Your Last DAMP PuG

I've found that I don't mind pact belt in PUGs if I have some DoT ability that is an almost guaranteed kill so you can benefit from HoK, if you get downed. examples being cool beats, firestorm, etc. Elementalist can confidently cast barrier with the flashpoint passive ability too which helps for him. A group of two others and I did a NM match the other day with all of us wearing pact belts and no AW or Saar barrier spam and the elementalist's speedy barrier casting helped a alot.
Though, there are multiple times when I've played with newer PUGs and used the pact belt in an attempt to speed up the round a little (and I like big damage numbers...) only to end up getting downed (usually from magic attacks or stabby rogue assassins, the biggest weaknesses of the pact belt) and the team wiping afterwards. It could usually be avoided if pact belt wasn't used but then the round would take much longer so I guess there is a trade-off.

Finally got the nerve to try inferno pact belt on my elem. Fun, but I'm not sure my PuG partners have enjoyed it as much: one minute OP-kill'em-all, next I'm one-shotted into the fade
.
Thus is the life of the pact belt

It's best if there are other teammates to back you up like keeper, saarebas or virtuoso so you can focus on dps. In pugs it's definitely harder cuz more attention to the surroundings is needed. Barrier yourself constantly. Stand on fire mines ( or put them in choke point) to avoid the backstabbing of assassins. Panic/knockdown ranged attackers before they get you. As Terrell has mentioned always keep some mobs on fire so you might self-revive when they burn to death. It's part of the fun

Pact belts are fun but I really think it is only useful on AW when it doesn't really cost you anything. I have seen promo lords with 7/8 bars of hp wearing pact belt trips their guardian spirit trying to revive people. When you get a group of qunari assassins who can dispel barrier, you really need that hp buffer even if defense is maxed!
And I think the pact belt damage increase is inversely proportional to your willpower. The more willpower you got, the less effective the pact belts are. I remember when I first wear pact belt at 30'ish wp, it helps a TON. I think I double or triple my damage. Now wearing pact belt gives me like 25% more damage. Maybe because pact belt damage increase is based off weapon base damage only? I am not sure.

I only use the pack belts on my Zither. The problem with that is he is a real wrecking machine until the final wave when he has a tough time staying alive.

My WP is 650. Just tested w/ power cord against templar archer and swordsman. I see an increase from 18-23%. Can posted video if interested.

Like 20% increase right? So lets say without pact belt, 5000 damage, with pact belt, about 6000? Or do you mean that you go from 20% to 100%.. like without 5000 damage and with pact belt 30000 damage?

yes, like a 20% increase.
Yeah. Mine is actually closer to 30% I believe. And when I was at 30 willpower, I think I did over double the damage (100%). I think as your cri damage and attack goes up, the benefit from pact belt will hit a bottom.. probably around 20%.
I can test my current increase, but can't go back in willpower. Need someone with lower willpower to go test with the pact belt! ![]()

That's a shame, but that makes sense. Next time I get on I'll try and test with my wimpy willpower ![]()

Twice. In the same zone. At least one of them was not by you.
Nice games, though. As you say, always a pleasure.
Also, thanks to calvandyr for trying to drag my Saarebas through a HB duo... everyone I invited said no.
And my lack of physical immunity really showed. Impressive carriage skill, though.

As for the amulet, ~3m mustn't be enough to get it.
Pretty sure that if I ever get all the items for the Crescent, PI will be the last one.

Okay I tested it on AW basic attacks with hakkon and chain lightning. It seems my damage increase is actually about +80%! Not quite double, but close enough. So when I was at 30 willpower I think my damage was triple or more. I need to test my saarebas fire damage. I don't think I will get +80% because I am already doing like 5K in NM.. could I do 9K? Hmmm.....
Done testing. pact belt adds about 80% for me at 172 willpower. And other strange thing.. not sure if it is luck or not... I went into nightmare solo about 12 times.... got druffy twice. That's quite a lot of druffy..... did not get dark spawn even once.

When we were playing in NM the other day, I could have sworn you were doing 9000 fire damage with the Saarebas. I even asked if you were using the pact belt since that seemed high based on the number of health bars I saw for you.
Anyway, in the course of three games yesterday, I also got Druffy twice. Almost twice in a row! I don't think my teammates ever saw him before. And, there was even some dancing disco action at the end.

I agree and wish it wasn't part of the game. Pre-PI requires much more skill and awareness.

I think I got it now! I was thinking why do you think 5k was high and would think I was wearing pact belt? I think you saw my damage right after I pop the weapon pot. In the end I thought we are going to wipe anyway might as well take as many of them with us as possible.... BTW, it was HB not NM. ![]()
