I've only seen new players being treated poorly by leaderboarder vets a few times (I won't name them). Usually people are pretty accommodating in this game. I like helping new players. Lately if our group has an open space, we will purposely go down to Threatening/Perilous to lure in some new players and bring them into NM.

Yes...yes we do.

Actually, this has worked out very well, in most cases. And not uncommon to start seeing the same names pop up in those games. I'm not even sure, if some of them have realized you upped the difficulty, and the matches have gone just fine. ;)

I've encountered a disproportionate number of elitist assholes this week. I've been part of this group at times in various games and I get it but In a small community like this, we need new players. It's getting harder to find pugs for perilous and nightmare and I think it's because of the way we treat new people. It doesn't hurt you one bit to carry someone. Why not accelerate their promotions to increase the number of players who can handle nightmare, benefiting every one of us? I'm not going into my theories on why some of you need to mistreat weaker players but I will say that it makes you look sad and pathetic.

I'm not suggesting that new players jump straight into nightmare but there is zero reason they can't go straight to perilous. I can't tell one bit of difference in mob strength with players in the fade so stop using that excuse. Three decent players can also carry one newb in NM and they don't need hundreds of promotions to do it.

I know some can't help themselves and will laugh at or ignore this post but you're hurting yourself. New players are more likely to buy platinum as well and you can bet that the server stops running when BW stops making money.

If you're on PS4 and you're new, add russ4ua14 and I'll be glad to carry you in perilous. If you're almost NM ready, we'll give that a try too.

Its the ones that go hide in the corner or sit in stealth and do nothing that irks me to no end.  If you can't try or start a conversation just join another lobby.

I am by no means an advanced player but I do make a point to go down to Threatening and even Routine everyday that I play and play with the new players. I like paying it back because so many of you helped me (and still do.) I have made many new PS4 friends this way as well. It's also cool seeing them in their with their starting armour and weapons and knowing that each stage is helping them get cool new stuff.  That is always some of the most fun parts of these types of game. Where each gold piece and each piece of new equipment is super exciting and useful!

I carry people all the time and I don´t mind. I only kick players who deliberately warp group ahead when they are working on treasure room or players who stand idly in corner, downright leeching. Both of these are rare, in my experience. Almost all players are at least trying, even if they can´t do enough damage or die excessively. No one ever talks on pc, so I never heard anyone trashing them and almost everyone tries to revive everyone, if it´s not suicide.

Maybe I am lucky with elitist assholes

I just want to say that I am really glad I am at the point where I can actually carry, because.....I still remember how we started and it feels really great being able to make a difference for a change.

so

Come to glorious pc, people, where you never hear what others really think about you

Soloing NM, FC

On stage 2 someone finally joins, Necromancer 13

He/She gets to the stairs, one smash, dead
This happened on the same spot on stairs.
Revived
Dead instantly
Revived
Dead instantly
Revived
Dead instantly
left game

I know you may feel embarrsed but you honestly do not need to leave the game unless you see a red skull. I didn't mind as you seemed to be trying. I would have happily carried you to the end. I was soloing anyway.

Stage 3 a Arcane Warrior 20 and Silent Sister 11 join
Both dead before the drawbridge
Finished zone and didn't call the dragon.

Stage 4 both died before 2nd set of stairs

Stage 5
AW followed me to the stairs, Silent Sister tried to rambo out in the open, and ignoring my "come here" call, promptly died
AW lasted a while on the stairs then died
Finished the zone myself

I know there are a lot of leeches but these guys seemed to be genuinely trying. NM was obviously way beyond them.

Highlight of my evening was seeing a character named "ChasingEternity". I think it's a cool name and sums up most players in most games. Great name. Wish I'd thought of that one.

Agreed. There are the sincere worthiness of players who will test the waters & find themselves way over their heads.

We have all been there. We have all felt the anguish, but don't rage quit. As Silversmurf eloquently puts it, "You're

in good hands." Unless your entire party dies LOL

I don't mind leechers. They are unavoidable in pugs. Someday, with persistence and a good sense of humor, We'll all

get better at it. Or addicted as I am.

Got an in game red skull. Then the player took his time to drop winter grasp and immolate on me, repeatedly, before coming into final circle. Because he thought I didn´t open warrior doors. Which, in reality, I did, but due to very heavy lag, they bugged and stayed closed.

And just when I was saying, how cool pc players are. :?

Got to be new guy.  Anyone who played long enough knows about the broken doors which of course is WAI. :P   Good thing I have mic and I would just tell them.   You know I always thought once door is broken it is done for good.  But then in one match I saw another of the same class could open even after I failed.

That broken Warrior door happens quite frequently.

It's not just lag.

When an assassin attacks you just as you try to open the door it bugs out too. Happens so many times to me.

So I played for the first time in months a few days ago.  I wanted to play as the Avvar, but I had apparently just promoted him right before I stopped playing.  I searched for a Nightmare game, and the only one I could find was a solo level 15 Katari already in the game.  I figure, hey, if this person is confident enough to start a solo game in Nightmare, then hopefully they won't have any issues if I bring in my level 1.  So I load in, and this Katari is sitting at the door leading into zone 1, just waiting for other players.  I figure I'm plenty strong and that I couldn't possibly be too rusty to take on whatever we are fighting, so I go running in the door hoping he will follow.  We ran made it almost completely through zone 4 against Darkspawn before we got more players.  I can proudly say that I had an immortal medal at the end (yes, even against the bolters) and about 30% higher score than the Katari at the end.

After that I find myself in an empty lobby, so I start soloing with my Avvar, hoping people will just jump in.  I eventually had one person enter, then after a couple matchs ask if I wouldn't mind switching to Ferelden Castle.  I said sure, and while we are at it, do you need any Heartbreaker completions?  So the Pug said sure, and ends up using a Saarebas.  Shortly into the game, I noticed that not everything was quite as it should be.  Turns out that the Pug got stuck in Narnia, so the match basically turned into me against the world with infinite barrier.  It took about 25 minutes to complete, which when you think about it is a pretty quick game for what was essentially a solo Heartbreaker on Ferelden Castle.  We were fighting Red Tramplers (easiest faction to solo against with the Avvar), so that helped a lot too.

Avvar with Saarebas' barrier is awesome.. because of the extra xp!   I don't remember how much xp I got this morning with NM.. but I only went from 18 to 19... I probably get more xp in a Perilous group.

Jumped into a NM game last night with only two people playing but I recognised them as being a real heavy hitters in the top 30 so I jumped in with my Saarebas to provide support. Not sure what I was really there for actually, they were so good I couldn't keep up with them as fast as they were killing everything.

Then one of the guys invited me to a few HB games, which was a blast. The guy was so powerful the damn dragon died instantly as it landed, like in 1 second. Amazing stuff.

Sorry I did not respond  to your invite the other day as I was near the last level of a perilous match and the rest of the team were not seasoned vets with lots of promotions or good equipment.

You are the greatest DA:I MP player to ever grace the world.

I know, right?  In fact, just as soon as I made that post earlier I decided to run a few games.  Literally the first Pug I played with recognized me as the "infamous snakebot".  I'm sure it was meant in a good way.  ;)

Played a couple NM's last night, smooth as butter. The two players were speaking some foreign language I couldn't make out, perhaps Portugese? Didn't mind not being able to blab as I usually do. Got back on this morning, started as perilous, couple friends hopped in, 2nd match a brand spanking new player came in on a level 1 Legionnaire. That would normally be a little annoying, but he immediately asked if it was ok or he could hop out. Just for that stay a bit and we'll tell you some cool stuff! So yes, he did die even if trying to hide, but its nice to be able to pay back the favors people have done for me when I started. Plus, he joined our game searching for random difficulty, random map, a bit risky method for a rookie. Anyways, had some fun with that, then we switched to nightmare. Still grinding those dragons for a Hakkon!

Just made some NM runs with TheArgh and Waffe_mit_Waffe_G.

Host switched to HB and I got it.

2nd HB for me.

One would say: no suprise with those players, but it was FUN, FUN, FUN.

(third player came in and played very well too, sorry I forgotten your name).

I was a bit confused about my prestige points.

Is it correct, that one star of the HB-Challange will bring you more then one point?

10 points per HB completion for the achievement, once you get 5/5 no more prestige just for completion. So 50 points all together for 5/5
