Played several matches yesterday for the first time since my pc went kablooey. (My HD, processor and motherboard failed. Basically, the pc apocalypse.) It was really strange to see everyone actually not skipping treasure rooms. Everyone I played with were excellent players. It was just lolroutine, but... rother enjoyable.

I haven't really played in a long time so a little rusty. Have had quite a few games where I've died recently ![]()
One notable one was with three newbies that joined my level 1 Keeper's Routine game. I was trying to get the chests for my solo weekend challenge when they popped in. Surprisingly, they were pretty good. The Legionaire was trying to block the archer's arrows with shield wall, the Archer was....doing archer stuff and the other Keeper was frequently dropping barriers.
Unfortunately, Zone 5 of Elven Ruins was that one with the big open field in the middle and guess where the banner plant spot was? Yeah right in the middle of archer heaven. I tried my best to keep the team alive, but they hang out in the open too much and we all eventually die. The Legionaire and I were the last one standing and he was frantically trying to protect me with shield wall as the hail of arrows descended upon us. Good effort man!
Then had another game today, I was a few chests away from completing my solo weekend challenge. Host a Threatening game on Tevinter Ruins and start it solo. My plan was to get the mage doors as that should have been enough to complete the challenge. Some other peeps join and to my annoyance they are skipping the treasure rooms. That's fine, might not be the fastest, but I can usually solo the treasure guardians.
Get to zone 4, last treasure door is thankfully a mage door, a freebie. I open the door and I'm literally two feet from the chest when I'm ported to the start of zone 5 ![]()
Finish up, get back to the lobby, I check my challenge log:
1 chest short of my goal ![]()

I had just this also...
Have folk noticed more new players?
- Running the wrong way into free chest rooms / map areas
- More base armours on view
- More dying
- Even shooting mage doors with staff, as I saw the other day

Yes. Saw one guy yesterday who joined halfway through zone 1 in the château. He got lost. The archer had to run back to guide him.

Game crashed in the pre-game lobby ![]()
There's definitely some new players around, had a keeper in a threatening game who used nothing but fade step and energy barrage. Or maybe she had been doing that for a while, who knows? Needless to say she didn't last very long.

Just got through playing 3 perilous matches, win/loss of 2-1, me being the legionnaire, someone a katari, the other two a keeper and I think an archer. Matches went all right, with me making an occasional screwup with my skill layout (which caused the party wipe in the first place). Demons and Venatori weren't too much of a problem as long as I had the enemy's attention (Counterstrike made that easy), but it's the RTC that had me boxed in and the archers melted my guard like it didn't exist.
Basically the first time I've played in an effective party on perilous. Until my game crashed to dashboard before the next match started. How I feel right now:

Was just soloing my Hunter in the hope others would turn up.
New Elven Ruins map.
Well, in zone 3, there's a gate that leads back down some rubble with a free chest at the bottom.
I'm annoyed it isn't my kind of door, but then you think, I wonder of I can climb up some loose rubble to, er, bypass the door?
After much hopping, success!
And with free chest in sight I slide down straight into an invisible wall, blocking my path, with no means of return!
Eventually a couple of players dropped in and transported me forward,
but you do feel an idiot squirming the other side of a wall while they are looking at you ![]()

I dint know it was possible to outscore anything on the alchemist, let alone top the board. I can't tell why, it was probably my aggressive overuse of knockoutbomb

Interesting guy last night, playing AW, clear the area and he goes on his mic and 'demands' several times to be teleported (we are all the same distance away from the door mind you, wouldn't be a problem if he was the only one far away..), sounded a bit like the Inquisition Messenger, so, like the good little minions we are, we trundle over to the end door and,,,,,,,, we all wait. hahaha! He finally comes over, grumbles something and we carry on, he left straight after the match, didn't even see him on the final score board..

I love when people argue over trivial things. Guy got so mad that someone warped us ahead before he could loot a treasure room. After some bickering the response from the other guy, the one who warped us ahead, was "Check the leaderboard" Seriously? We can see that you play the game more than others, congrats!

Most of the time I want the player base to grow but there are some people I wish would just go do something else.

I fired up my 360 last night, to see how that community was doing on it's challenge (don't ask lol). I decided to play a couple of matches as my beginner keeper, just to see how the experience would differ. Forgot that my mic was on...realized it before I completely humiliated myself ("ow! wtf did you come from?!" and the like). During one match, I joined and took so long loading that I got caught in the airlock (glad to see that's being fixed in the patch)...talking to myself, as I am wont to do, I said 'oh crap, I'm trapped behind the door'. I hear...'yeah, you are'. Of course, once everyone has been knocked out, I get thrown into the courtyard, and who is waiting but frakkin' Samson and his minions...trying to wend my way to my comrades, I hear 'be careful'. I tried, I honestly did, but just as I reached the group, Samson reached me...poor little level 3 Keeper didn't stand a chance.
Oh, I think I found the Alchemist's glowing lichen...all the plants were fluorescent green on my 360 - yikes!

Speaking of new players, it's good to see those who aren't completely oblivious. Played some routine as level 1 and we had a keeper who REALLY liked using barrier, even after we had just cleared the zone ![]()
Better to use it too much than not at all.

Not worth the attempt ![]()
I took Cillian over to take a few screenshots.
The climbing point is in zone 3 (Ruin) new elven map.
You can climb up, but the invisible wall jams you the other side of a large block
and you are going nowhere...

On a slightly related larcenous note, given that in MEMP there are a few 'break-out' areas,
I have tried to find them in DAMP and have totally failed, it is an extremely solidly built set of maps.
