I just finished my first challenge in about 4 months. It was grindy, but at least I didn't have to solo to do it (not counting the last titch of experience that I solo'd Threatening to get... barely, since I died in the first zone.)

 

Edit: Oops, I got 2 Commendation chests for it, instead of one. Perhaps the double experience/Gold bug has some impact if you go into the store immediately after you get it?

I am probably completely wrong, late at night and drink taken, but I got the same and I assume it is one for the actual quest and one for the chapter in (the real) Varric's book. And who am I to complain.

You are absolutely right. You get one for the challenge and one for the completion of Varric's tales chapter.

I'm gonna for a run in NM...

I don't even care if I die in Zone 1, I just want to get my Lvl 19 Avvar to 20, so that I can promote him. =/

Got kicked for the first time tonight. Lvl 1 Reaver in (before) a threatening game. Guess my top tier gear wasn't good enough. It's ok. Killed it in the next pug.

 

I've noticed people getting picky about the characters they play with. That **** needs to stop. My Keeper was almost booted too...made my point by carrying the team. I'm not an awesome player, but I can hold my own. I've noticed a lot of new pugger's lately likely because of the demo, and I'm happy to accommodate until they go all rambo and desert the team; I'm happy to give back what was given to me--a skilled player helping me out. I can totally understand someone being choosy when playing a NM/HB game, but anything less is just ridiculous.

Update: Didn't even kill a single enemy....... Was fighting a Venatori mage and nearly got him, when a Hyena one-shot bit me in the back. -____-

How would the group know you had top tier gear or were an experienced player?  The only way to know before hand anything about a player is essentially banners.

Seen alot of new players this weekend on PS4, was interesting dipping into lolroutine again and helping out. I've also learned from this weekend challenge that Zither is crazy fun and I'm kicking myself for not playing with/realizing this sooner.   Also blew alot of my gold in one big spending spree, most of it was more uniques of what I already have bitter axe, staff of the dragon, superb belt of health etc. but I didn't have this one

I am only one perilous fire dragon game away from that challenge so yesterday I decided to try and get it.  About 5 failures in a row.  In only one game did anyone else join a lobby I started and the group was not strong.  The rest I just got beat down by the enemy, usually the damn shield guardians, or despair demons.  My mid level Templar and Lego were just not good enough.

Man, I would never give someone crap for being low level in threatening.  I'm tempted to do it myself to level up, but I'd just end up dying a lot.  I got lucky with Isabella in a chest so I was playing with her this weekend.  I fell flat on my face first time out but with some levels and smart play I can see how she's a powerhouse.

 

I have a question if anyone knows the answer.  Do venatori marksmen have an ability to kill when they die?  I swear this has happened to me twice; I've killed the archer and there is no one else around, but I hear a sound like I've been shot three times and than I'm dead, with no idea what happened.  I don't think it's lag, so I figure I'm just missing something obvious.

For elementalists, added troll bonus that death siphon doesn't seem to kick in if the fade proc is in effect when the kills are made.

I played a bunch this weekend as I just migrated over from ps3 to ps4 and that leaves my wife open to use the ps3 as long as she wants.

My last set of pugs was trying to pig nightmare. I got dropped into a group with a few people and most notably a high profile leaderboard player that I had heard of before. I figured, this should go well, right? We go in and I quickly realize no one has any inclination to stick together at all. It felt like the leaderboarder was playing like it was perilous and just ran ahead trying to kill as much as they could with no regard for team play or strategy. Which can be fine of you can carry but they obviously couldn't with the classes they were playing. We never made it past 3/5. But it ended up being better xp/hr than perilous so I was fine with it.

Today MP was a real pain.   I wanted to level up my Avvar and Keeper, so that I could promote them, (which I eventually did) but oh was everything buggy/glitchy. Once I even ended up in Narnia, which was the point where I decided to go to SP. 

 

There Bruce killed Hivernal in a 20 minute fight, now I feel better.

The game is almost unplayable these days for me.  Over the weekend and prime time last night super slow server communication, including post match so you have a 50/50 chance of gaining your gold and exp.

 

My last 3 games:

 

- Get to last wave, no flag marker is visible, team mates can see it though so I run to them.  Flag gets planted, invisible enemies, I hurl a few spells around and just have to hope the team wins.  After about 5 minutes of watching the team slide around the map, screen goes black.  Just before I shut it down I am now back at the door to the last level, the only one.  I open it and get killed quick vs the RTemps  (I was a Necro).  Screen comes up give me what looks like double gold but actually counts the experience backwards from -1800 or so to zero.

 

- Get to last wave of the match, Narnia.  Can't follow the team to flag, match over I have to disconnect.

Maybe I have to host all the time or something.  I'll give it one more try doing nothing but hosting this eve.  If I get more results like above I just might be done.
