Dear low-level Archer who joined my Perilous game while I'm playing Legionnaire,

Please don't run up and face tank the enemies. I'll do the face tanking, thankyouverymuch. Please stand at a distance and Longshot (or heck, Explosive Shot) some dudes.

Yours,

Walking Fortress Is Good Legionnaires Are Good

 = = =

Dear Alchemist who keeps dying while I'm yet again playing the Legionnaire,

Yes I am going to revive you. Also, I heard the first six times you called "Get over here!"; no need to keep mashing that D-pad. But you need to be patient enough to let me get in a position where I'm not also going to die. If you're in such a hurry you could lower a branch or throw a rope [/PrincessBrideReference] crawl behind cover somewhere close to me.

Yours,

Just Waiting A Few Seconds For Walking Fortress To Recharge

What's with the regression in quality players in pugs post patch? I understand that removing the healing font room in zone 5 made things a little harder but it cannot be the main reason why teammates keep dropping like flies. Ever since the last patch I've witnessed kataris who they thought they were invincible and tried to take on the whole mob across the map by themselves than go down, also seeing more arcane warriors getting downed which is weird because he is close to invincible with fade shield. I don't think it's the changes post patch that has caused such a decline in play, it's really a l2p issue and I can't blame bioware rather it's the players.

Balancing classes is not the issue if players have no common sense or brains, if they continually put themselves into bad positions and others have to pick up their downed corpse, rather they should actually communicate with their mics rather than just breathe into it which would help. I've also encountered more fade cloak glitchers, afkers, and leechers, this past week as well. =)

4 peri-peri extractions in a row with katari on a pretty lag free host. The keeper probably (definitely) had something to do with that. Then with my ele, one epic fail where I got humped to death by 3 dogs (dogs 2op, biower pls nerf) and two zone 5 crashes in a row, followed by ragequit.

Edit:

@DrakeHasNoFlow

Some of us still suck on perilous. It's a learning process. That's the beauty of pugs, sometimes it'll be a zone 2 wipe, other times(ie with a keeper or ele) you'll all click as a team, and stomp all over RTC. I personally don't mind so much, because it would be hypocritical of me to get mad at pugs for stupid decisions. I guess if you're used to extracting most of the time, it'd be pretty frustrating.

Katari were buffed, leading to more perceived Katari confidence.

AW's were nerfed leading to more AW failure based on previous AW confidence.

Zone 5 was buffed leading to more failures

Players were still the same failboat before, they just show it more often.

Gya, that's the thing I've encountered the same issues even on lower levels not just in perilous, players seem too egocentric and individualistic even on threatening to realize their surroundings on zone 5. I've put too much emphasis in the past regarding class balance issues, but when your team has arcane warriors, even legos, falling like flies on lower difficulties because they are halfway across the map, something should clique in a player that lets them know their position isn't ideal.

The player based got used to the room of shame tactic. Now post patch they need to adapt.
... And adapting can be very hard.

I still see some people trying a corner Come Here whenever someone runs off.

With the peeps currently playing I'd say most have enough experience to play their class strengths, which for Archer means lining up a lolshot, Assassin circling around archers, Katari rushing around having enough room to kite RTC and stuff while the lone Keeper is trying to keep everyone in the corner with them so she can barrier everyone against the bosses' AOEs.

What I'm saying is that PS3 Europe has adapted quite nicely and I'm having a lot more fun this way. Perilous lobbies aren't too crowded nowadays though, so my experiences are mostly based on Threatening.

Surprisingly successful level 1 Threatening run with me (Keeper) and one other guy (Archer), vs. Demons. Our basic strategy was not to let anything get close, which works well against Demons because only the Lesser Shades like to rush you. Also we were lucky not to get annoying animals, just some of those lizard things.

Zone 5 was super hectic. We downed the Terrors ASAP, the the Archer drew aggro from the Demon Commander and led him on a merry chase while I picked off as many Wraiths as possible. Level 1 Keeper cannot cast Barrier very often, but I made good use of it to catch the Archer whenever I could.

I used both Healing potions and I think he did too, but in the end we prevailed!

All my matches are PUGs.  Most of the time, it really isn't so bad.  Most people seem to know what they are doing and understand how to play their particular class/character.  Occasionally, you get people wandering off too much and it causes problems.  Or a Keeper that focuses on offense and rarely uses Barrier, but that seems to be the exception and not the rule.

Hm, which platform are you on? After the initial wave of fail post patch 6, most pugs seem well geared and aware on threatening, at least on pc. Of course, every now and then there's someone who decides to run across the map like they're Marco Polo. They can watch the rest of the game from the fade.

Suicidal resurrection attempts cause most of the threatening wipes I've encountered recently, always in zone 5. There needs to be a key to spam to say "Not here! Stay over there! Kill the archers! No, stop running over here! No, no, no, NONO NO NO... welcome to the fade". Have to admit, I'm prone to doing that, it seems like bad manners to leave someone down. :D

Also, just had an embarrassing zone 5 fail in a perilous non-pug, one person switched out, before they could even rejoin the rest of us were dead. ^_^

I'm on Xbox one, perhaps it's a console community:region thing rather than a whole. I'd say 1/3 pugs end up in wipes now in zone 5, which isn't a bad thing since its at least a way to spice up an otherwise stale multiplayer. If I could port my gear and stats over to pc steam, id play damp there but sadly it's not worth it.

Joined a routine game where we went through the first area fine, but the second didn't load correctly. No enemies and the next door was open to Narnia. The host(?) gets on his mic and starts ranting "OMG THIS IS A HACK! Which one of you is hacking?! You're both being reported!"

It was more entertaining than most routine games I've played so it had that going for it. :D

Had a very nice perilous match with some good players.  I was on top of my keeper game even though I had the audacity to play perilous with a level 11.  We beat that scummy Red Trampler Captain.

Joined a party of lv18 Elementalist and lv19 Katari for a few Routine runs with my lv3 Alchemist.

I don't know what they did, but I think something, as my trek was really easy. Their contribution didn't show much because I topped the charts easy. Even after a lv18 Hunter joined the fun for a few games.

The Hunter later left and we got a Templar. Man, was he a hoot to play with. Spamming Come Here on every door even when we were swarmed by demons and even on the doors he could open himself and that were known to contain no guardians. I had played with him before and he should know the safe doors.

At one point I got so fed up I turned on my mic to tell him we all saw the door but are quite busy with the enemies right now. After the enemies were vanquished I opened the door and quit the game.

Few times after that I saw him in the same lobby and left instantly. Later on I saw him on Threatening and since there were no other lobbies of that difficulty available I decided to bite the bullet and go on. He still insisted on opening the doors but this time the others wouldn't even away into his direction. I played one zone constantly spamming Come Here and left after finishing the run.

How are you a lvl 19 Templar dying against demons? DEMONS! :o Frustrating cause I had the demon commander to a sliver of health, got downed, and the Temp ignored the almost dead DC to revive someone and ended getting KILLED by said DC. I had 103 kills at the end of that match.

Zone 5 peri wipe.

Has DC had a stealth buff to his swipe attack? I was TTD smashing him (or trying to, anyway...) with my lagtari, and 1 swipe insta-gibbed me from full guard and 2/3 health, which it never did previously. Possibly lag related damage pile-up, but usually when that happens, the snot balls from the wraiths that I can't see attacking me yet tend to buzz around the edge of my character.

I then had the pleasure of watching from the fade as an AW solo'd zone 5. With spirit blade. Ugh. I was actually rooting for DC.

I've been noticing something with the AW's Spirit Blade.  I was soloing Threatening as my AW last weekend for the Weekend Challenge and somehow managed to kill the Inquisition guy I needed to escort with one of those shockwaves that are usually sent when deflecting projectiles.  Recently, I did a few Perilous matches and decided to switch to my Assassin.  I tried throwing a Hidden Blade at a Red Templar Knight multiple times while an AW was Spirit-Blading it to death, only for it to never hit.  Not to mention that I had full health and nothing was attacking me, yet I still was taking damage.  I noticed a shockwave come from the AW, but not going towards an archer or anything and the lag was negligible.  Had the same issue in the same match in zone 5 too, so I doubt it was a one time thing.

I also remember a Threatening match I did a while ago as my Alchemist.  I threw on Flask of Fire and spammed Elemental Mines while one of the other people in the match face-tanked a Revenant (I think it was a Legionnaire, iirc).  There were no other enemies in the room and I noticed that as I was tossing Elemental Mines at the Revenant, shockwaves like those from the AW's Spirit Blade were hitting me and dealing a lot of damage to the point where I dropped.  Very, very weird.

Anyone else encounter anything similar?

Patch 6 (current patch as of this date). BW confirmed Katari buff on the twitch stream. They have more hp, generate guard on hit.

AW nerf has not been officially documented by BW. The Barrier capacity has been nerfed.

Many other changes have occurred that were not documented or not publicly released. That sucks, and while good for internal development, is bad for PR. Customers like me hate their product being changed without being told.

It was the caltrops damage thread. The bow that's messed up is Helpful Hazard, the one that drops caltrops.

I played a bit yesterday, had some good games, some bad games, promoted my AW for the first time. At the end I used him without the spirit blade, and I like him way better that way. Lightning chain + stone fist/pull of the abyss all the way, and I played with an elementalist so it was a pure joy to drag enemies into his wall of fire :)

Another less joyful experience was when I was playing a threatening game in the Orlesian chateu, trying to level up my lvl 18 alchemist. I used the flask of fire + tons of elemental mines build. At zone 4 me and the legionnaire accidentally aggroed the next group of enemies before I had time to stop and open a locked door, so we continued to kill them. The two other players stayed behind, spamming the "over here!" and I answered by highlighting the enemies in front of us to signal that we had some ugly Venatori to take care of before i could unlock anything.

Suddenly I was kicked out of the game, and I still don't understand why. Was it because I didn't unlock the door? The legionnaire must have voted to kick me too, and he was at the front lines with me. Et tu, Brutus? I hadn't died once, and I wasn't ignoring downed players. Did they think I was killstealing? I can't help if those zealots run into the explosions ;(
