Druffalo are RELENTLESS. Tactics don't work on them, stealth don't work on them, the only thing that works on them is a good whupping. A couple of days ago my Alchemist was hunted by a Druffalo on Threatening. "No problem," I thought and popped into stealth. The Druffalo was not impressed and continued to headbutt me against the wall over and over again. I was 100% pinned and couldn't move anywhere, I could just proceed to watch my health bar getting obliterated.
Today I promoted my Alchemist and jumped into a Routine PuG. It was me, a Reaver, an Archer and an AW against the Venatori. Things were going recently well, the Reaver and Archer went down a couple of times but we made it to zone 5. I ran over to plant the flag (because I had stealth) and the rest of the group followed me. "Alright, so they don't want to stay in The Room™. Good with some variety, this'll be fun," I thought.
Things were going well; then, within a span of 10 seconds or so, the Reaver and AW where knocked out. The Reaver perma-faded and the AW was swamped, while I ran around wondering what the heck I'd do the Archer went down too. I started to run towards him, but he also went into the fade. I tried to run back to the AW, but he was still surrounded by enemies and bled out before I had the chance to resurrect him.
By now I was out of potions, sweating and swearing loudly while leading the remaining Venatori swordsmen, archers, a brute and the Venatori commander on a merry chase through the rooms in the Orlesian Chateau. I threw a confusion grenade on some swordsmen, they kept the rest of the mooks busy while I stealthed and killed the archers (who was the biggest threat.) The remaining minutes was a haze of kiting, throwing Elemental Mines in doorways behind me, stealthing, backstabbing and running. I'd like to imagine it looked like I knew what I was doing but truth to be told I was stressed out and shivering like a Chihuahua left out in the cold.
I saved the Commander for last; her attacks are easy to avoid as long as you keep an eye on the ground and don't step on her fire mines. Finally killed her and felt pretty good about myself. This was the first time I finished the 5th wave alone as a lvl 1. Glad it was Venatori though, my poor dwarf lady would have had a harder time against the DC or RTC.
