Just had a nice, smooth NM FC (Qunari) run. Starting to get the hang of the Heart of Pride/Storm Belt combo - loads of fun, but so, so fragile (as I painfully learned yesterday)...

I thought I was seeing things last night when I opened up a public lobby (11.45pm) started solo, and by time I had loaded in 4 players were there.

Maybe because one of the people that joined was a Saarebas spamming barrier 

 

My faith is slowly being restored.  I am sorry I do not remember anyones name, but if you remember seeing me,  it was a real pleasure.  Nice games.

 Last pug I ran in Tuesday evening was a NM Castle run against the Mighty Q. I joined at the tail end of zone 2 witha level 18 Katari hoping to get a promote finish on it. I soon realized in zone 3 that it was the Q. I tried to give as much DPS output as possible seeing how I basically joined at the finish of zone 2.

 

 In true Bear fashion I started wailing away with the others trying to keep my gaurd up in the process. I hit a snag with  one of the Sarrebas barrier dudes just past the bridge. I got stripped of gaurd and dropped like a 300 pound sack of potatoes. Dumb Bear.Got revived thankfully and pushed on to zone 4 with the group. I did not make such a stupid mistake in zone 4.

 

 I don't recall the others names. I was getting tired. My apologies. I remember hearing one of the group remarking that it seemed like an easy run to them. Aside from me over committing myself in zone 3 by the gong, I thought the same. Some one said it wouldn't have been if it was the Spawn. The way this group was jammin it out, I think it would have been ok.

On the AW or Saarebas (or, Maker forbid, Keeper)? If the AW, I've found the Enhanced Barrier Ring to be useful - should be able to generate significant Barrier purely based on your standard attack even without the Barrier upgrades. Also, try to get the Stormbringer passive ASAP (right hand skill tree, branches off the passive just before POTA) - that will generate Barrier for you and save your Baquon all the time.

On the AW or Saarebas (or, Maker forbid, Keeper)? Usually, I'll run further down the Mentalism tree to get Conductive Current for the extra damage, as well as GS, MoM, SoS, C.Clarity, FoW and GS. I'm ashamed to say the build with this gear even has me grabbing Peaceful Aura.  

 

After that, there really aren't many points left to go deep into the Ele tree. But I will give Stormbringer a try next time. Barrier generation isn't an issue with the build I have (even without a Barrier ring). I can stand there and tank NM Ven/Demon Commanders. It's just the times you get caught without a barrier or the barrier-popping Qunari... you die if anyone so much as coughs in your direction.

 

For gear, I've been running with a CD amulet, HoK Ring and CL Ring. I keep hearing conflicting reports on the Barrier ring and whether it actually processes on the AW or not. Some say yes, some say no... Sounds like it may be worth testing out though.

Its perilous... with enough stats / gear you typically go as a level 1 through perilous, definitely no fade shield. FSld isn't necessary at all though.

 

 

I'd say, swap out FS for PotA.

 

I learned facing the camera angle down is how to cast on self instead of target with controller, by clearing all targets. I wish I knew that when Dragonracer streamed. Ah well. Soooo much easier to cast on KB&M though.

I used to religiously run with PotA/SF/CL/FS before they adjusted things. I find FS just too essential to survival to give up though. When you have barrier-popping Qunari dancing around you and Saarebas' dropping on your head, being able to create a lil' distance is a very, very good thing.  

 

If anything, I'd give up SB for PotA before FS.

Actually, I too put FS in my build instead of SB, initially, for the Ben-Hasrath assassins, which made my life a living hell when i was forced to solo Pride demons in W4 FC. I could, like you, substitute PotA instead of SB but I love that ability way too much. Your build is of course a lot more survivable but I prefer the added utility. To each their own I guess.

Yeah, I liked when SB was doing 6k damage, but its not enough for my bar under pugging circumstances. I would argue my build is more utility than SB is, given the combos. Pride demons are annoying, but everything else dies faster. FS is OK, but FC completely negates enemy trolling and does signifigant spirit damage to them.

 

 Thing is he/she really didn't have enough gear/stats and was in desperate need of Fade Shield.

Speaking of, I played a perilous pug where a level 19 avvar was playing... terribly. no lady's wrath, no crushing leap-- I don't think he was even using his starting abilities of hakkon's charge or korth's might. it was zone 5. I entered, and he immediately died within the next few seconds. He was calling Avvar the worst class ever. I called him the worst player ever and didn't know his ass from his face. Even more irony is the host was playing an avvar and using LW and CL plenty.

 

Wtf do I know... I'm not the dead one. I entered the match and already got higher score than he did by killing whatever leftovers were on Z5.

Earlier, had some good games... well, maybe "good" isn't quite the word I'm looking for... Ran some games with Cirvante (whom I'm glad was there) and we kick off a run of Perilous Pugs... with Qunari. Then Qunari again. And again. Okay, time to switch to FC... yeah, Qunari again.   We cap off that lovely run with DS which by that point were a breeze by comparison.

 

Finished off the day with a fun NM Demon run with SpaceV3gan which went comically easy compared to the rest of the day.

Yet again ran a Perilous FC match where the only other person with a Hakkon weapon went down & faded out while everyone else made it to the end unscathed.

Ran my Lv.7 Twisted sister (lowest level out of everyone else) dropping in on some randoms: DrackThull, Seppell-some random #, and LS-some random #.

All was well until the 3rd/4th rooms in FC when the other guy, Seppell with a Hakkon weapon started going down & eventually faded out in the 4th room and then again against the dragon.

I have to admit, it is pretty fun when you're the lowest level & carry everyone to be ranked first in the match. You're welcome.   lol

Yet again ran a Perilous FC match where the only other person with a Hakkon weapon went down & faded out while everyone else made it to the end unscathed.

 

Just yesterday I played a perilous on an old map with a Reaver that couldn't stay out of the fade.  They were level 20 and had Hakkon's Valor.

 

 

I also just played a Nightmare storm dragon with someone from the top ten on Xbone leaderboard.  Every time the dragon would fly away, I would run to the pre-loaded trebuchet to get a double-shot on the dragon.  The leaderboarder would follow me to protect me or something, even though there were no dragonlings anywhere near me.  What was near me was the electricity circle from the dragon.

 

 

I swear, if I didn't know any better I would think I was being trolled.

i'm a low promo (30s), but the AW with storm belt, and hakkon (elec dmg), its pretty invinsible in NM for me.

 

I have the barrier ring, but I figure, i'd rather use another ring to boost dmg.

When playing Elementalist (15) on Nightmare you might want to consider barrier and firestorm.   My generosity only extends so far regarding carries.  Spamming Winter's Grasp and Auto attack really doesn't cut it.  Other guy in team thought you were playing Necro when we discussed it.  I'm not even sure it's L2P issue.  I have on good authority you L2Leech quite well. 

 

If I never see the both of you again it will be too soon.

Yeah, I dunno where Dstar keeps showing up from. He isn't on my list, worrying that the match making keeps throwing him into games with us. Is there really such a paucity of decent players out there in the wild, even during peak EMEA times?

 

It was however reassuring to see our new regular leaderboard companion get downed by bolters yesterday, he said it made for a refreshing change

 

But my my, you are a grumpy smurf today! Perhaps some relaxing double xp later can sooth that!

 

I did have a couple ok pug games early yesterday, but depressingly too many where a promote to lvl1 gets a red skull, despite putting in a sterling effort in preceding games, oh well.

So, I just joined a perilous game. First thing I notice is someone dead on the ground, so I go and revive. As soon as I revive that one, another teammate goes down, so I grab my keeper and go revive them. They get up and the only one I haven't revived goes down, so here I go on another stroll. I revive and the next thing I know, my keeper goes down and I get the "you have bled out ... can only spectate from the fade" text.

Naturally,having neither suffered any damage nor draw any aggression I've suddenly became very very dead! 

 

I would post that jackie chan meme, but I am so baffled that I can't yet function properly!

Today I ran thru the Perilous challenge in PUGs with **bigcat and jol***jeff (full names redacted). These guys were polite and very competent, which made for really pleasant runs. We grabbed pots, chests and covered each other. We flipped back to lvl1s in turns and just plowed thru. Average for a run was about 11minutes, got several purps I didn't have before and over 20k in gold.

Had a ~3.5 hour marathon earlier today. Got in with a good group who carried whoever was lvl 1 at the time (except for someone who tried to run a lvl 1 AW with the Storm Belt against DS. Went exactly as you would expect. ) and other than a couple o' rough matches early on, the rest went smooth as silk. Time for dinner!

Yesterday was smooth, today glitchy.

ImbuedBl*** (full dame redacted) is a good player but I imagine he believes I might be special, like short bus special. Feels like everytime I pug into a match of his everything that could happen happens.

In just a couple examples today; Veilfire Event and a RT giant throws up a wall between me and everyone else, blocking the pathway, no one can break it for some reason. My Pala chokes to death just before the torch lights the fire and with no deaths she instantly goes to the Fade. On top of that in the final zone suddenly my Pala's guard generation seemed to be a %CHANCE per hit, I'm smacking everything. 1 guard. Health dropping beneath the guard. Biff! Bam! Pow! 1 guard. Health dropping but still 1 guard. No poison or spirit or burning damage, it was like Pala was still choking from the previous zone. Pala drops, is revived, same cycle of guard vs constant dropping health.

I couldn't stop myself from rage quitting. As soon as I quit out, away from the moment, I could laugh.

Reav'd & SS'd this morning (a bit glitchier than usual, yesterday was smoother...). Just as I jumped into a Perilous match with a lvl 1 Pala, we pull... Druffy. We really should have given up when an immortal giant forced us to host migrate, but we soldiered on... 2 Legos did a great job of carrying us up to the all-mages, all-the-time wave where we finally decided it was nap time.

 

Had one strange match today with Peri DS in the Elven Ruins. We were in Wave 5 and we killed the Commander pretty quick, then the rest of the foes just... disappeared. The match ended normally (as though we had killed everything). Never seen that one before, but I'll take it...
