Don't wanna hold a button for maybe hundreds of hours of gameplay.Very annoying and not very ergonomic either. Make it optional so the more immersive crowd is happy plus the casual slackers like met too. You can make both parties happy by making it optional instead of just throwing it on the table like this.

Dear Bioware, please think this through carefully.

The game is about to ship. This isn't changing, without a pretty significant revamp.

Me having RSI might just cancel that pre-order. This can be a game changer (killer) im my case. Dammit unlucky me I guess then.

How did DA2 feel for you? Could you even play it?

Because I think some of the fundamentals of combat will be similar here.

I didn't finish that game cause I hated it. So did I play it? Yes. How long? Not long.

That way of play with the button attack will make me more sore. I have a choice, play the game that way and get more sore or avoid it. For me the choice is health rather then being sore.

Just because of rsi I workout 2 hours 5 days a week. I eat healthy, take superfoods. I have a regular sleep basis. Basicly the healthier I'am, the less sore. The less of unneedy button holding, the less sore.

Fair enough.

You can always play the game tactically btw.. that would ease... some things for you.

I do hope there is a better way. Not gonna be hastey, waiting for more info regarding the topic. Still a month to go, plenty of time to go by.

That doesn't take out that they can make it optional. If they do that all parties will be happy then.

I plan on playing tactical quite a bit too (probably not for wiping out smaller minions). I already need to do that anyways on harder settings in other Bioware games.

For tactical on console you have to hold a button to advance time. What happend to just pressing a button. Like a light switch on and off, advance time and pause. Holding is a useless and un ergonomic feature.

I get it with diablo games, but really don't see the point with DAI. DAO just had it right why change it? Why make it so when allot of people hated it on DA2? Why bioware why?

I liked DA2, so I can't join in on the woes there. I like both styles of play really.

That I said, I sympathize with your troubles. Not sure what else to say.

Omfg... Everytime I start to accept the previous weird changes to the game they drop another bombshell.

This is becoming mass effect 3 levels of deception. I see absolutely no point to this besides that they wanted to make the game more "actiony" or had to sync the gameplay with multiplayer, both are which bad things.

If people wanna smash buttons to attack in a game like this let them, but also allow auto attack.

How did DA2 do this good and now you are messing it up in DAI?

There is a major problem with this on pc because if you wanna just use the mouse during combat, you gotta hold down mouse button and then awkwardly select abilities from the bar, now you can't even select it using the mouse because your auto attack stops.

I have to change my hand positions constantly cause of this dumb change. On controllers its not that big of a deal.

This is an unnecessary change in this game because, if you wanna button smash go ahead but I don't. Da2 managed to allow both. I don't wanna focus on holding down a button in an rpg like this, its not an action rpg.

Well, I like working with my hands and such, so this really doesn't bother me, though I do see where you're coming from.

However, it's probably too late seeing as the game releases in a month and would have already gone gold.  Has there been any word on controller support for PC?

If you want to use the mouse exclusively without tactical view, yes, but that's a very strange way to play the game. With hotkeys there should be no issue even if you play in RT.

Didn't DA2 have the option to use auto attack like DAO had?I'm pretty sure it's a feature in the settings just like DA2.

Why is auto-attack not the only option? What is the benefit to having to continually mash a button in order to attack?

Some people feel more engaged in combat by having to press to attack. They want to control how/when each attack is executed and they tend to play over the shoulder with the party on AI through the game. This is not my preference (I play on ISO full party control personally) but I can understand their point of view. To them the reactivity of combat in DAO was lacking and in 2 they had a much better experience.

Some people enjoy feeling like they are controlling every aspect of their character in combat. They feel that it's easier to immerse themselves in the game if they feel like they have actual control.

Edit: It was said better in the post above mine. For the record, that's exactly why I liked DA2 combat more than DAO.

The combat control scheme is a very small part of the game, even if it is an important one.
