One reason I like playing Elementalist (now they are released from probation)

is because no-one expects them to barrier.

I have some thumping offensive spells AND I barrier their injured ass.

Awesome  B)

I snuck into a threatening game in progress with my freshly promoted elementalist, managed to out damage the high level assassin, who also didn't finish wave 5 yet I somehow did.

My lvl 1 ele snuck into a threatening game, as well. 2 out of the other three tried to auto kick me.

I outranked them all. (rock armor potions helped)

Had a very entertaining couple of matches just now.

I got into a lobby of what I assume are new-ish players - no portraits, no titles. Alchemist, Katari, and an Archer fairly leveled for Threatening. I went in with my Archer thinking, hey, we'll likely do dps well enough that the Katari doesn't drop before all the enemies are killed. Long story short, we wiped on 3/5 against Red Templars.

So we go back to the lobby and for some strange reason I start thinking, you know what, I'm not giving up on these guys. Thankfully I had a level 19 Legionnaire all set up to go. The game starts, and I'm just praying that we don't get Demons as the screen loads. And we get... Venatori! Awesome! We went on with it, the others still weren't doing too well. The Alchemist and Katari were in perma-fade by 3/5 so it was mostly the Archer and me cleaning up (painfully slowly, as I don't have offensive skills on my Legionnaire).

In the end, Alchemist and Katari went down again, but we managed to beat it. It was tiring and definitely wasn't a clean run by any means, but I had fun!  It was a nice change from lobby hopping just to get the run of the mill matches done.

I don't know why but I love babysitting noobs. Maybe because I don't wanna be that ****** who pugs or auto-kicks the new recruits. Maybe because I'm bored and need a life.

Either way, I always barrier and set up cc safe zones for everyone to flee too when it get's tough. Then I mop up for them if they run into trouble.

Between that, I ususally run around in circles and shout, "Go Teamwork!!" while they get the feel of it.

My favorite Pug from last night was watching 2 keepers (levels 10 and 12) try to kick me because I was level 1. Then they head into the game WITHOUT BARRIER and fade by Zone 4. I unmute everyone (habit to mute them all) and the first thing I hear is "f***ing noob keeps letting us die!" The third guy, playing on the alchemist, is just talking back to them and they're just getting madder. Alchemist had gone down three times as well but I picked him up every time.

So we enter Zone 5 (RTC btw) and both keepers are somehow down within the first minute. I guess they tried to camp the room, on routine, without barrier, and got "swarmed". The alchemist is calling for help as he tried to tank the RTC but ran headlong into a group of 3 archers.

Then the dramatics started and I really lost it (it being the grip on my controller from lol'ing so hard).

I kid you not, this is what I hear (my PSN is Dragon_Lake):

"Dragon, I'm not going to make it." *fake cough* "Tell my dwarves I...I love them. Good bye my random companion." *explosions from that side of the map* Then he narrated "ascending into the fade". "Hey look! Its Jesus! Nice sandals," out of no where.

I dropped my controller and died to a group of archers. Wipe on zone 5 routine with a level 7 alchemist, level 10 and 12 keepers, and myself as a level 1 necro. Keepers kept talking about how useless I was until we got to the results screen.

There I am, top of the leader board, with my level 1 necromancer (which is only tied for my favorite by the archer). Alchemist was in second and the keepers were last with half my score combined.

Many lolz were had. I hope to meet that guy again soon.

This is outstanding. What level was this? Routine? Lvl 8+ keepers should not be dying in routine no matter what the condition. Fade step and barrier.

On a side note: what's with these tools warping people out of treasure rooms. I got this 3 times yesterday. If you want to speed ahead that's fine. But I'm signaling you from the treasure room, you can see that I'm kicking arcane horror butt, and I'm running to the damn treasure chest and then you warp me before I can get the gold???  That 4 1/2 second wait time must be killing you.

Arcane warrior try hard kept spamming over here on doors then running off to solo the map while I opened them. This was on routine and I was on a level 1 archer. Then another guy would run in behind me and open the chests only to get killed by the arcane horrors or revenants. I played 2 or 3 games with these guys cause it was too much fun.

If someone warps me out of a treasure room, I'll wait until they fall. Then I run circles around them until they bleed out.

Barrier-less Keepers are a thing that I've gotten used to seeing, even if I can't understand what they think they are doing.  However, the guard-less Lego was formerly a myth--until this weekend.  Now I've seen the horror, the awful truth with my own eyes, and I'm not sure that I'll ever be okay again.

To this day, I'm still not sure whether "he" (or more likely, it) was just trolling, or was some sinister alien intelligence here on a scouting mission.

Some things you can't unsee, bro.

That's another thing I saw this weekend: Legionnaires who DO NOT generate guard. No wonder XBox One didn't complete the weekend challenge. The class has two trees that both have skills that increase guard so how do you even drop shield wall? I kid you not I have seen kits like Combat Roll, Pay Back Strike, Shield Bash, Grappling Hook.

Arcane Warriors who don't Spirit Blade are pro. Legionnaires who don't generate guard are atrocious.

I don't know man, you can only promote a class so many time using the same 4 abilities before it gets boring. Nothing wrong with changing it up with unorthodox builds to keep it interesting and fresh.

A little harsh, my Legionnaire is not equipped with Shield Wall but does use Payback Strike.  :)

Counterstrike, War Cry and Walking Fortress are sufficient.

I'll admit, a sword and shield that both generate a little guard on hit do help.

I'm not against dropping Shield Wall. I'm against taking 4 offensive skills and having no way to generate guard and me having to come pick your drunk dwarf butt off the ground...

Speaking of drunk dwarves, I miss Oghren...

I personally find the DPS of the lego really pitiful. My keeper accidently equipped with an Inquisition Staff starter put out more. I'm not against mixing it up, but the lego needs to be able to tank or at the very least, generate guard.

Deja vu. An elementalist, keeper and me as alchemist, all around level 10, breezed through a somewhat laggy silver game and killed demon commander but then elemantalist who was the host apparently crashed at the victory screen. After about 20 second wait we re-spawned at the entrance to zone 4 (not zone 5) with another elementalist as a host who was not in the original game. We went through zone 4 again and poor demon commander had to die again and this time it also went well. But I did not get any experience or gold from the first run although kill medals were there for both runs in two separate stacks. WTF?

Also, in another silver pug I was scorewhoring with legionnaire. Actually, it works pretty well if other people play passively or die a lot. At level 15 I was ahead by about 50% of a level 17 AW and level 18 keeper and about 2-fold over a level 14 archer. The archer died a few times though and keeper and AW spent a lot of time in treasure rooms which I kindly bashed for them but ignored and instead ran ahead to the next spawn to obliterate it. Anyhow, with all buts and ifs it was somewhat satisfying. Especially stealing kills with PBS inside arcane warrior's PotA. Disclaimer: I don't normally scorewhore and don't care at all but all these recent AW threads really got through to me.

I feel like the alchemist has the widest range of viable abilities, there aren't any that are a must have so it's fun messing around with builds.

The Alchemist keeps on giving for build options.

And Luka is both badass and funny !

I'm debating what class to play exclusively for a while to get the banner, alchemist is looking like the front runner. I doubt I'll get bored with so many options. Plus the banner looks cool.

Weapon definitely helps.  If you get rare Dwarven Crusher, it will make a world of difference.  It's a "two (or more) birds with one stone" kinda weapon.

Otherwise, so long as Lego draws aggro, and keeps guard up, that's a huge help to the team.

Hate those kinds of guys.  Next time I run into one of those morons, when they die, I'll repeatedly pretend to start reviving them, then stop, rinse, repeat until they finally bleed out.  It'll be fun!   :D
