And why did you choose the name?
Intrigued as to what everyone else is choosing, still trying to decide mine.

Atisha Lavellan for my canon Inquisitor, it means 'Peace' in Elvish and I picked it because it suits her personality. She's a bit of an eccentric hippie...
Vashoth naming is kinda weird, so I still have no clue what my Qunari is gonna be.
Unfortunately, I have no idea at this time... ![]()

I will use my real life first name.
I think a couple of names that We Stand Midnight Clad mentioned are from Warhammer...
Fitting, I think!
I was gonna find a cool awesome epic name . One that I probably won't remember once in game , due to the CC being so mindblowing .
But in the end , I found one I never forget !!
My 1st Playtrough gonna be a Female Qunari Amazon Princess Mage . And apparently the default name is : Adaar . So my Inquisitor lady gonna be called : Horny Adaar .
Why ? because the wait have been long............ ![]()
i used to come up with names, but i'm not very good at it. so i just started going through all of Tolkien's works and picking the names i really liked from there (based on the personality i was hoping to foster in my character and the personality of Tolkien's character)... i'm never going to play enough times to run out of names that way
i'm still working out names for my qunari, though. i need to get on that.
My first female character will be named Fizz, and my first male character will be named Who.
probably the default name on first few runs
Funny (ymmv) story! My bf and I were actually talking about this a while ago and after some time I decided to name my Qunquisitor Hasan, which happens to be his name. It's turkish and I like the feel of it for a qunari. The amusing thing is that once I decided this, he decided to name his character after me. So there will be at least one elven warrior inquisitor named Steve running around Thedas. Really fits the setting, no? ![]()
I want to give my male human mage an aristocratic name. But he's also going to be quite politically savvy and machiavellian, so I'm having difficulties.
I was thinking of Tristan, Lucius, or Lucas. Although, "Tristan Trevalyan"? Not good.
Actually, "Leto" would be a great name. Conjures images of Duke Leto Atreides, who was pretty much exactly what I want from my character. I think I'm going to go with that.

You could name them after someone of the Medici family.
Leto is a nice name. It´s also the name of the assassin in Witcher II.
I don't know who exactly my Inquisitors will be and how they'll be called, it really ruins the character for me if I have them planned out for too long. I have a few vague concepts and a list of names to choose from though, I hope there's something in there for all of my inquisitors - at least the first few.
Some possible names:
Human female: Ambreanne, Andrastine, Capucine, Élodie, Léontine, Mirèio - I'm going French this time eventhough we're not from Orlais itself.
Some other non-French ideas would be Honora, Justine, Deidre or Catriona for example.
Dwarf female: Agni, Gwindi, Igni(s) or Enni. I like names ending with an "i" for dwarves, they sound really cute, but fitting. I might also look up a few paragons and derive a name from them, Caridine / Caridina for example.
Dwarf male: not many ideas so far, my best ones are Knud, Stjarn(ulf) and Baruch I guess.
Qunari female: Calhoun (Wreck-It-Ralph anyone?
), Teresh, Dara or Yaara are a few names that I might use, but if I want to stay closer to the lore and the Qunlat stuff that we already know I might use Hehra (default name), Kassana, Asaaranda or Issala. I also like the Name "Nur" which means "light" in arabic but is also the same as the german word "nur" that means "only" or "simply". She would sound like "Simply Adaar" to me and that sounds rather fitting since everyone will call her Adaar at best. ![]()
Qunari Male: I don't have much names that I made up myself here, only Irn-aarat, Qulan and Ashdehtaan. "Ash" means "to seek", "Dehtaan" sounds cool and can be whatever I want. From Qunlat I like Ataash, Ashataash, Beres-taar, Kaaras (default Name), Sataareth, Taashath, Talan or Saaraban. Saaraban and Ashataash are Combos I found on the Internet btw., I haven't really thought of good combinations myself yet. ^^'
Elf female: I have a giant list of irish and a few welsh names right here with my own ideas mixed in. I think some of my favourites are Aerona, Devnet, Faraday, Fhionn, Anu, Ide, Muirin, Nainsi and Quincy. Yes, Quincy doesn't fit in very well and is probably a terrible name for an elf, but to me it's just the most badass Name ever (kind of an in-joke between me and my brother
). Thinking about it, I could use it for any species, not necessarily just elf. ![]()
Feel free to "steal" whatever names you like. ![]()
Latte Feuer Dienr
Caius/Lukas Trevelyan. Because I always use either names, I feel if I had a different name; either of them would be mine ![]()
I'm also planning to try a female dwarf, I think I'll be naming her Xendaia or something, haven't decided yet but usually when I make a female character I call her Xendaia.
not a clue..either will go with a name i've used for an elf in the past, or visit a fantasy name generator lol
My human mage will prob be named Yeneffer, that's it Yeneffer Trevelyan, after Yeneffer of Vengeberg, sorceress from the witcher books (now she's in the games, I believe). I always liked the character portrayed in the novels.
Probably Rhiannon or Michieri for my first elven mage.
My first male warrior will be "Gawain", from Authurian legend which means "White Hawk of Battle", something I named one of my favorite Hawke's without knowing what it meant. Both him and the King Cousland I made with that name were badasses. Or alternately "Roland" which is my favorite boy name and prior to the game the name I always call my male heroes. It means "famed throughout the land". He was one of Charlemagne's paladins.
Haven't thought past those initial playthroughs. Alternately if I like the 'default' name for some characters I go with that. My 'canon' warden is Neria Surana as is one of my favorite wardens Daylen Amell. Or I can't think of a good alternate name (both my Brosca and Aeducan used 'default' names).
Or I pick 'tongue in cheek' names like "Kit(ty) Hawke" for my 'canon' sarcastic rogue Hawke.
My Mounts will all be "Muffin" because that was my favorite Mabari in Origins and what I named my Mabari in DA2.
You could name them after someone of the Medici family.
Leto is a nice name. It´s also the name of the assassin in Witcher II.
The Medicis are perfect thematically, but I think their names are too conspicuously Italian. It'd have to be Lorenzo if I went that route, after Lorenzo the Magnificent.
I think I'm going to stick with Leto for my mage, though. I'm pretty happy with it.
Also, in the future, when I make a qunari mage, I will name him or her "Arisaar".
