A big thanks to lcneed who proposed a very fun build idea to me. Hook and tackle with the hunter. When upgraded, it has no cooldown or stamina cost. It also does damage which the description does not mention! I have not played hunter for a long time just because I would rather play archer if I want to use a bow. But hook and tackle finally made the hunter fun for me again. The other skills I took were leaping shot, spike trap, and explosive shot. Just hook onto an enemy, drop a spike, use leaping shot, or just simply attack at close range with the basic attack. Hook and tackle combats one of my last favorite activities in this game, walking. Also it seems to stagger enemies, even shield bearers, which can be opportunistically used. It may get a little obnoxious for teammates to see you zipping all over the map constantly but it's great fun. Works great in perilous but probably not so great in NM but I haven't tried it there yet.

I also tried hook and tackle on the assassin just for kicks and was really hoping it would do heavy damage with the bosun blade equipped but enemies always turn around before you get to kick them in the back when soloing anyway. Didn't get to try it a team game.

 

I figured out how to get into treasure room of another class.  Getting out is another matter... if the room doesn't have a lever door.   And you could also get back quickly to the zone entrance if needed... like a poor man fallback plan.

Just out of curiosity, is this isolated to a specific map/zone for you guys? When I went through a phase of it, it was always, always when someone joined in FC zone 2.

Any map, any zone, but not all the time. At least in my case

My search for pugs lately

Had a gruesome game last night, Perilous with my 1st level Sara bus vs Vents, fire dragon.  Due to a series of unfortunate circumstances the rest of the team faded at the beginning of the final wave, the gong had not been rung.  So I ended up battling the last wave for a long long time. 

 

Finally get down to Calpernia and myself in a mage vs mage face off.  I had run out of all potions.  Get her down to a sliver of life and I go for it with lightning balls finisher, ..... up goes her barrier....she casts her fire orbs and I get hit by dragon breath at the same time and I croak.

 

I felt worse for the teammates that hung around in the fade for  6 or 7 minutes watching me battle and then fail on the last opponent.  If we were fighting the frost dragon would have been a solid win, or if the dragon has been summoned no problem.

Joined a perilous game yesterday with two other randoms. The leader was a Saarebas who did not seem to be ready for perilous even though he had barrier. This person faded on zone 4 against bolters leaving it up to me and the other guy. I was a level 1 hunter... The other guy held his own but wasn't setting any speed or damage records. So the two of us slowly clear out all bolters and everyone else. The sound of the key dropping appears and we head towards the zone exit. The screen goes black and the leader disconnects.
I guess he figures I had so much fun with bolters as a level 1 that I would like to do it a second time which is exactly what happened.

Sometime I forgot how much defense help with the promotions.   I would running around playing Knight Music thinking that we are invincible and then will see a archer or hunter dies with a few red spikes from RT.  How could you die?  Don't die!  Live!  I gave you Knight Music you should live!  Please?

Almost fell into Nug rage on my last 2000g for the FC gold challenge.  Guy kept spawning the nug, but wouldn't go after it.

Played in a Peri PUG tonite. I enter at 3/5 FC and the two people there were huddled in the bottom by the TRs and were killing peeps as the came downstairs and they had a TR boss chasing them as well. So I get there and help wipe everything out fairly quickly. One dude goes to the top TR room and starts yelling for us to follow him there. Where he then "shows us" you can hit some targets thru the door. Well after 30 seconds of that and it taking forver to do any damage, I just open the bloody door and proceed to wipe everyone out. Well dude red skulled me instantly. But the other person doesn't so we get to 4/5 and quickly mop up the place. Then on 5/5  I notice dude is staying at the bottom and not coming out to help fight the dragon. Then I hear on the mic, "This is what you get for opening that door!" and POOF he's gone. REALLY!!! You are going to "take your ball and go home" because I opened a door AND not get ANY of the XP? REALLY?

 

I just laughed as me and the other person took down the dragon easily.

Haha that's how we used to play nightmare dragon when I was barely able to survive perilous.  Do not open the top door in map 3.  Opening that door is death and ruins among us.   Was that guy the host?  I think he was trying to force a failed host migration so no one could get anything to get revenge.

 

It's kind of weird as time goes on, all the survival tactics went away as in just about any match, someone or everyone in the match could solo that match.   We used to block spawn points... now it is.. don't block the spawn points so we get more xp LOL.

During this match against qunari we've actually been on the edge of death several times. While I was pestered by assassins and constantly knocked down by shield guys (yes, amulet of renewal instead of PI...), Terrell_Campbe11 had to escape from the boss leveled shock trooper with a teeny tiny bit of health...As flustered as we were, I couldn't help laughing at the scene where an Avvar evasively(and skillfully) ran away from an enraged giant, hided in the corner to wait for cool downs while holding a huge spoon the entire time  Luckily a duelist joined at wave 5. If Isabella hadn't come to our rescue, we might have died shamefully with our utensil/food in hands

I'm not sure if the pugs hold any grudges against us cuz I've spent so much time not active in battle, e.g. posing in a scenic view, taking selfies, or shadowing Terrell_Campbe11 trying to get him on camera

 

Putting fun aside, it's really a wake up call which alerts me that how much I have been spoiled by hakkon weapons and PI. It's only when I was left without their protection that I relearned the importance of raising your shield timely and properly. Shield holding is an art, PI makes me forget about that

 

So last night I went down the list of friends and tried to join their games... all full!   No PUG in perilous or NM either.. so started a public perilous and after a while, 3y3vr3 joined to give me a hand...... wait... or give me a ham?!

EDIT: And by his reaction, trying to punish us by hurting himself, shows (IMO) I wasn't dealing with the most clear thinking individual.

Played a whole bunch of nightmare dragon runs last night and a couple this morning. Had good conversations with friends, killed stuff quickly, got some promotes. Overall a very enjoyable experience!

 

Since I usually post here to state the latest drama, figured I would switch it up to say everything has been wonderful! ...Except work. Hot, humid, then rainy, humid, sweaty. Hard, time consuming jobs. Thats the drama I expect to see on a daily basis!

Yeah you know your limitations, but if he is new then I bet you pretty much freaked him out by opening the flood gates.  I did that to a group new to perilous before, the guy was screaming at me to stop and yelling how we're all going to die and its my fault.  Then he shuts up after 5 seconds of me killing everything.  He was fine afterwards.  Course I was on my mic as well telling him to settle down its fine. But thankfully I don't run into that too much these days.
