Ok no doubt I am alone in this, and I mostly made this thread to get an answer from the devs. I want to know why they felt the need to slim down the female dwarf? Its mostly in the torso area, that looks weird and without the helmet the DAI Femdwarf looks bobble headish idk. (glad the monkey arms are gone though)  Thoughts?

I never expected them to make the dwarves slimmer... maybe it has something to do with the new engine?  That might also explain why they got rid of the powerful, slightly elongated arms that I favored... or maybe it was a purely cosmetic redesign like the DA2 elves.

(edit: looking more closely at her, that dwarven Inquisitor looks abnormally thin... I kind of wish they hadn't gone in that direction, but they also seem to have made the elves as tall as humans... there are a lot of odd tweaks to the original DA:O concepts in all the non-human races it seems... )

Not really a fair comparison since the angle of the body to the camera is quite different.

Torso as in the chest and shoulder area? I thought all the DAO female models looked a little... odd there. Like, stretched out in some ways that seem uncanny. I wouldn't mind if they were tweaked to fix that.

I agree the head looks bigger on her but in that picture it looks like its the angle of it making her look thinner to me since it looks like she has one side facing forward like she's turning so could be the angle. Unless they are thinner in ever shot of female dwarfs in which case I don't know and am a bit sadden by it I liked that the dwarfs were wider before they don't need a slim down in my opinion.

The angle?  What?  Take a look at Harding then... she's clearly thinner than any dwarf we've seen in the past.

Can we get a comparison shot of Harding from the recent PC Twitch stream vs. Harding from the Fallow Mire demo?

I kind of see what you mean about proportions, but it's minor.

She looks cute though.

Yea she is, my issue has to do with the mid section (stomach area) and how the Femdwarf looks stretched out and that the head is a bit too big!

A more closeup pic of Harding, she's a bit slanted, but that seems hard to avoid.

I think dwarves were thinned out a bit, but it isn't radical. It's the removal of the gorilla arms and shoulders that seem to make them look tinier.

I don't think that this is a bad thing. The dwarf females in DA:O looked completely disproportionate in a weird way. The gorilla arms especially were something that was clearly a result of limitations with the skeletal animation systems.

Dwarves should look more solid and stocky than humans, but their arms should be proportional to their height. Now they are, and I think they look better.

The removal of the gorilla arms is a good thing. That was on humans too.. or at least human male (take off clothes and it's more apparent). Which makes me think it was just bad general design.. not something specific to dwarves.

Hmm you may be right! I just wish I had a clear Picture of her from head to to toe as a comparison with the old Femdwarf model. But yea maybe it is the different arms and the shoulders that makes her look alot thinner  idk.

I didn't mean for it to sound like I thought it was a bad thing, its just the new female dwarf model looks a little weird. Not necessarily bad!  I am also glad the monkey arms are gone!

I think your right about the shoulders making them look thinner and of course the long arms. So far I dont' think Harding looks super skinny and I'll be happy if my Cadash's are the same size of her or at least close part of the charm to dwarfs to me at least was that they were more thick than the other playable races. So long as they don't go elf thin I'll be happy :D

elf thin? that would be bad for people like me... skinny, petite girls are not desirable, they look like children, not women

I completely agree. She is absolutely ADORABLE.
The only annoyance i have with dragon age inquisition is that i cannot romance her. I love everything inquisition, but no cute scout romance is a bummer.
For my dwarven tempest at least.

The dwarven females appereance is now closer to a halfling/ hobbit female. But it lt looks better this way, since Dragon Age is its own universe it is Ok that the fantasy races look a little different from their tolkien counterparts.

"We Dwarves are natural sprinters... we can be very dangerous over short distances" - Gimli.

I have a feeling the "thicker" dwarven design from DA:O was something to do with the engine that was used. I don't think they were all supposed to be curvy compared to the other races all being thin and muscular.

Just a side note, I didn't base my comment on Gimli's quote.

I like the new dwarves. They're just more pproportionate that's all. They remind me of the hobbit's dwarves. Which are awesome.

I'm more concerned with the fact that she seems to have a penis.
