Someone assumed I was playing the Arcane warrior to show off. When in fact I was playing the Arcane warrior because I couldn't find a lobby. After trying quick match 3 times, on the fourth time I just played my Arcane warrior.

The thing is the new 5th wave changed has made pugging perilous worse with more fails and less lobbies. However, the major issue now is Pugs are less trusting of the kit one brings into Perilous. I brought a lvl 13 hunter and it took a while before the match started. Then I chose my lvl 12 Assassin and couldn't find anyone willing to play. Both these kits I used to bring to perilous at lvl 11, and lvl 4 threatening.

Guess I will need to find people to play with consistently and stop pugging like I did in ME3. Ps4 btw, and I started solo leaving the lobby open. plus I usually change to another class if I find a good group after the match.

Perilous: I was playing an Archer way too close to the action (an AW doing his thing) but an Elementalist kept Barrier on me anyway.  Thanks man!  After the 3rd room and as many deaths I finally hung back by my babysitter and remained healthy to finish.  We were short a slot too.

A little more caution over kits and level is no bad thing.

If it means people run with a higher level kit in Threatening,

or a fully equipped kit in Perilous, that's much better than:

'here's my Level 1 - it will be fine in Perillous, lol'...

Just like me this morning. Brought my Assassin lv18 into an ongoing Routine game for a quick dose of DAMP before going to work. Of course we owned the place.

For our next game I decided my lv1 Hunter needs levels and the game started. After the first pot (18 gold) I noticed we were on Threathening. To my surprise we still owned. Our Keeper and Lego went down quite a few times while I downed only in the final fight and our brilliant other Keeper topped the charts with kills and also barriering us all pretty wonderfully.

Being second on the charts kicked me to lv9 right away.

Umm? Beg pardon? What did being second on the charts have to do with it?

The charts at the end are showing who contributed to the XP pool, but all XP is shared equally. You get the same share of the XP no matter your placement on the charts.

Unless of course that broke at some point and I never got the memo.

Also, congrats on the 2nd place finish on the charts with a Lvl 1 Hunter contributing to the PUG's XP generation than two other better leveled players,

You asked a question yet answered it in the next paragraph. :)

I just mentioned it for the bragging rights. Most likely though the others were in lower gear than I was. I was packing a Griffon bow.

Also looking at the classes, they were a support and a tank while I was DPS, ranged at that, so I was kinda supposed to hit more than a dwarf who often times couldn't reach the enemies.

Now that I think of it I almost feel ashamed for even mentioning it, since I clearly had the upper hand.

I was downed once and got sent to the Fade. No idea how that happened, my connection wasn't laggy or unstable.

I met a keeper in a pug I just couldn't understand.

She spammed for me to open a door (which I did and then entered to help get the so called "treasure"), but she and the other ran ahead to the next mob. Since I opened the door already, I decided to stay and deal with the treasure room guardians.  Unfortunately, she and the other both died. Now all the red dots are converging on me and she was spamming for rez 3 rooms away.

Why? :pinched:  Even if I was able to ignore everything trying to kill me and ran to them, I wasn't sure I could have made it to rez both of them. They were that far ahead. The other rage quit due to bleeding out and she was rez'ed by the door.

Moving on, at the next door openable by me, she spammed again... She wouldn't do the same thing as before, right? RIGHT? Well, only one way to find out...  :?

I guess shame on me for falling for it again  <_< She did, except this time, she left on her own. Our new 3rd decided to stay with me in the treasure room. Experience did teach her, though, as when she realized she was in over her head, she ran back to the treasure room. This time, all the red dots could meet and greet with us before she bled out. (And bleed out she did; it might surprise you, but the moment she reached the treasure room she died.)

Seriously, why? Why ask me to open doors when she had no interest in the contents of the room? Do doors offend her? Was that the entire point of the exercise? Was I supposed to just obliterate the doors and then run away? I am so confused

I see that happen often. They're notifying you to loot the gold for the bunch while she heads onwards. I see this pretty often on Routine and I gotta say I'm guilty of the same myself.

My excuse for doing it though is that I know both parties can handle whatever comes their way, either I know we're that good or that the chest inside the room is in no-enemies room.

The point was, obviously, for you to collect the gold since you were her minion. You completely missed your role! That´s Princess Basics 1.1

Personally I ignore room demanding spammers till I'm good and ready, take my time finishing off mooks, then I'll waddle towards you. Might explain why I get kicked alot, meh.

Gotta love that.  Oh no, the mooks won't come after us anymore if we open and enter this room...So let's ignore them..

Demons, on threatening.

I'd decided to pick up my ele again after 2 Necro wipes in a row. I haven't used an ele since back before the key glitch, and I'm pretty sure I'm running a dodgy build, no firewall :(

Anyway, I join a game in progress halfway through zone 2, with a katari, reaver and AW. The AW and Reaver already have 1 kick vote each. Whatever, it seems to flow quite smoothly. By the door of zone 3, the katari also had a kick vote. I'm all "lol wut?", but we keep going. It seems that these guys dont want to res each other, so I'm on barrier, cc and resurrection duty.

In zone 5, they go down one by one, and after a while it's just me and the katari. And then just me and DC. I'm down to flashing red health, no more health potions. So I kite the *sshole, suddenly grateful that I had fade cloak on my bar, and it's taking forever... until I realise that as well as forgetting to equip any potions or bees (BEES!), I was also using a level 10 common staff. A loooong while later, extraction and much e-peen. Tried to ready up, but they'd all gotten bored and went afk.

@piffle

Douchebaggery at its finest. Just run over to them and bring a revenant with you. Much hilarity will ensue as they get sandwiched against their will.

@CrimsonN7

No, you get kicked for hating on DA2. Angry-Hawke is not impressed. :P

Just led a match as a level 1 Archer on Threatening with Demons.

Longbow of the Griffon for the win. Love shooting three arrows at point-black range into a Shade's chest. It's very satisfying.

I do that too with guardian-possible rooms when I'm playing with friends and/or I am confident in my team. But when you are pugging above routine...  are you supposed to have blind faith in random strangers?

OMG, were you in the game with me?  The keeper did have the word "princess" in her name... Maybe the fault was mine for not picking up the hint

Lol I wish there was actually a "waddling" animation, just so the pugs know you could've "ran" but you chose to use the animation slower than "walking" to get to them

I wanted to be a good little team player, because if left to my own devices I'd ignore the doors. Lol you're evil, I like that   But what can you do them when they are already in the fade?

Nice.  I can truly appreciate LBoG for the up close "here, take three of these and call me in the morning.  sincerly, Dr. Death."  I have to be careful though cause I find myself ramboing sometimes and flirting with disaster.  it's great with the archer, but with the Hunter, and threat reduction, flank for the win.

Decided I would play a fre matches of DAMP before bed. I hopped in a Threatening game in progress that had just started. Went in as a lvl16 Alchy. There was a Templar with a gamertag that I recognized, and remember being a pretty good player. As well two other guys who seemed to know eachother, An Arcane warrior and an Archer that were kind of voice chatting away in a mildly obnoxious way. I load in (destruction path elven ruins) and get right to it and immediately get ravaged by lag spikes. Run through with the occasianal teleporting around due to lag. We get to the room where there is the big broken ramp that leads down the open area. The AW runs way ahead and SBs everything, the templar is just tanking away. The archer somehow has aggro on everything and dies and I go back to pick him up but cant target him and he bleeds out. The AW drops i think and its just me and the templar. I keep getting weird misses with shadow strike (i guess due to the lag) but we end up getting to the end of area 4 and the Warror skips a door, the two guys start berating him about skipping a door on threatening (60ish gold max, cmon) and the templar just hits the door and teleports us. They go off talking about kicking him and flinging insults at him.

We get ready for wave 5 but the templar either doesnt realize we all need to be at the flag or is trolling to ****** off the loud guys yelling at him for not wanting to walk back to the start of the zone to open the treasure door. We end up completing the opp, Predictably the archer died on wave 5. There was no second match, I went to bed.

I wish people would just chill. Gold is great and all but It doesnt kill you if you miss one door.

The problem with the zone 5 change, and spawns being more random with a plethora of archers and ranged units are that: (1) it really limits what classes and kits you can pug at high difficulty levels with now. (2) you are screwed if ur whole team is nothing but archer/hunter as it's much harder to bottleneck with long LOS (3) going to have to spend more time in threatening pugs just to level up your class which takes a bit longer.

I don't mind the changes to spawns, or to zone 5, but if you have any interest in extraction the options to make it out of perilous pugs would now have an even greater emphasis on classes like the AW to carry pugs through.

I think the whole idea was a cunning long term balance plan.

Biower A: "game is ez becuz cunning promotes"
Biower B: "lock camping room in zone 5. gimp archer LS. make harderer for assassin/hunter/alchemist"

Yes, this creates an even bigger divide between certain classes, more mages in perilous.Characters like the reaver will be even more reliant on group composition and coordination. It doesn't really effect the AW, or legionnare, to any real extent,it just makes the squishy characters even squishier due to the spawn influx of archers.

Last pug was pretty uneventful, routine with a fresh Katari. Started solo after one too many lost sessions, was joined by an AW and a... hunter, I think it was. Steamrolled all the things.

What makes it stand out is what had happened before: Quit a group after one run with my archer because it was super laggy. Noticed I had gold for a large chest, so decided to pick that up before logging for the night. Hello, very last card in the pile, you look mighty purple. But you're probably a rune to be salvaged. Ooooor, a Sulevin blade. I'll have that, let's test if it's an upgrade on that common sword. Holy hell, is it ever...
