So, two things I've noticed from PuGing a little:
1. Demons seem to combine stunlock and OSK. I've had demons the last 5 or 6 games in a row for zone 5, and they've all been wipes.
2. 50% of the time I go into the store, the entire game gets stuck on "downloading data," and I can't even reset using the Xbox button. I have to shut the machine off and reboot to get out of it.

what did you do?
It may have had something to do with not camping the room of shame on Zone 5. That's the only thing I can think of that would make sense.

Well, I've now wiped every game I've played since the first three (which were mysteriously successful.)
It's been the same every time - demons in zone 5, that stunlock and OSK everyone.
Obviously I don't know what I'm doing, but I'm having a hard time seeing that as the reason why I've wiped about 10 times in a row... :l

Well, the wipe streak is up to about 12, now, but at least this time I was stunlocked to death by Templars, instead of demons. That was different.

if you are SPRINTING and you jump just a split second after the "smoke" appears around you that signifies the DC (Demon Commander) is about to pop up he will miss you. Kinda iffy with a crappy host, but its possible.
Leave the DC to ranged classes and you kill the add if you're not.
Never ball up to get all hit in 1 move.

So far, I've only played the Archer. I think I'm having a hard time seeing the smoke, because I never seem to have any warning before he gets me.
However, I've noticed how much slower I move than everyone else. I've checked through the menus, looking for a hint as to what the sprint button is on XBone, but I haven't been able to find it (and Googling for the manual just gets a bunch of links to MP tips that don't explain the controls.)

sprint is subtle, but it does obviously make you move faster...it may take some time before you can notice it. On PlayStation you just push down on the left analog so you may try that.
archer is a good class....you just need to have a good bow. Really the game will decide what class you should play...by what item and equip you get as you play. Thats really what you want to do...utilize the good loot. The casters are the best overall though.

At first, I was doing it for the weekend event, but as luck would have it, I unlocked my highest DPS weapon just as I reached 100 kills, which ended up being a bow.
Now I'm doing it because I'm kind of getting the hang of it, and it seems to be a fairly easy class to play. I also got lucky, I think, with the skill points that I spent before I knew what I was doing, so he seems to do a lot of damage. I managed a 10 kill streak the last game I played, which I figure is a decent sign that I'm moving in the right direction.
Thanks for the tip, I'll try the left thumbstick (that is one of the few things I didn't try, yet, so it's probably the one.)

@Jeremiah12LGeek
The Demon Commander is the most OP out of all the faction bosses. I find that jumping and moving around when the Demon Commander goes underground helps prevent me from being hit by him. Spirit Resistance Tonics really help since his AoE and ranged attacks deal a lot of spirit damage.
Since you're playing as the Archer, I suggest grabbing Leaping Shot as soon as you can if you don't already have it. Be sure to craft better armors for the Archer since he (like all rogues) doesn't have access to Guard or Barrier generating abilities. You could grab Evade if you want, but it's not necessary, imo. Leaping Shot is a pretty good avoidance ability, despite it being buggy from time to time.
The Red Templar Commander is the second-hardest faction boss. You're better off fighting him at range since he's pure melee for the first 3rd of his health bar and his ranged attacks that he gains at 2/3 and 1/3 of his health take time to reach you. His leaping attack (1/3 health) is easily avoided if you move to the left or right when he points to you. The ranged attack he gets at 2/3 health is similar to Earthshaking Strike, but takes longer to travel, so it's easily avoided as well. His Whirlwind attack has a knockdown effect, but he moves slower, so you can kit him fairly easily.
As for the Venatori Commander, she's the easiest boss. All you need to worry about is having Fire Resistance Tonics and taking out the adds.
Hope this helps.

Also, just try holding down your main attack button (it's R1 for me, probably right trigger for you) while your main attacks are on cooldown. It seems like a stupid, obvious thing, but I can't tell you how many times I was repeatedly hitting R1 only to realize holding it down makes the attacks faster.
I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed sometimes. ![]()
There has been the discovery of reload canceling for sword and axe animations already. I've not really tried perfecting that yet and do not know if that applies to ranged weapons like bows and staves.

Yes, as Gamer said, as soon as the Demon Commander goes underground, start running and hopping. When he springs back up from the underworld is when he "sync-kills" a party member... i.e. deplenishes all health and someone has to go revive them. There is a veeeeery small window of time between seeing some smoke on the ground and when he bursts up, so I play it safe and start running zig-zags once he's under. LOL
PenguinFetish made a video showing this sync-kill and how to avoid it. I've got it in my Resource Library, if you want to check it out. ![]()

As luck would have it, demons have been my Zone 5 guys for all but one of my wipes, which was the Red Templar dude.
I only learned the holding RT trick just in the last few hours, as I started to play the campaign (now that The Keep is finally working.)

Yeah, a lot of games where I've fought the demons ended in wipes too. Once you get good gear, a good team, and/or good classes, you should be able to survive fighting him.

I have a nifty bow, now.
Or, well... nifty by my standards, which I suspect are pretty low, given my limited experience.
The only thing I don't like about it is when my "back up while using one of my bow powers" habit turns into "turn around and shoot your power into an inanimate object, wasting it."
I do that a lot.

What's the DPS? The bow I have on my Archer has 190+ DPS, iirc. Granted, I've got a Lightning Rune on it, but I've got a rune on all my weapons, so whatever.
The most powerful weapon I have DPS-wise is my Sundering maul which has 290+ DPS and a Superb Lightning Rune on it.
And yeah, I've had that issue too. If you click the right thumbstick, you can lock onto enemies so you don't have to worry about that as much.
EDIT: My bow's actually at 151 DPS and doesn't have a rune. Hate getting my weapons stats mixed up.

Katari dropped by wave 4 from, I'm assuming, embarassment since he kept dying Rambo Style.

I forget the DPS, but it's in the neighborhood of 100. I have a lightning rune on it.

this must be a katari thing. i have yet to encounter one that wasn't dumb as a box of rocks and that might be an insult to the rocks. at least if your dumb with a ranged class there is a bit more forgiveness from the game as you aren't in the thick of battle usually.

It seems that all magic user parties are OP, at least on routine anyway.
I've gotten mine to level 12 so I suppose I'll start doing some threatening ones. See if I can't get some more kits unlocked.

Same.
I was on my L7 Keeper who had both Barrier and Static Cage along with duration rings for both. I thought having my Pathfinder title would be proof enough but one guy in the lobby wouldnt hit ready until the other guys booted me so I left.

Cant possibly do threatening on level 7. ( We should make a video of just level 1 guys doing it)

Ah, that's good. Turns out I was remembering the stats on my bow wrong, though. It's at 151 DPS and doesn't have a rune on it atm. ![]()
