I understand feeling frustrated, but there are plenty of ways to deal with frustrating that don't involve yelling at people. There's absolutely nothing to "learn" from this player unless I was looking to learn how to make people feel like **** more easily.

Obviously I'm not still playing with them since I completely haven't touched Dragon Age since then.

Don't let people like that ruin the game for you, man. They're everywhere in life, often insecure about their own abilities and have to take it out on other people. They should encourage you to improve yourself and prove them wrong, with actions and not words.

I actually really like talking to people, though I only open up my mic when other people start talking first (they're probably waiting for someone else to do the same, but). Generally I don't have a ton of social anxiety, but multiplayer games bring it out because I'm afraid of doing poorly and being judged. In the case of a party wipe, it's not like I'm the only one who went down, though... and I went down while trying to res someone. But still.

Maybe the guy you were playing with just thinks you went to sleep, too.

Just take some rest from all of it and you´ll be good. In 3 years, I ran into 2 or 3 people like this while playing Mass Effect. Bit more often in Warframe, but even there it was rare. It always spoils the game for a moment, but after while it goes away. ;)

It can really get frustrating when your team is incompetent, though. You need to just acknowledge where the guy is coming from and either block him/dont play with him or perhaps maybe learn something from him, depending on whether or not he's one of the people who talk **** and can't back it up.

No, he doesn´t. There are people who can´t take failure and need to scream it out or/and blame it on someone else. Even if they are number 1 on leaderbord, if they can´t behave like an adult, I am out. There is plenty of normal, rounded players to learn something from.

Frustration is no excuse. You don't get people to improve by shouting at them, and anyone who does not understand this has a lot to learn about motivating party members. I have been very lucky as some people "friended" me early on, and then explained how to survive in the game. They were also very tolerant when I fouled up, a fairly frequent event as this is the first MP game I have played.

Acquiring friends is one way to avoid having some numpty giving you stick, most often for things which were his own doing. You may also manage to avoid people whose f4 keys are taped down and other asbo candidates.

I was playing as my level 1 hunter in perilous and there were 3 pretty new players with me all 11+ and I had to carry the whole game because they kept dying. I hope they didn't become disillusioned because I was one shotting everything with Hakkons Wrath. I imagine to a new player I must have looked like I had some sort of god hack on  :P . Also is it just me or are new players seriously bad at the game? I mean I failed my first perilous game and who knows how many after that but I was never this bad. That and they all get dragons weapons from their first chests nowadays which gives them less of an excuse. I still try to help especially if they have mics. Newbs with mics become my friends asap  -_-

Probability is fun like that.

On a random note, Kalas Magnus, are you a fan of a game series called Baten Kaitos? Not many people have heard of it, but if not, your username is oddly coincidental.

Can´t talk about others, but I WAS that bad. We were failing match after match after match on routine! And there was no one around with high weapons or promotions to ease the blow. I was on verge of quitting by the time we got some decent weapons and it started to turn around.

I wonder how many of the new PC players have downloaded the demo and skipped the SP game? After some time in SP you should have a basic idea of how the different classes act together and the basic mechanics.

The proving grounds is too easy to miss, so they may not even has gone through it. I entered a game with three players standing by a rogue door with the rogue doing nothing. I didn't have a mic set up, and even if I had, by the look of some of the names I probably couldn't have communicated anyway. In the end I dragged them to the next level, and demonstrated as well as I could. They were fine in combat though and we cleared the dungeon. Hope they enjoyed it.

This has happened to me too. Bonus, it was one of those tiny rooms that spawn no enemies. I couldn't stop laughing, so my sister came to yell at me that I am crazy.

Some of the people probably just take a look at the classes and say "yeah, lets roll", and that's why you get legionnaires that don't generate guard and keepers that don't use barrier not even on themselves and spend half the game floor-faced.

On the bright side, there are also people like the archer I met on threatening recently, being quite helpful and not dying... unlike the level 19 reaver that previously wanted to kick him out of the lobby. In some cases it boils down to how much common sense one has to answer questions like " i am a keeper, should I charge those three enemies rambo-style and don't put barrier on myself, ever?"

That was last week wasn't it ?  :kissing:

We had no idea on skills or passives and trying to decide what you should take while the pugs are getting restless in the lobby was stressful.

Played a bunch over the weekend. I tried to ninja into one of Yumi's lobbies but he ran off right when I joined so I decided to just pug some.

Ran into a bugged lobby. 16-20 in one Elven ruins game. :o Left that.

Managed to land a perilous group that quickly and efficiently tore through some (non-bugged) matches. Door-skippers, short short runs. It felt like we should have maybe bumped it up to NM but I didn't want to speak up and ruin the groove. All in all very efficient crew and I got some decent XP. resulting in me promoting a handful of my mid-teen characters.

I kind of feel a little bit like I can't find people to do private groups with because no one talks. And when no one talks, I don't feel comfortable setting up private matches. :S

Other people on PS4, is this deafening silence normal?

100% normal. I actually stopped mic'ing up because I felt like I was being that annoying person who just talks to themself or has awkward rambling stream-of-consciousness narration to fill the void. Now I just mic up if someone else does or if I recognize a name. And sometimes even in private lobbies of friends, nobody freaking mics up. It's just a giant group text conversation, which is incredibly interesting to jab out messages between zones. Not that I'm naming any names... *looks at SilverSmurf, Aggro, et al.* :P

It's really weird, to be honest. I remember finding LOTS of talking lobbies in ME3MP - where you actually had to, you know, purchase a mic and stuff. Whereas I KNOW every last one of you mofos has a mic because one came with the damn PS4.

Had a great bunch-a-PUGs this weekend.

Thank you all random PUGies, you keep me on my toes.

Also why is there no gif thread? There should be a gif thread.

Anyway, this is why elementalist and trapper!hunter should be best buds:

I hope this changes if/when there is a surge of PS3 people. Otherwise it just feels like I'm playing with no one. Oh well, for now: when in rome...

Honestly, I'd kinda welcome it over stony silence and the 8,000th conversation by the characters about ham.
