Yeah, I would totally recruit him into the Inquisition.  He'd come in handy, and I would gladly watch out for him for Bodahn.  Also, just because Bodahn said how he's getting on in years doesn't really mean it's foreshadowing of his death.  He is getting older, but I believe that's really all that conversation meant.  I think he's just genuinely concerned for his adoptive son's well-being once he's gone.

Anyway, if Bodahn does die, I will be quite sad.  :crying:

Sorry but Sandal is just out of character in the game to me.  Like he was some joke character.  I can't speak to him and remain immersed in the game world.  Course I only met him in DA:O, he may have been better in DA2.

It is true that Sandal is destabilizing... When we met him in DAO in the borders of the Lothering's map, I was really feeling strange about him. His "enchantment" and voice effects are difficult to bear and I'm sure that is the main reason why you don't like him at all. But remember, when you are different, you are often rejected by people. And his presence shows that we may accept someone different and even though he is different, he has great skills. (Not only enchantment but also magical powers. [he transformed an ogre into ice in the end in DA I during the expedition]).

So with Sandal returning in DAI (because it can't be a DA ame without Sandal)....

if Sandal can be recuited to be the Inquisition's Enchanter for Enchantments will you recuit him?

I would include Bodahn but the foreshadowing of his possible unavoidable death in DAI makes me not want to think about it.

Absolutely!  Sandal has contributed a lot to the history of the world with his boom rocks and runes.  I always feel special when he hands me something that goes boom!

There is nothing wrong in doing a little fanservice by putting him in the game. And if Bioware wants to, they can always give him a bigger role. I think he has potential

IDK, he was better in DAO (base) as all he basically said was "Enchantment!" WH and DA2 he basically morphs into some developmentally disabled individual who's skilled at Enchantment.

I love sandal! I mean, in a non-pedo kind of way.

Would love to see him return, hes such a loveable character in the series.

Uh Sandal is in, like, his early thirties or at least his very late twenties, considering he was the size of a mature dwarf in origins. If you consider that old to be pedo..... well, i just didnt realize dumbledore liked dragon age.

Thisthisthisthisthis!!! I was about to mention Sandal's little prophecy. Sandal's actually a big mystery - we (I) still don't know wtf he is really.

Haha I was recently thinking about this! At the end of DA:2 Bohdan mentioned that the empress had gotten word of his abilities and that he would be off to Orlais so hopefully they're at the ball! :D

Sandal is the joke character and immersion breaking?  Clearly you have not taken say Zevran with you on many missions.  He generally can't open his mouth without a sarcastic remark or joke... Usually of some level of sexual nature to it.

Or a couple of Shales comments that nearly break the 4th wall as nods to designer issues with making her character work right? Like trimming her down from the original golem size?

My prediction has for quite some time been that Bodahn will indeed die in DAI, and I believe we might have to decide what happens to Sandal. Me? I'll be leaving him in Dagna's capable hands. Because that will be one of the options. And at some point Sandal will say, "I like Dagna" and my heart will melt.

I also agree with the person above. Sandal IS the game. He and Flemeth are by far the most interesting characters in Thedas. He might have begun life as relatively inconsequential, a little quirky colour, a weird story to add into Origins. But after everyone fell in love with the WTF moment at the end where he just happens to be there to sell you some gear having slaughtered a room of enemies, he had to come back and be more important. His various pronouncements in 2 not only tied him to Flemeth in some way, but also to Inquisition. The "not enchantment!" moment suggests he's the first dwarven mage. Whether that's part of the natural process of surface dwarves starting to reconnect with the fade, or whether it's an overture to "the magic returning" because of the events of Inquisition I cannot say.

But regardless of the controversies surrounding his awkward portrayal and what that might mean for how DA and BW represent people with learning difficulties or autism etc. (the 'savant' is a problematic image often used in an unthinking way when talking about autism and sets up unrealistic ideas about what people with autism may or may not be like), he remains one of my favourite characters and I will absolutely be a sad panda if he isn't in Inquisition.

But he will be, because he and Bodahn had specifically been invited to Orlais. That was the biggest clue right there that DA3 would be set there.

It should be noted that Bodahn's voice actor (I still can't get my head around the fact that it's Murdock... showing my age here) isn't listed for DAI yet.
