For the past few days I have been playing FC. I usually load the trebs up. Sure enough, half the games I have played someone is over at the treb I JUST LOADED, firing it off. Instead of leaving it alone they sit there loading and firing, loading and firing. All I can do is hang my head, count to five and move on.

I feel your pain.  I mean, they can see that the trebuchet was primed, wouldn't they think that there was a reason for that and decide 'hey, maybe I should focus on the dragon and/or dragonlings instead of playing with the trebuchet' instead of running up to it and setting it off while the dragon is on the ground and the rest of us are fighting it.  It's even more annoying when they set it off as the dragon takes off and then run away from it, leaving me to have to fight my way through the dragonlings to get cranking only for the dragon to take off from the tower it landed on before I can get the trebuchet to fire.

* sighs *  Moronic pugs are moronic.

I just need three more perilous rounds for my match points but I've been ill-favored.  Get a good group?  Error message entering Zone 5 and disconnect.  Want to join a lobby? Here host one by yourself.  Lucky enough to get a stable connection?  Get a group where you're consistently last man standing in Zone 3 at FC and you die to the tune of revive train.

Server error. Unable to retrieve data.

It used to be we still got our exp whenever that happened, but Bioware has since improved this feature not to give exp anymore. GG.

RNG, of course, gives us Fereldan Castle anyway. And just because RNG really loves me (which everyone knows from my ongoing 8-month saga of never getting any goddamn HoK rings... I still don't have one, BTW, for those of you keeping score at home)... it gives us the Inferno dragon. Because it's been a long time since I felt 100% useless, so of course it does.

On Zone 3, I regret not mic'ing up. Or it probably wouldn't have mattered anyway. But I wanted us to not ring the gong. Guys, literally, it's a fire dragon with immunity to fire and that's all I have going for me - I cannot even give you Barriers to help - so can we please not ring the gong and just have a normal Zone 5?

Nope, they ring the gong. Here we go.

I learned, at least, that Firestorm and Firewall are nice for taking the dragon's guard down fairly quickly. But, of course, I was doing nearly zero damage to her and my teammates were not exactly high on DPS either, so what followed was a 20-minute dragon fight into a wipe. The Archer died and Faded pretty much instantly, leaving me, a Legionnaire, and Isabela. I was the only one cranking the trebuchets and bothering to set them off, which was insanity because with no real DPS happening in this group (Isabela should have been DPS, but that was not the case in this group), the trebuchets were literally the best damage dealers. But no, I hoed that road alone while dragonlings bit my ass.

I tossed my two Jars of Bees. And stuck to basic staff attacks. That was, sadly, all I could do given the set-up.

Ultimately, we wipe. Yay, I feel awesome now. Was so helpful. And back in goes the ESO disc...

It´s not a real dragon fight unless it takes at least 40 minutes!

But you have to think positively. Just imagine what would happen if you faced regular boss on that fine flat roof, with fire dragon surprisingly (not surprisingly) accurate sniping, assassins and army of archers around?

I finally went full NarniaTM for the first time... happened in Zone 3... I watched the others from a little rock I was standing on... the Dragon could even hit me with a fireball  and I died once or twice and the AW revived me even but I couldn't follow him after that - I just fell down the edge and respawned on my tiny little rock   ...

Zone 4 was normal again, yay...

but then Zone 5... narnia again... sometimes I could hit the Dragon if she flew in large circles... I waited patiently (didn't want to leave and the other players didn't kick-voted me)... and finally they made it and I got xp & co.

weird game

Edit: will upload beautiful pictures when I get home from work ^^

Threatening was hilarious today.

I popped on around noon to get in a few matches and kinda hoped the daily challenge would be Red Templars and that I would knock it out early just in the course of things. That happened in literally the first match. Found a game-in-progress that needed a rogue, so threw my Assassin on to try and finish leveling her up. I should've known it was bad when I entered Zone 1 and all three teammates were already dead. I mop up the remaining enemies and the rest of the match went just about how you'd expect it to from that grand entrance. Zone 4 wipe, but got some XP for the Assassin and accidentally knocked out the Red Templar challenge. Knocking it out "early" also seems to have thrown my prestige points out of whack again, as my upper right shows 588 but the leaderboard properly shows 593. *sigh*

Spoiler alert: this was when DragonRacer should have quit for the day and put her ESO disc back in.

Instead, I decide to work on my mace challenge, so I run my Templar through a few matches. A few successes, mostly wipes. Apparently, everyone wants to play Fereldan Castle today.

Wait, let me amend that. Apparently, everyone wants to play Fereldan Castle and die horribly today. It's been a plague of no one using any strategy, dying out in the open on Zone 4 and then demanding I come out into the hurricane of arrows to revive them.

Planning one last match, I switch to my Elementalist to put levels on him. Normally, I go straight to Barrier first, then fill in Firewall and Firestorm. This time, I had done the opposite, so I had Winter's Grasp, Firewall, and Firestorm, but no Barrier. Not a big deal on Threatening; everything's going to die in a rain of fire anyway. I finally find a Threatening lobby not preset to Fereldan Castle and we ready up.

You always seem to have such a  gloriously terrible time!

If you are playing around 5:30pm UK you really should look us up.

And this smurf guy, I forget exactly but we carry him now and again.

Part of me however wants you to keep suffering the trials and tribulations of the Pug Lyfe and posting about it, so conflicted right now!

Haha!

Well, to be fair, usually my more humorous stories are the "bad days", so they get posted in here. Think of all the PUG posts I don't make, and those are usually the good ones that make it through (but are also somewhat unremarkable).

I did wrecking ball with Smurf and Lefaey on Friday/Saturday. Yumi and TechForze joined for the ride for a while as well. :D

Looking for a random threatening with my then lvl 10-ish Elementalist, I get to join an FC (storm) game, 1st zone. While loading, I hear a familiar frizzling sound, and just about have the time to think "Uh oh...". When loading has finished, the final red of my health disappears from the electrical bolt the dragon had just dropped on me. Didn't have the guts to call my teammates back for revival, dropped the game instead.

Tried a nightmare game when home for lunch at noon.  Woofta.

Very tough.  The group succeeded but only because the leader was an expert Legionnaire named Exiled Ditto.  I think there will be a resurgence of the tanks because if you a squishy you go down fast.

I joined as an elementalist and myself and the Legionnaire got through about 2 1/2 levels and then an Aw joined.  We made it to the last wave and I went out into fade land pretty quick.  Can't keep the barrier up fast enough, too many opponents for the Legionnaire to aggro all of them.  then the AW went down, just the legionnaire hanging in there.  He literally got beaten into a wall by the shield guardians who are just incessant in their knockdown.  Finally a keeper joined and they were able to finish them off and thus a victory.

Very nasty, very important imo to have at least one huge damage soaker who can taunt.  Also very very long game.

Dropped my level 8 Keeper into a Threatening game in progress.  Loaded into the corner of a texture, saw Narnia, and couldn't move.  Saw the others fighting in the distance, so spammed Barrier on myself and blindly fired off Chain Lightning in a vain attempt to hit something.  Luckily, it was the end of Zone 5, and I only had to endure it about 30 seconds.  In the lobby, two of the others stuck around, the host, a level 19 Assassin, and a non-bannered level 20 Katari.  Waited for the Katari to ready up, but he never did so we kicked him, and started two-manning it.

The host proceeded to speed run the game, leaving pots and doors behind in his/her wake.  Since I want my gold, and the Assassin was competent enough to stay alive killing things, I hung back and cleared pots and rooms, hoping to get everything before the Spassassin pulled me into the next zone.  It was a chore, but we eventually finished the game with just the two of us.

In the lobby, two more joined, and we started another game.  Same thing as before, with the Spassassin running ahead and leaving everyone else to pick up doors and gold.  Not too much of a problem until we get to Zone 4 and we pull the sword wielding captain for an escort mission.  Well...while I'm opening one of the mage doors and picking up the couple hundred gold the host would have otherwise left behind, the suicidal swordsman tries to keep up with the host and is cut down after the second barrier I cast on him expires.  Frustrated, I left after the end of the match.  I want my gold for the shiny new toys - not .05 more promotions per hour.

Hiya, I started playing DAMP last week and it has been great fun.  I've been playing only public games and like the randomness of stumbling across people to cooperate with.

I have what I suppose is an etiquette question: In the veilfire zones, is the person with the torch expected to run to the brazier or does it always depend on the group?

Depends on the group.  If you have a group that can handle taking on the entire zone at once, it shouldn't be an issue if the torch-runner blitzes to the bonfire, but if the group is struggling, it would be best to just clear the zone one mob at a time before lighting the bonfire.

It tends to be group preference.  Part of the reason I hesitate when picking it up -- my instinct is always to run straight to the brazier and not everyone appreciates that.

Dropped into a perilous lobby with Badgerlad and Minuos. The f4 champion of the world was also there, but it seemed as though he'd broken his f4 key. Which was lucky for us because Minuos was hosting and his PC seems to rage quit if there is too much f4 spam.

A very satisfying set of runs, I killed a crate with charging bull, unfortunately there was no medal awarded for this feat of amazing skill.

About the veilfire: Thanks, that's what I figured and what I've been doing.

I do wish that people would wait til the room is cleared before opening the treasure rooms (or spamming 'over here, over here'.)  I wish there was a voice command that was 'I noticed but am a bit busy with the twenty guys that were just agro-ed.'
