I tried that once on perilous. Charged ahead with the Katari, got a full bar of guard, knelt down and started warming my hands on burning paper. 4 wraiths turned around and shot their mouldy j*zz at me. Next thing I know, I'm in the fade and have gonorrhoea.Ah well, seemed an interesting theory
...
It's fun though running ahead and saving the heirlooms in the nick of time, don't you find?
That would make an interesting weekend challenge - enter the zone and the health bar starts dropping straight away![]()

You can sort of get that during one of the zones (Museum, maybe?) in the Orlesian Chateau. You know how you enter the zone, go to the right, up some stairs, walk across an outdoor/covered walkway, and wrapping towards the right, down, and around is the rest of the map... but, from that top of the stairs area, you can look down to your left to see the last mob of the map, the exit door, and - if recovery - the objective. Sometimes, an archer or mage gets the bright idea to shoot at the enemies there from the top of the stairs and aggros the spawn early... which causes the heirlooms to start to degrade. *facepalm*
You then have to haul ass around the rest of the entire freaking level and ALL the mobs to get to them. ![]()

There's another zone in the Chateau, the one with the stuffed animals, where it you go too close to the closed gate it triggers the heirlooms on the other side.

Pretty sure the burning is triggered by your proximity to the items rather than whether or not you aggro the mob. Had plenty of matches were pugs aggro'd the last mob surrounding the items from a pretty damn far away (mostly mages, Archers, or Hunters) to draw them away from the items so we could kill the enemies without the items burning up. Plus, the area you're talking about has 2 spawn locations for the items, the second being in front of the second treasure room.
Honestly, I think that the proximity trigger for the one away from the treasure room should be smaller. It's really annoying ![]()

Those looms activate on their own I think? At least they always do when I'm playing. It seems to be that the game only recognizes the player's proximity horizontally so you could be sky high right above the heirlooms and they would still activate.

Then perhaps it's the shooter's proximity to them - i.e. getting right up against the railing to shoot down - that triggers them.
I just know plenty of times the whole team has run by on that crosswalk and they weren't activated. But every time some jokester like Gya (
) felt the impulse to shoot down there, they'd trigger.

Actually, I've gone through that area plenty of times with the items down there and they start burning even when people don't attack the mob (honestly, it seems like that's a relatively new tactic on PS3, since I hadn't seen anyone doing that until quite a while after people first started mentioning it on here). As nibyl said: the game seems to only recognize your horizontal distance from it rather than your vertical distance.
As for my matches, I had one where I was going through the Chateau as my Hunter and used Hook & Tackle on a dead Hyena, which sent me inside one of those houses you see lining the sides of the path. Good thing I had dropped a Fallback Plan before using Hook & Tackle, otherwise I'd have been stuck.

So AReguera, don't know if you use BSN, but sorry I didn't accept, it was all a bit weird. If you're not on BSN, chalk another one up to the general public being odd.

Some assassin literally did every step possible to mess up a threatening victory. We were on the demon commander who had less than 10% health left. I was on my lvl 7 keeper and died, followed by the legion and archer. Boss had 10% left, assassin tries to revive one of us, but sees shes about to die. She goes stealth and throws out an attack at the boss and misses. Auto attacks at thin air twice before getting hit in the face. GG

The burning of the objects is activated by player proximity and line of sight, but the focal range for the LOS is quite generous.
More fun this way. Always makes it interesting when it starts burning early, splits the team usually and makes everything quite chaotic.
I love it when things get chaotic.

Yeah, I've noticed this happen too. It's most likely due to the Final Sacrifice passive (Keeper has access to it too). Next time I'm doing a match with a Templar in the lobby and the scrolls/heirlooms/weapons are almost gone, I'll tell the Templar to let the enemies kill them.
Would be interesting to see if they listen or if I'll just get a kick vote.
I use Cycle of Life on my Keeper and commit suicide when the party health is getting low, just run into a mob and die, all party health restored, not sure if the rest of the group understands how they suddenly gained full health, they probably stand there going: 'why the hell is that keeper running into that mob?, what a fool..' Not been kicked for it yet.. ![]()

Interesting moment after releasing an Arcane Horror, it aggro'd on the Venatori Mob outside! It completely ignored the party and went for the Brute at the other end of the room, very odd but we took full advantage of the situation..
Never seen it do that before, but then usually we clear the mobs first (directed at mrs Reaver who was too eager to kick in a door with enemies still around..)
