But I don't understand the kick votes, was one of the Sisters mad at us for trying to win the game?

This may be a thing...I encountered a version of this last night in a FC perilous run. Joined a game in progress with 3 20s. Even before I clicked ready, I had a kick vote on my lv 10 duelist. Whatever, joined anyway and they were on wave 1 facing qunari. They are in trouble with 2 in the fade and one struggling to stay alive. I proceed to clear the level and finally one guy comes on the mic and says: "Learned, we are trying to die here. These mobs are stupid." LOL. No point continuing if they don't even have the will to fight so I suicide.

Saarebas has a rune buff they can cast on themselves or upgrade to also buff the nearest person to them.  Ice I believe gives you extra damage resistance.

You should look into Glyphs of Aqun (it is a Saarebas skill). The opening glyph (frost) grants 30% damage resistance IIRC. You may not have noticed due to guard.

Thanks - that must be it. And you're right, with all the guard I wouldn't have noticed the DR...

Dropped into a public nightmare fc lobby today which had two guys with heartbreaker portraits/titles, didn't recognize their names though. The host changed the lobby to private after I joined, figured they were probably trying to add a friend so I sat there for a while. After a minute or so SpaceV3gan joined!  :wizard:

First game went like a breeze against the qunari, although I felt a little out of place with my 640 prestige as it seemed that everyone else was doing stupidly high damage. When we reached zone 5 I went to prime a trebuchet and came back to find the dragon with a sliver of its health left. Had to doublecheck that we didn't have anybody playing archer with MoD but no, it was hunter, elementalist, saarebas and my templar.

Had three more similalrly painless runs after that and promoted both templar and mini-elvis. Decided to try out alchemist for the first time on nightmare, as I remembered reading Drasca's post about how good it was with the hakkon dagger. Really stupid decision, had serious l2p problems. We rolled demons and my 34 willpower meant that every time a terror popped from the ground under me it was a potential death sentence. Ended up going to fade on zone 2 and quit the match because I didn't want to slow the others down.

Overall, really great games. Wanted to thank everyone in the lobby for the matches!

Also, first post after visiting regularly since few months before DAI was released.

Joined a Perilous match with my level 9 Lego. Host was a level 19 Assassin, shouldn't be a problem, in theory. Another level 1 Lego joined and off we went into the Fereldan Castle with a Storm dragon. Not sure if the host wanted to get that dragon or if everything was set to random. Anyhow, host was in the perma-fade in zone 1. My fellow Lego and I started to slowly, but surely, clean up. Did I mention we had Qunari?  A level 19 Necro joined and everything went a lot faster.

The host was perma-fade again in the beginning of zone 2. Fellow Lego, the Necro and I tidied up and on we went to zone 3. Assassin went to the fade as soon as possible, the other Lego and I joined close the the end of the zone. The Necro finished everything up. As one can guess, zone 4 didn't go any different for the Assassin and the level 1 Lego went down quickly again and then left. Luckily, Ghostwheel joined with a Silent Sister and we managed to pull through.

And then, in zone 5, with the boss defeated and only the rest to clean up, my game crashed.  :) I'm not crying, I swear. I love it when I pretty much spent 30 minutes in a match doing my best only to lose all the XP. Love it. Really, I do.

Well you can take comfort in the fact that the lvl 19 assassin is still probably level 19 because they got no xp for anything you or the other lego killed.

OK, I'm getting really tired of joining matches as someone opens the door at the end of zone 4.

Plus my enemy variety lately seems to be around 50% Qunari, 35% Darkspawn, 10% Red Templar, 5% Venatori.  I don't think I've seen a single demon for days now.  The Darkspawn are almost always FC, and I'm really starting to hate fighting minigun-dwarves on that staircase on zone 4 because no-one wants to stay in a more intelligent position.

Oh, and this:

Hey, I'll take those join at zone 5 matches if you don't want them. Also that Narnia is the most detailed one I've ever seen. Usually never see the level in the background like that.

Game still likes to randomly crash, especially during zone 5, so I gave up doing quick matches when I CTD'd three times in a row. Luckily found two guys I've been running a bunch with the past few days and we did some private Perilous matches to level up for NM. Didn't find a fourth for our group and opened up the lobby.

Cherish Port joined us with an Elementalist and everything went pretty well, even though we had Darkspawn, bolters included. Luckily my game didn't crash while the lobby was public. For the next match, a Keeper joined and went down pretty much ASAP. Kicked them and an AW joined in the next zone, but went down just as easily. Afterwards, an experienced player joined and we finished up two more NM matches.

Had my Alchemist on level 19 and wanted to get her ready for promotion before heading to bed and joined a Perilous quick match. Caldyrvan was in that match as well, I believe. Game crashed again shortly before zone 5 was done. Going to try to stick to private lobbies from now on, I believe, if the issues persist.

Someone's been tinkering with enemy spawns I see... ;)

Jeff Theriault @FieldFlux

They shouldn't let me play with the knobs to control what can spawn in DAIMP. I just had a crazy idea... ^_^

I've already noticed Arcane Horrors were spawning on a Venatori run tonight (but not on a 2nd run against them, so it must be random). I was also kicked from a Threatening lobby tonight when I showed up with a 1st lvl Pala. Really? Really?

On the day Izzy came out I went puggin' Routine for my very first game with her and got 2 Red Skulls

They did get withdrawn after I got on the mic "For f**k's sake where do you go with a lvl 1"  You wouldn't mind so much but the others were over lvl 10.

Right now, it might look like I'm laughing, but my heart is weeping on the inside...

Anyway, I've had the dubious luck of having never been kicked out of anywhere with my level 1 people, but when I first started playing, I once spotted an arcane warrior with the banner for 250 games wth the AW and the blue perilous portrait getting "skulled" by these two guys on a threatening lobby. The guy got annoyed and left and I left too - figured that their "cunning" would probably get my poor minion killed on wave 1...

I agree with not kicking before you've seen someone play (I will only kick someone for not playing during a match with no notice for a good portion of a wave), but some newer players likely have no clue what the banners, titles, and portraits mean.  You've got a mic too.  ;)  Let them know and perform a cunning check.  :P

lol, the chance line spoke by the legionnaire there fits perfectly with going to narnia, too bad it is your templar that is in narnia.

Just had the most awkward moment in a game. Either the elementalist or the archer  had one of their phrases where they talk about the inquisition, to which my reaver replies "I don't eat meat"...I don't really know what is happening anymore!  :P

I only suggest a kick for constant AFK issues or leeching. Everyone can haz bad games, distracted moments or tries to duplicate some silly Saarebas leap or tries out some weird build. Below Nightmare anyway. Nightmare and above, even in pugs, I can understand more DIS SERIOUS BIZNESS attitudes.

Wanted to thank BadgerLadDK (thrice) and ErySakasegawa (once?) för some nice perilous runs with my Izzy this afternoon. Started really lousy with permadeath against demons (:o) in zone 5, where they were the only ones who pulled through. After that I think my contributions improved (mostly by not rushing headlong into archers, etc).

I started playing DAMP again today (since like, a year or something)

Looked at my earlier characters from days of yore and wow did they have weird builds...

Anyway, I popped a game with the silent sister and man is she a fun character to play! Had a good group as well. It was really fun! Maybe I'll stick around again for a while. I at least wanna play as isabela :P

I do still notice a lot of bugs, be they visual or network related... I would have thought that they'd have ironed that out after such a time, but guess not.

Btw, what's this dragon bussiness in multiplayer? Can anyone explain?

It's a new map, Fereldan Castle, where, you can fight a dragon at zone 5 if you previously used a craftable dragon call on a giant plate located at the end of zone 3. The available dragons are fire, frost and storm (this last one being the most powerful).

If you don't have the dragon call, zone 5 plays out like on any other map - with a boss and it's minions.

Ah, ok thanks.

Is it wise to do this is pugs? Or are they hard? And do they give some sort of special reward?

There is no need to use a dragon call on anything below perilous. Perilous and above is when the dragons start dropping interesting things. Drops rates are not great, Bob.

Spoiler

Be careful when using a call in pugs and fighting dark spawn or qunari. The pug may be going well through the first 3 zones, but those two factions can sometimes ramp up in difficulty is zone 4 and some pugs may wipe in zone 4, wasting your call.

As to the dragons themselves? In general, they tend to be easier than just the normal boss fights as long as you have high DPS or someone acting as a tank.

The dragon moves are very predictable. If you have super high range DPS, when the dragon flies off and lands on one of the buildings, let the DPS kill the dragon. Otherwise, use the corresponding opposite catapult to hit the dragon. This does a decent chunk of damage and makes the dragon fly around again.

The catapults can be pre-charged by using them to lower the arm beforehand, so get it about 75% down before you engage the dragon.

Otherwise, the dragon fights are generic dragon fights. Don't stand in front of the dragon. Beware the wind buffet attack. Etc.

Ugh, trying to run the weekend challenge, known leecher joins. Think, alright, whatever, I'll get everyone to kick him at the flag. They don't. So I move around a bit, before just alt-f4ing when they don't kick him and just stand around spamming f4 so the run goes to a failed host migration. I honestly have never been so angry at a game before.

Right, people don't really understand the concept of exploding nugs do they?  Yeah, lets all pile on the nug, it must drop money!  Oh, it exploded, lets try the next one!  Or even better, I have a few of them on me, I whittle them down to lowish health, then frost flask and poison cloud, and walk away from the explosion like every cool movie character ever.  And an archer hits them with exploding shot before I get far enough away <_<.

On the bright side, I learned that Luka will be a valuable addition to my decorating team, come Christmas!

Wrapped up the personal challenge earlier (despite glitches galore...), and (when it was working...) it was loads o' fun.  :)

But... maybe not so much for the newer players.  :pinched:

If you noticed someone in the lobby without a title (or a low-end title), you knew they were going to be eating dirt somewhere along the way. And there were a lot of people eating dirt on those runs. In most of them, I kept Druffy aggro'd on me (playing an AW today) and kinda hoped it wouldn't just be me at the end of the match.

That said, I did manage to pull Stinking Cheater from my last chest o' the day. Though I thought I read somewhere the shield was bugged... does anyone know?
