Did you kill the Architect or let him live ?

Is it possible the Architect is now Cory? It might not fit facts, timeline, but considering he tried to do something to the Grey Wardens. The Architect wanted to replace Grey Wardens with darkspawn lackeys after all. You fight through and the Architect looks disappointed, what he tried to do didn't work. Then the mother was flipping out because the 'song' didn't work. The song/calling only has a bad impact on anyone blighted or tainted. Or has a red lyrium sandwich.

Grey Wardens and dwarves used like puppets.

Edit: I replayed Legacy and Cory obviously (or seemed to) walk out in Larius, so it made me think how do I know if the Architect really died. The Architect could have been alive in Larius (not Larius but a tainted warden). The Architect tried to do something that Cory is now making full use of.

Just to add I killed him.

He is dead.

My warden would never let a thing like that live.

Kill. I wouldn't ever trust a darkspawn. Especially not a talking one.

I killed him. You cannot compromise with a sickness. No matter how well-intentioned he and his thinking darkspawn might be, they still spread the Blight wherever they go.

But I think we will see him again. I dig the theory that he's actually one of the magisters that entered the black city and probably "switched" into the body of Velannas sister, when you kill him.

I bet he's not dead anyway, even if you "kill" him. He looks like Corypheus, a magister and darkspawn. Corypheus can transfer his soul into Grey Wardens when killed (I assume Darkspawn too) just like an Archdemon. Except Corypheus' soul is not destroyed when it meets the Grey Warden's soul, unlike an Archdemon.

Thus I assume the Architect's soul goes into (or maybe he possesses) a Darkspawn or Grey Warden when you kill him. Better to let the guy live, work with him and teach him and his darkspawn followers right from wrong. That's better than killing him and leaving him with a bad taste in his mouth thinking that the people of Thedas are jerks and should all be killed.

tl;dr

Let him live because it's interesting, kill him if you want to be boring.

I let him live.  Always let him live in any of my worldstates I create (unless I'm going uber-evil-kill-all-things)

Why?

2 reasons, mainly.  Yes, he is responsible for the Fifth Blight by performing a ritual on an Old God.  He did the ritual however in an (albeit failed) attempt to free his fellow Darkspawn from compulsion.  After that, he seems to have learned his lesson and is trying to convert the Darkspawn one at a time.  (he attempted to convert them in bulk again, with the Mother - but really, can you blame the guy for wanting to get the job done as fast as possible?)  And the ritual itself isn't lethal.  He kidnaps you and your party during Awakening, drains enough of your blood for the ritual, and you escape otherwise unharmed.  He has refined his methods so as to cause the least amount of destruction to the outside world.

Secondly; the Darkspawn he has released from compulsion have demonstrated they can either be good, or they can be bad. (like any other sentient race)  However, they are no longer under the compulsion of the Old Gods.  Even if some can not handle the "silence", as the Mother puts it, and go mad - they aren't going to seek out an Old God, create an Archdemon, and begin another Blight.  Sure, they might lash out and attack the other races in an attempt to commit suicide-by Grey Wardens (like the Mother did) to end their pain.  However, as characters like the Messenger proved, those Darkspawn who *don't* go mad, will likely help the Grey Wardens stand against the ones who do.

So at the end of the day, you're cutting the Darkspawn forces in about half, and adding that half to your own forces.  And you're taking the Archdemons out of the equation - since if they can't hear the Old Gods calls, it's going to be that much more difficult to find them.  Of course, this is only if the Architect succeeds in his plans.  Which is going to be a lot harder to do if you're going to try killing him, just because you're prejudiced against all Darkspawn.  ;)

mm it seems that he is the reason of why Fiona have removed the taint of her body.

The blood of the dragons ( she is the mother of Alistair) and the architect Amulet have cured her, so to remove the taint we need that amulet and  Dragon blood, i belive that this is the cure.

could explain why qunari have not been grey wardens. Maybe once the kossith found out about them being ogres they experimented with dragon blood making qunari so the future of there race live thru a blight and the qunari could have fled due to not understanding what the kossith where doing to them like a escaped clone. OR it can all be unrelated all together.

I let him live, flawed as he was. I mean he did make some big mistakes (oops, started a blight!) but he didn't mean to. He wanted the darkspawn to be an intelligent, freethinking race like humans or elves or qunari. His method was pretty.... bad, trying to taint everyone. But I  don't think he knew any better and was going for a drastic 'how can I give this to everyone' thing like the Solarians sprinkling the genophage onto the Krogans to stop their huge birthrate. They did it all at once, without discrimination- for a greater good. It wasn't the best idea, but hey, you tried. I think my Warden made it clear you can't just put taint in the water supply. I supported his end goal 'making darkspawn a new and freethinking race that can coexist peacefully with other races' but not the method.

I really love letting races exist and have a chance though. I saved the Rachni so they could repopulate as a peaceful race and saved the Geth  (and Quarians!) because those guys deserved a chance to be a happy peaceful race too. Yay everyone working together in harmony. I saw the Darkspawn who were intelligent and wanted to free their brethren a lot like the Geth though, which made me sympathize.

I mean I couldn't kill him, he's too RARE! A darkspawn that has free will? That's special, I can't destroy that. He might be the only hope of solving the Darkspawn problem, making them another race that will build cities and not have murderous urges. The only other long term solution is extermination of all darkspawn, but it's cooler to let them be free.

tll;dr  I didn't agree with his methods, but his goal of making the darkspawn intelligent and sentient is a noble one. After he hopefully realized that was a bad method, he's going to work on stopping the darkspawn from blindly attacking everyone which, as a Warden, I considered a win for humanity.

Let him live, hoped he would cause division in the Darkspawn.

Even if you killed him, I'm sure he'll be back.

Yep I saw it similarly. Darkspawn deserve a shot, it's not their fault they are being manipulated by archdemons and cannot resist the songs. Maybe when awakened they can build cities in the Deep Roads and live there happily doing darkspawny stuff. Also I find Architects goals good so I don't understand why some people see him villain, he's much more antihero material in my viewpoint.

My first runthrough, I killed him off because I thought "Alright, as a Warden, we just want to get rid of darkspawn, once and for all"

Second runthrough, I figured anyone who trusted Morrigan enough to raise an OGB with her probably would be open to letting the Architect do this thing, so I let him live.

Then I read The Calling, and I'm kind of glad I killed him off the first time. I don't want to spoil it extremely, but I considered the cost of his 'solution' to be too high.

Dude is pretty much confirmed to be one of the seven magisters. The guy probably switches bodies when you kill him anyway. He's actually been your Warden ever since the ending of Awakening and is now out in the world trying to find new ways to end the call of the Old Gods

I killed him. He's an ancient Magister and responsible for heinous crimes, even if he doesn't remember. He was the 'Architect' he put the ritual together. Corypheus was the 'conductor.' They're monsters, all of them.

The guy probably switches bodies when you kill him anyway.

He does. Why do you think Velanna's (tainted) sister immediately vanishes and is never seen again?

The issue with the Architect is the one we had with Corypheus and that is can the Architect body jump due to this relationship with his Taint ? Does he ever actually die ?
