Bethany is one of my favorite characters and in all my completed DA II playthroughs she lives and becomes a Circle mage.  Not going to subject my sis to the darkspawn taint. 

 

So I would love to hear about her doing well in DAI...but I don't have any expectations.

Well, the devs confirmed that there will be some NPC flirts, but the 8 romances announced are it.

Inquisitor's awkward introduction with Hawke:

Bethany never died in any of my playthroughs, but even more importantly, the only times she ever 'died' was in a story told by Varric to Cassandra, which could easily be explained away that Varric made up that Bethany died to protect her from the Templars looking for her.  So she never 'has' to be dead, in any storyline.  That said, it would be nice if she was an LI, but it would also be nice if she was a teammate.  I say Bethany for Teammate in the Expansion!  Then once that happens, the romance would logically follow .

That would be extremely annoying to me.  I really hope that they don't use the "Varric lied" excuse for any reason in DA:I.  Hopefully DA2 will be the only framed narrative in the series, so once DA:I is over, we won't have to worry about that anymore... we'll still have to worry about normal, unexplained retcons, though...

Oh you jinxed it now...

 

1) Guardsman Donnic was really the codename for the pusher you got to hook Aveline on smack.

2) You never executed Anders, even when you did, Varric convered for you.

3) Your pro-templar Hawke was really pro-mage, the Harvester was really a ploy so Orsino could sneak off.

4) and... Fenris was the real Magister all along!

Sten i left to rot in a cage = end's up running the Qunari war machine.

Killed Wynne = end's up being the deciding factor in a major plot point leading into DA:I

Cut leliana's head off = ends up as hand of the devine.

gave varric a idol that sends people insane = no ill effect's.

Anders found dead with an arrow in the neck surrounded by darkspawn = undead prince of chantry destruction

 

at this point i'll be surprised if Zevran stay's dead.

 

and yet my old drinking buddy Oghren vanished despite being so awesome that if you try to kill him in origins he comes back in awakenings and congratulates you on trying to kill him.

Even though the Inquisitor is a completely different character, it would creep me out to romance anyone who was a relative of one of my previous protagonists. I'm like, no thank you...it's my sister/brother...just...no.

 

Let me put it this way, my reaction to the idea of romancing a former sibling goes like this: DANGER, WILL ROBINSON! DANGER! DANGER! DANGERRRRRRRRR! And yes, I would absolutely say it in Robby the Robot's voice.

Yeah, the OP's request is completly unrealistic, however I can't blame the guy.  Bethany was one of the more attractive women in the DA games IMO, and arguably the only attractive companion in DA:2.

I don't get the fuss anyway. Yes, she was likeable but she wasn't a very interesting character, like at all - Carver was a colossal douche and still a way better character, with a more meaningful sibling-dynamic and deeper character development.

That being said, opinions differ, I'm just wondering what people liked about Bethany besides her being likeable/sweet/w/e.

I think Isabela was attractive. But I do agree that Bethany was prettier. Or at least default Bethany was.

Fair enough. I guess the Art Style was just way too 'cartoonish' and rough for me to find anyone even remotely appealing in that game.

But even if you like her looks, she's still pretty damn boring.
