Grunt, had to solo a match with 1st lvl AW as no one joined.

The damn level was full of stun goats, i hate those things.

Finally get to the end of the match, bumps me back to mp screen, no exp.   GRUNT!

(Cracks knuckles) It's time I refined my friend's list. I guess its always easier to accept the friend request, but I find myself being stalked by 8 year olds who 'want a hakkkkooonnnn sooooo bad" so I gotta cut the fat. That and there might be about 40 people there who no longer play DAIMP. You (as in forum people) all are safe!

So, had some interesting games this week.

Tuesday night I was playing with Terrell_Campbe11 and 3y3Vr3 with a couple of other friends rotating through the 4th slot. Played a couple of Heartbreaker games which went quite smoothly, completed them without any exceptional problems. Interspersed with these however, we were playing some Nightmare dragon games in which everyone was playing Assassin, Hunter or Duelist and using either Hook & Tackle or Gangway to zip all other the map. Everyone was either having too much fun doing this, or too confused playing builds unlike anything they had attempted before, to play the slightest attention to behaving in a tactically sensible fashion, so we ended up wiping 3 times, before finally reaching and taking down the dragon on the 4th attempt.

So apparently NM is harder than HB?

Yesterday, I had a little time to play so I thought I would level up some Level 1 mages. Started with a 1st-Lvl Keeper and went looking for a Perilous game, and ended up in a lobby by myself, so I just started playing Solo. I had mostly completed the 1st level solo without too much trouble when another player joined, and promptly proved to be a complete noob who typically ended up going down within a few seconds of starting a level. Shortly afterwards another player joined who was only slightly better. With both these 2 regularly fading out and buffing everything, I was not able to successfully complete the match. I was not much concerned, but figured I would just keep playing with the now somewhat-leveled Keeper rather than switching to another Level 1, since these guys apparently needed the help, and got ready for another match (which only the 2nd of the 2 stuck around for). Again, this guy was the opposite of helpful and we both ended up going down on the 4th level as I futilely attempted to save him from the Bolters.

Now I decided to switch to AW, who is pretty low-level but not quite at 1. I figured that he had enough levels to generate Barrier, so I should be fine. Unfortunately we got Qunari, with Barrier-dispelling assassins (did I mention I was wearing a Pact Belt?). Despite this, and the remaining noob still regularly buffing the Qunari, we managed to get to the final zone, where the Qunari Commander+Assassins+everything else proved to be too much.

At this point I switched to a Level 12 Necromancer, which was a bit higher level than I really wanted to play on Perilous, but at this point I just wanted to successfully complete 1 match with this guy. I figured I was leveled-up enough to deal with this harder-than-soloing exercise. I was not.

Finally went back to AW, failed to run into Qunari this time, and tore through everything with relative ease despite the usual regular fade-outs from my companion (no one else joined during this entire time). At last! I cannot remember the last time I had so many failed completions in a row.

So apparently Perilous is harder than NM?

I shudder to think what might have happened if I had played any Threatening games this week.

Many experience this and often go stealth as a result. I like to help people (just as I was), even if that means a friendly chat about game etiquette. Most, it seems are quite understanding. One notable exception was a brand new player who I carried for several NM dragon escapades. For several days he would ninja into my private matches. I let it go for a bit then finally asked that he please just ask if it is OK to join. He became upset, wrote 'FY then', and removed me from his friends list.

Met a nice couple who play the game together and were new to Dragon Age MP.  They were running a 20 AW and 20 Saarebas through NM for dragon wins.

After 5 or 6 Dragons I suggested we give HB a go if they needed the clear.

They seemed very happy to give it a go.

Had no trouble getting the win and fairly quickly too (I was Reaver)

Got a nice message at the end thanking me for the help.

It's great to run into nice people when playing a PUG.  I really enjoyed last night.  So if you guys are reading this forum and stumble across this post, know I had a great time too.

I haven't have any problem with that, probably because I am not that OP and no one wants to follow me around.   But I often wonder how old are some of my friends on the friends list.  Most of them seems to be 30+.  But just the other day, I was talking to one and he started saying if I had school today I couldn't play.  As I was thinking must be college.... he said something about "I really hate school."  Oh.. hmmm..  could still be college right?

Over the years I have found lots of people from other countries call it "school" up to the age of 21.

I have found there appear to be more newbies playing, especially over the last three or four weeks. Which is great.

I have also found, though, that the disparity between players in NM and even in perilous is quite large as these new players try to learn their limits.  I have seen so many new players die to spiders recently.  Spiders.  If there is any sign that you are playing above your pay grade, it is consistent death from the little black spiders.

PC players seem to be older. Never heard kid's voice while playing. I'm 32 and most of my friend list looks 18+.

I have to say, those hook and tackle NM games were some of the most difficult games I've played in a while but also some of the most fun! HB felt like threatening compared to those   Probably because none of us were trying to evade anything and instead just constantly hooking anything that moves. I was really hoping we could all simultaneously get on top of the dragon's tower and have a party! There was blocks of cheese, piles of gold, and a fried man up there. What more could you ask for?

Today I finally worked up the nerve to solo my first Perilous. AW with a belt but still proud of myself. Whoo~ My nerves were wrecked afterward.

Took my level 1 SS on a Perlious run afterward in a random group consisting of a Katari, Isabella and a Reaver on FC. All three were dead before I even got to the first set of steps. Revived Izzy who was closer and the other two faded while we cleared and it was easier going from there.

Also ran into a certain person on the LB for the first time. Opened a treasure door and declared "I'll open it but I do it by myself." at which point I left the match. The loss of XP and time is worth not dealing with that mess.

Wow the rest of us who were left on the ground looked so tiny from the tower top...Honestly using hook & tackle to get there is hard...I suffered serious fall damage from the failed attempt, which was clearly captured by your picture (so was Defau1tError I guess)  :P  That was a fun run...

If you enjoyed that perhaps we could try to think up some other ideas for similar themed games. A couple of ideas that occur to me off the top of my head:

1) Everyone plays Katari or SS and Charging Bulls all over the place

2) Everyone plays a pact-belted mage, other than AW or Saarebas so keeping Barrier up is work.

3) leaping shot only
4) fire mine, spike trap, mines, or other droppables only.
5) one that I think would be extra interesting; Saarebas dragon breath and elemental wall only. Two skills that most of us have probably never used seriously.
6) I would suggest walking bomb or explode on kill weapons only but I think that would likely crash the game

Assuming these plans are all for NM:
1) both katari and ss are pretty much unstoppable killing machines so it should be fairly easy...unless the rule is ONLY using charging bull...also Avvar can charge too ;p
2) so that leaves the elementalist, keeper, necro and virtuoso. This seems to be very interesting cuz with the first three there can be all kinds of crowd control...and virtuoso? He's omnipotent... we will have a good time against bolters or Qunari for sure :D
3) hmm but what should we do when leaping shot is in cool down? Basic attack? :P
4) who can beat Luka when it comes to mines?
5) I am one of the many people who have never used these 2 abilities ...But I am willing to try
6) I actually think playing 4 necros who all use walking bomb might be fun...survivability is another story though...
7) to think more of it not everyone is lucky enough to get spoon/ham :P so maybe not a good idea after all...

Welp, this is, without question, always going to be my longest-running thread on BSN, up until the day it gets locked, and then later deleted.

Okay, when I originally went to link that video... I honestly did not realize how disturbingly on-the-nose some elements of it ended up being... :P

But, in any case, if we don't make it to 250, as the video says, it has been an honour playing with you this evening.
