This is all Autumn and Silver's fault

D17kaG7.jpg

Congrats! So it's true if you post the items you've long pined for in the forum your wish will be granted? Please All Mighty Druffy God hear my prayers and bless me with the Hakkon bow :D

Just had a similar NM encounter as Beerfish and Terrell_Campbe11 have mentioned. At first I joined a perilous pug where a Hunter and a SS were talking over mic. It seemed that the Hunter was a veteran player with promotionlord status and was helping the fairly new SS. Later an Alchemist joined and we won with ease. Back to the lobby promotionlord said he could bump the level up to NM FC so SS could level up faster/possibly get hakkons from Dragon. He switched to Saarebas, promising he would try his best to support and pick everyone up if things turned out to be gruesome. Since he was going to do barrier I happily switched to a Reaver. We suited up and went in. It appeared to be random FC castle and we landed in Storm Dragon's nest <_< ..."Oh well since we have a powerful Saarebas in the group it should be fine...", just as I was thinking this promotionlord lost connection then host migration...Saarebas was gone so SS, Alchemist and me were on our own  We went in anyway. Zone 1/2 weren't too bad even though SS and Luka died once or twice. Judging by the number of their health bar they aren't quite ready for NM but they are skillful players, contributing as best as they can while avoiding death as long as possible. Zone 3 Alchemist faded, then SS too...I was left alone, dancing with panicked Despair Demons around the ancient gong...Though I eventually cleared the map, it was a long and excruciating process. I was so afraid of death that I used Rampage whenever I could, hence full health most of the time. But damage output was seriously hindered this way. Zone 4 was the same: Alchemist and SS faded before long. I slowly cleared...Eventually we succeeded in slaying the dragon in a total of 39 minutes...To top that off she dropped a level 10 one-hander for me :( ... my fingers were so sore from pressing Dragon Rage/Rampage non-stop. If I had brought Avvar I could have at least cycled through 4 abilities rather than mindlessly repeating Dragon Rage-Rampage over and over again.

I gotta apologize for this one Mr. Fish.  I should've known a little better than to run out against bolters as a lower level AW.  Things were going so well up to that point, too.

No need to apologize, we were just unlucky that there was so many shooting bolters out at the beginning.  I was not smart in my rezzing tactics i should have waited for people to crawl behind cover.

After a while you take that amulet for granted until you decide to play a character with out it.

When you use spinning blades against shield dudes, do you still recoil or does the amulet protect against those affects as well?

You still get recoiled from spinning blades on shield guys. You can also be paralyzed, frozen, panicked by terror/demon commander cry attack, and can be knocked down by the RT commander foot stomp transition between power levels. Enemy rogue twin fang attack will momentarily stun you as well. Lastly, even though this shouldn't ever apply to anyone with the PI, you can be knocked down from any normal knockdown attacks if using the Saar with the passive that prevents knockdown while wearing the PI. I guess it's like a double switch flip or something. Let me know if I'm missing anything.

Q: is it bad form to join a pug in a class that is already in the group?  Do people care?

Not necessarily, I'd say. If all class types are covered, there's absolutely no reason to switch. I usually switch if I have another char on similar level, but often I don't have much choice. And I presume that's the case for other players as well.

In a pug I tend to choose a class that can benefit the whole group, e.g. opening all the doors, balancing dps, tank and support. But I don't really care what class other people are using. They should play any class they want and can have the most fun with. Once in a pug we actually agreed to run every game with the same character. We had a series of games with 4 lego, 4 necro, 4 keeper, 4 alchemist, 4 Zither and 4 Isabella. With 4 duelists together everyone was stealing everyone else's elusive. It was totally a blast. :D

I always wanted to do the 4 of same class games just for fun. I only ever got to do it once with 4 Legos in a perilous FC match. The XP was insane. If I remember correctly, I went from level 1 to 15 in one peri game :o

The one mini problem with running the same class is that there's a slight glitch in the HUD where it will show every character having the same effects or buffs. If one AW had guardian spirit, the icon will show for other AWs even if they don't have that passive etc. Same for sunder effects, weakness, etc. I'm pretty sure it just shows the effects but doesn't actually apply them to both players.

I was laughing so hard the whole time that I didn't notice any glitch in the HUD :D If there are more people interested I would definitely like to do it again :P

Great and horrible weekend PUGs. Was so many people in Peri and NM that were fading in 1/5 leaving us short the whole run. I hardly ever play private games but on Saturday I had to because could not have a game at ANY level that was immediately jumped into my lobby by people dying in 30 seconds.

Please don't get me wrong I am willing to play with anyone and I did, but when one or more people comes into a match and fade in 30 seconds it leaves a lot for the other players to carry or you end up losing. Which happened a lot this weekend and I HATE losing a match. GRRRRR!!!

On the other hand, had a lot of fun with Kallen and others doing some mini-marathons.

agree 100% - I'll play with anyone that acts like they are trying or cares. I still start chars in threatening. I had so so many awful Pug Peri runs the last couple of days.

It's even more annoying when they die very far at the other side of the level and keep spreading 'over here'.

Quite a few good games this weekend, some newer people, some regulars.  Had one player chiding me for not using barrier with my Sera Bass as i had done in some previous games but I was only level one and did not have barrier yet.

Had a great time in the PUGs this weekend! Made two new friends who had owned the game for about a week. Brought them into my circle and taught them how to build a reaver and a s-bas. They liked the game much more once we started telling them how to play the classes. Also found myself soloing many MANY runs after encountering newbies who were completely faded by the first board. I'm enjoying the influx of new players because it's really testing my skills. Discovered I can solo a perilous with a lv 1 AW... also discovered that I cannot solo a perilous with a LV 1 AW if I forget to take off the belt.

Oh, and I had one guy that had me so confused I thought my brain was leaking.  I had played one match with him on my SS lv 1, it was a threatening so I was just running around doing my thing.  The next match I bring in my elementalist and this guy gets on the mic and starts giving me crap about not having gotten the warrior doors on my SS in the previous match.  I told him "shes a rogue, she gets rogue doors" He was so emphatic that the SS get's both and that he'd seen it happen that I started to wonder if it was something that I had missed for the last year.  I finally told him that if his SS could open warrior doors then more power to him, but mine only opens rogue doors.  I left and asked my friends if mine was broken because he was so emphatic that I didn't know what I was talking about.

So funny thing that happened this weekend (Saturday I think).  I'm in a random Perilous on my lv 7 Katari, the other three are doing very little damage but two of them are managing to stay alive... with a lot of fleeing involved.  We get to the third board on FC, I go right up the middle.  I'm in a chat with several of my friends and we are all relaying what is happening in our PUGs.  So I notice my three guys head downstairs and figure they are going to camp the bottom of the ladder for safety and fight there.  One is a reaver, one S-bus and the third was an archer.  So I figure I'll take the agro and just keep killing things.  Well I clear up most of the map, I'm standing next to the gong and turn around to look for my companions who are still below.  I suddenly see three nametags running like all holy hell together in a clump.  I go running after them to see what is happening.  They apparently popped a revenant.  They are running from it, it is chasing them, I am chasing it.  This continues on in a hysterical three stooges like cat and mouse.  The three of them ran together all over the map as fast as they could.  I'm running after them trying to catch the thing chasing them.  They were very good at evasive maneuvers, which is apparently why they hold up so well.  It was a hysterical 5 minute chase before I finally caught up to it and killed it.  Meanwhile I'm relaying everything that is happening over the chat to my friends who are dying laughing.

I promptly got a message asking if I thought we could try a nightmare :)

(To answer the obvious question - yes I took them through their first nightmare)

Tons of Pugs over the weekend, got to stalk Rhorim a bit, sorry by the way for the dodgy join and leave after on the perilous round last night, was showing a friend of mine how to play DA, he's an avid gamer but I haven't been able to suck him into DAMP....yet. He always plays mages, so I'd love to see where his Willpower would be after a couple months lol. Got absolutely no new gear, but I did manage to salvage a rare "superb ring of staggering" thinking it was something I already had....well I didn't, and I was a little saddened.

There is a huge influx of new players, thats for certain. It's up to us veterans to show them the ropes, but also let them know that their place is not being carried through Perilous and Nightmares if they can't contribute. Hopefully in a polite manner. I recall joining a public perilous where the one player in lobby at the time was a level 16 Saarebas, and I was on my Katari. We breezed through a zone, then another player in inquisition gear came in with a level 16 Lego. When that player died, he was verbally assaulted by the lobby host, which was not cool with me, so I finished that run and promptly left.

Though all these rookies can be frustrating, we all need to keep some composure. There are polite ways to tell them that they need to grind out lower difficulties or else face shame and likely assaults by people lacking patience. I feel like most of the newbies will only play a month or so, as they got the game for next to nothing. However, if we represent a kind and sharing type of community, some of these players might turn out to be good useful friends. So lets keep in mind that we all started out as 10/10/10, but don't hesitate to kindly let someone know when they are swimming in waters too deep.

Had the most ridiculous match tonight that gave me a migraine. Two guys accused me of hacking because 1) my health kept going back up (10% heal on kill) and 2) because I had ice armor (staff of despair). One also accused the other of hacking because his alchemist armor looked like he was wearing a diaper and there was nooooooo way the game devs would allow something so ugly. I was also accused of hacking when I used a health potion while fighting the main boss.

One's score was 214 so not a complete newbie. This was on PS4. I hope someone else stumbles onto them who can explain because apparently I was too 'defensive'.

I ended up not rezzing them and letting myself die. Petty? Yes, but it made me feel better.
