I've heard these words in my head many, many times. That game was a full by zone 2 exception, though.
 
Speaking of 2, that was the Assassin's level.   They did try, at least. I'll give them that. There's only so much you can do with starter gear in NM. Makes me wonder if anyone got anything nice from the dragon.

I really feel sorry for the player who was in two games where I crashed. Especially the second one where it was two of us in Peri .

Searched for some games on Peri with my Lvl 4 AW (CL, FSx2 (Fade Shield & Fade Step) and SB, no upgrades on all attacks, no Stormpact), end up in a Lobby alone.

Okay, I'll just go in solo and hope someone joins.

Now I haven't used AW in some time, while I worked on my agent icons (I got the last 3 two days ago  ) and never went solo into peri with him as a low level AW, so I was surprised that.....I actually had no problems.  Not even DDs could scratch me.

It went so nice, I actually hoped no one would join me and I'd get my first solo peri AW run.

Cleared Zone 1.

Cleared Zone 2.

Just opened the door to Zone 3 and walked some steps.....blackscreen....

But I can't even blame the DA servers, my internet was acting up (my phone couldn't load the BSN) so Cablecom was probably doing some maintenance.

The rule seems to be that disasters happen most often when things are going really well. Maybe next time will be  go better.

Played a couple early morning games, cats woke me up just before 5am like usual to be fed, so on the couch I went to log on. Searched Nightmare FC random and got in a good game, looked at the spread and no warrior, so looked at my warriors, and Reaver was lvl 8....eh, I can do this, right? NO! Was stupid enough last night doing threatening/routine achievement and took dragon rage over rampage for the 8th point, so no uber heal on hit, and when I get in, getting blasted by Bolters and Earthshakers...kite around, devour as needed, said 'let me be more helpful and get my 17 SS, brb'. Quit out and get blue screen error, but I'm in party chat so I said give me one minute, by the time I went to join, lobby full...oh well. Apparently the guy that hopped back in was in this lobby just prior and had a blue screen error, so technically I took his place, but no hating, right? Well, then they clear the dragon, and BAM!!! This guy gets his first Hakkon! As elated as I am for him, why oh whyyy did I quit out!? And thank you blue screen error for causing me that extra 90 seconds getting back in. So I still have yet to get a Hakkon. Anyways, not mad at all, and I gave him congrats, just thought I'd share this delightful experience with all y'all. Will stay on my mind at least for a couple days

Good job!  I don't remember I have ever played my AW outside of level 1 without a pact belt.   It is just so much easier with the belt.   I think I only unlocked AW after I got the storm pact belt.

Thanks I rarely, rarely use the Stormpact and if I do, only when I play with friends. Just too dangerous IMO.   Yes, I know, you get superstrong, but IF your barrier is gone, they can OS you.... no thanks. Without Stormpact I have at least time to drink a potion. (or zip away with Fade Step  )

Also I'm forgetful and hate changing the gear my charas wear (a Lvl 1 AW with Pactbelt is not fun  )

Went a little Peri pugging, ended in a nice Lobby with a SS (Lvl 20) and another mage, who then switched to Templar (Lvl 14), when they saw my AW (Lvl 11).
 
We went in and Vints~
Mid-game a Necro joins.
It goes pretty well, till Zone 5, where the Templar and I (who were fighting Calpi) have to rezz the Necro and SS, both laying far away from us. (it was Orlais, the map with the two big green flowerbeds)
After rezzing them it didn't take us long to kill Calpi and her group.
 
Next the Templar switches to Reaver and we get RTs.
We don't really have problems till Zone 5 again, where everyone, besides me, goes down at least once against Samson.
 
When we're done the Necro leaves the Lobby. The Host switches from Reaver to Saarebas aaand switches to FC/Nightmare/Frost.
 
So now it's: Saarebas (Lvl 18) SS (Lvl 20) and my AW (Lvl 17) vs. RTs.
We clear Zone 1 and just when we open the door to the Font a Reaver joins.

 

Zone 2 is fun, RTs should stay away from ladders when there a four people waiting underneath 

 

Zone 3 is....uuh...uhm.... the Reaver goes down, twice, before we even reach the bridge. (DR to death?) Also, someone thought it was a good idea to open the treasure doors in the middle of the fight  3 more RT Horrors, or were they Knights? I only got aware of them, after I saw a Red Skull below me, telling me the SS went down.
Okay, so down the ladder I go, while the Saarebas is busy keeping us barriered.
Soon the Reaver bleeds out outside of the tower to the treasure rooms. I'm not entirely sure what the SS did in that time, but the Saarebas and I got company by hordes of RT Knights, there was no end to them.
Somehow we make it over the bridge to the place with the Gong and the Saarebas calls the Dragon while there are still some RTs left, but not for long.
 

Zone 4 we make it to the Room of Shame and stay there, but not because we don't want to rush in, but because we need to get the supplies, which are on top of the last flight of stairs.

The Saarebas stands behind the wall, barriering us and casting Rings to make us faster/stronger, while my AW shots Stone Fists and CLs Knights from afar.

The SS and the Reaver wait till some Horrors decide that we're annoying enough to come to us.

Soon the Reaver dies again.... 

I try to stay at the entrance of the room, but the SS decides to charge at some RTs and goes down... Against my better judgement I drink a Stone Armor potion and go and rezz her.

Somehow some RTs got into the Tower and attack our Saarebas, because suddenly my guard is down and I'm in the reds... Next moment, I'm on my knees.   (it doesn't help that Horror's are immune to Lightning and nearly all Knights are dead, so I couldn't even barrier myself properly.)

I. Hate. Archers!

The Saarebas rezzes me when I'm back in the room. We fight some more and the SS goes down again, because our Saarebas gets bothered again. After rezzing her and killing some archers I go down again too. Crawling back to the room, I get rezzed by the SS before I'm inside.

We slowly whittle down their numbers and when only 3-4 RTs are left we dash up the stairs.

The SS keeps the Horrors busy, while I get the supplies and the Saarebas barriers us and casts the fire ring around me.

The Zone clear, we open the treasure room.

Hello Revenant~  <-- that guy was a piece of cake versus the RTs before.

 

Zone 5 Hello Frosty~ 

That fight was really easy after those four Zones before. I think I got most of her babies. 

Of course Frosty gave us no card at the end of the fight, but it was fun.

I actually think it's less dangerous to play with the pact belt because the barrier is much higher and grows faster. It can be kept even with basic attacks.
For safety, I pick guardian spirit which will give me full barrier instead of dying every 60 seconds. And also fade cloak.

AW + Hakkon Wisdom + storm belt is one my safest NM kits.

That's my build also switching out Hakkon with HoP.   It is my safest build for Perilous with a level 2+.   It is almost impossible to die in Perilous with the AW wearing pact belt.   Everything dies in one chain lightning.. and just basic attack in between.   NM is harder with the lightning immune guys where you have to slowly wear them down with SB/SF/FC explosion.   My NM safest kit is still Saarebus.   I really think she can't die in NM once she got barrier.

I PUG often primarily because I am morning and mid-day player. This AM I ran FC with lcneed. NM match against darkspawn. I was a L1 Lego. Lc was a mid-teen Saare. Flawless run, no dragon, and ~86k xp.

Always nice to run into a good Saarebas to speed things up. I even got a dwarf weapon that wasn't a bow from one of those games. Still a duplicate, but it's good to know other weapons do still exist.

Yeah I try to get 2 or 3 matches in before work in the morning.   I have 40+ on my friend lists, but at 4am PDT, usually only you and Gekrakel are on.   Normally when I try to join yours or Gekrakel's match in the evening they are full.

Absolutely agree, except I use the Heart of Pride.  I tried to play without the belt several weeks ago and I was surprised how hard it was to get my barrier up.  (no jokes about 'hard to get it up' please)

I ran my promoted templar through a few matches last night, and remembered why I never used her.  She takes forever to kill anything.

Not that safe. Yesterday I failed a perilous match against darkspawn Alpha Emissary at FC. Playing with a lvl 10 Katari together with a newbie Saarebas who went down soon.

All this after patiently killing all bolters at stage 4.

A lvl 2 AW would have survived.

Another evening of fun PUGs.  Except for some random reason I got two red skull eviction notices from random players I have never encountered before in a lobby AFTER we completed a run ... no idea why since I was pulling my weight.  The third player didn't vote to evict me so we went on to clear 4 stages of the next run just the two of us (before dying very unceremoniously to growling breather mask dwarfs on stage 4.)  Maybe because I was level 19 and it was a Threatening run?  I've never been booted from a group and I am certainly not a terrible player or a sucker.  If I happen to get dropped in on stage 5 ending flag I ALWAYS stick around for the next mission, out of courtesy.

 

However I am now completing Perilous runs without using potions and without dying so much (note I said "so much" - I still die.  Regularly.) ... so I feel better with each day.
