that give you a wide array of colors to choose from , and the outfit is still the same but with brighter colors

I like it, but hate, hate that color! I want to color things. 

 

 

besides, thanks to this mod, I had my hawke wear something more elegant like one of these dresses.

Mods are fun. I didn't use many for dragon age 2, my favorite mod though is ivey's hawkes family. Because well I got to have my lady hawke and bethany both be a redhead or blonde or light brown, if Though for Mask of the Assassin I used a mod to give me a more fancier dress, I was at an orlaisian party so I should look the part; there were 3 different versions, I chose opition C btw.

That's a thing I can't understand. hy a bunch of players can create mods for dresses and all that, but the developpers can't (or don,t want to...)

its a time and resource issue. Modders have time and theorectically a infinate budget so they can do things that the devs cant due to time/resources constraints

Almost wish i played pc but im happy with my 360 XD

That pretty much.  While it might be nice to have more casual outfits, I would rather them focus on finding bugs or implementing things in other parts of the game.
