Anyone kind of scared?
Only if the devs decide to go with the metric system.

I had the expectation that DA2 would be at least as good as DA:O. I don't think that was too high an expectation.
I also had the expectation that Bioware wasn't going to flat-out lie to us about ME3's ending. I don't think that was a very high expectation either.
And seeing as how both those games were given high ratings by sellout journalists, I'm reserving any and all expectations for this game until I see very good user reviews.
I have high expectations of lots of things. For me, if I expect to like something, I end up liking it. I have never understood the immediate disappointment with something. Oh, well. Mostly I just stop paying attention to cynical people, it just pisses me off.
I think Bioware does a commendable job at trying to cater for the many varied gamers out there. Just take a look at this thread, for the large differences of opinion on a simple topic like favourite/non-faviourite party members.
The gaming community is a microcosm of the wider community and unfortunately, like the wider community, there is the vocal minority that shouts loudest, while the rest of us sit back and say wtf are they so upset about, but stay silent. I must admit I was one of the silent majority during the ME3 ending fiasco, the gaming press so like controversy. No, I'm more upset about the false advertising after the credits when we were told there was going to be one more story about The Shepard -grin-
I've found it's the characters in the ME/DA series that keep me coming back. The stories up until now (exception DA2), are outlined basically as Recruitment Drive followed by Main Event. DA-I seems to be different in this respect, so hopefully we will get wonderful characters, intertwined with a graceful story .
People tend to forget what a great game mass effect 3 was, because all they remember is the ending. I was lucky. by the time i reached earth the extended cut was already available.^^ Dragon age 2 wasnt that bad if u don´t take the level-recycleing into account. I may sound like a bioware fanboy but they gave us adventures with characters that are really hard to forget (BECAUSE THEY WERE AWESOME). Personally i enjoid every bioware title i played. Of course there were stronger and sometimes even really weak ones but there has never been something like an aweful piece of ****.
ME3 got more hype than DAI at the moment...and really, I played throguh it like two days because I wanted to see the end (oh my...). But when you take teh hype away, as well as the whole ending-debate...well, ME3 is not much better than DA2 was. (Side-Quest-Eavesdropping? How lazy is THAT?! Tacked-on multiplayer? War-Assets make no sense and have no impact whatsoever, entire characters that were important in ME2 just get dropped, combat is repetetive and mostly horde-mode after horde-mode, all in all everything is downgraded from ME2 - which also was not the great game people's nostalgia make it out to be..)
However people never seem to be forgiving with DA2 and Hawke, but that silly Extended Cut has swayed a lot of people to the fogiver-side.
As far as I am afraid about DAI? First, I don't see this game as much hyped as the above mentioned games. The RPG-hype of today is, one has to acknowledge it, The Witcher 3. And a lot of the anticipation with DAI seems to b more: Will Bioware suck once more? Or will it be a decent game this time?
I am looking forward to DAI, positively. But I do NOT expect the best game ever. There will be design-choices many won't like, story-arcs that many might not like and so on. And I will decide after I have played it whether these potential issues are really bad for me or not.

We're all scared! It's the human condition. Why do ya thinks I put on this tough-guy facade?
OP, your fearfulness is a result of your own negative thinking (and quite frankly a huge waste of energy) and has little or no relevance to the quality of Inquisition.
From the very little we've seen so far, this game is going to be absolutely fantastic!
ME3 was a disappointment for me, as well, but to be fair-- ME1 had eavesdropping quests, too.
Yet one might think a company would improve on this instead of recreating it all the time. It wasn't that apparant in ME1 for me (maybe the boring Mako-sections distracted me), not even in ME2. But since DA2 and ME3 these lazy eavesdrop/fetch-quest-stuff gets a bit too much for my taste. Bioware, even in ME3, can make some awesome quests ... and then they shoehorn in this unnecessary stuff (and to be REALLY fair I even count the chantry-board from DAO to that as well...)
I just hope DAI only features "handcrafted" quests that really gets us involved, and not "you found the mumified finger of Karathos I., give it to the guy in Orlais you never heard of before"...
I am more afraid of that kind of stupidity than I am worried about hairstyles, console-UI or abilities...
That bombshell they dropped with the no auto attack is making me even more worried about this game. They just screwed pc players because I have to constantly change hand positions in combat because I can't continuously attack and select abilities with mouse. When I let go of mouse my character stops attacking.
I've posted this in other threads, but so far from what I've seen of the game, I will enjoy playing the game, and look forward for November 18th to get here.
Getting super hyped and getting your expectations sky high is never a good idea as I learned from DA2 and ME3 >.< I've definitely reigned in my expectations this time.
same here if you set the bar low enough you wont be dissopointed

you know you can buy an xbox controller for the pc right?

And hit the numbers on the keyboard? It's really not all that difficult.
Please, it's a BW game. There isn't one hyped bone in my body, I'm expecting a decent game at most.

Some people like myself have a pc for, well for the pc experience and not to use an Xbox controller (mind you, I do own one because I love me some fifa but that's all I use it to play). I don't think always tapping to attack will be a big deal for me though, Arkham was all tap tap tappity tap, and I played it just fine.
And hit the numbers on the keyboard? It's really not all that difficult.
Numbers? I assume you mean the 'R' key or whatever you rebind it to. The numbers are for abilities not auto-attack.
So based on what I've actually seen, rather than what my nerd gland has whipped my sensitivities into, I am not fearful at all.
I'm in that group that enjoyed DA2 despite it being inferior to DA:O in many (if not all) ways and also played ME3 with the Extended Cut DLC first and thought it was actually a damn good game overall - my favourite combat and skill tree progressions of any in the trilogy.
I wasn't scared, until the autoattack shenanigans.
You know, the 8 ability limit snuck in and kicked off the downward curve for me then the auto attack just swooped in and stuck a knife in between my ribs just to kick a man when he's down.
I can live with all the changes mind you but BW needs to be careful of the direction they're heading with their 'RPG' franchise lest it morph into something else. I don't play Civilization for the awesome real time action battles, I do it for the turn based play. Same for goes for DA, it is changing into hybrid of action and tactical gameplay that doesn't look like it will excel at either.
But I remain precariously hopeful, just please no more more bad surprises like the two I mentioned above.
HOLD UP, is this true what I am reading about there being no control over our attributes?!?
Just to clarify when we level up, do we allocate points into our desired attributes? Or is that control gone and the game increase our attributes in other ways?
Sorry if this is not the place to ask this, I just stumbled across this info.

We are not awarded attribute points to spend on level up.
Mike Laidlaw said our attributes grow as we level (which most have assumed to mean some auto level function although specifics are not clear), we also gain attribute points from gear we equip and craft and from a number of abilities that we take.

yup another bs move.
Also there is no customization of the skyhold "casual" clothes and the background music for that place is annoying...
I love classic, old style RPG and first Dragon Age was what i love. Dragon Age 2 was a big failure for me, story was nice but everything else was just below any expectations, mostly becouse of rushing the developement by EA. Now I know they are going towards action in cost of RPG, no attribute points to spend is just a small cut off from RPG elements. It was the same with Mass Effect but actually action over RPG with really good story was perfect for Mass Effect
From Dragon Age I expected something more ambitoius from game mechanic side but well.... I'm still going to play for the story but I'm just tired of cutting nice features off and pumping up dozen of average quality DLC's.
Just to be clear I am not saying It's not going to be a good fun game, DA2 after all was fun, even with same boring locations, and nearly none loot (why no armors?) It just does not meet my expectations and was a big down for me like DIablo III for example.
I would like the series to go more RPG way.
