Will the bonus digital content be announced before the game's release?

Edit:  Trojan, I - and other posters apparently - thought you were talking about an equivalent measure to EMS' impact in ME3.  That definitely doesn't look to be the case.  If you're making reference to something like combat as Paul E mentions in the post below, then I misunderstood your position. B)

Yes, I was referring to the combat like Paul E mentioned.

People were whining over that in DA2,ME3...and so on

Now that we don't have story D1 DLC people whine because they are not story DLC...

BSN forumites logic baffles me

They've been taking lessons from the Turian councillor.

I think they're going about it the right way.
The only thing worth while is the soundtrack.

I don't expect the inquisition armour set to last long before finding something better.
expect nothing good from the MP chest to avoid disappointment.
Nothing essential is being included so pay for the base game and don't really miss out on anything. I'll upgrade to the deluxe edition anyway for the soundtrack.

For me its not so much that it's an MP chest. Its that they kept us in the dark about it for months even after they announced MP. Dragging out the suspense just for a chest of items is kind of a let down.

That said, I'm still happy I got the Deluxe overall.

Well as you said since it was tied to multiplayer, that was part of the long delay. Even with this being the case, isn't it just reasonable to believe all the items that were already announced were likely the most interesting and compelling reasons to purchase the deluxe? It wouldn't be a very wise marketing strategy to advertise items that really didn't add incentive early on. Honestly I believe people let themselves down expecting something spectacular when BioWare never gave any indication or made any assertion of what the item would be.

I believe Mike Laidlaw said the armor includes a template, so you can upgrade it throughout the game.

In any case, I agree that the soundtrack alone is enough to justify the upgrade. What I've heard so far sounds gorgeous.

Meh...  I like many others had a suspicion that the last dlc would be multiplayer related.  I am more disappointed that it is apparently just going to be a random loot case than it being MP in nature.  It would of been nice if it was unique looks/outfits for the multiplayer characters or something a bit more special.

I'm not a fan of sound tracks really, as I can't see myself wanting to listen to the music any time aside from when I'm actually playing the game.  Though the armor looks nice, and the fact that you can make new versions of it as you progress through the game enhances it's value well beyond most of the generic armor packs games like these usually offer.

I'm not sure if it is worth 10 bucks or not, but I have a feeling I'd regret not getting the deluxe if I was to change my pre-order now.  So regardless I shall pick up my Deluxe Edition.

I hope it is a DLC campaign and not stuff like a red boots DLC.

Wait, do I get this right, people actually want something like the From Ashes DLC, where a part of the game is cut to give deluxe pre-orders something? Even if it fucks over people who don't? From Ashes was one of the worst day 1 DLC concepts in history. I'd much, much rather they give away feelies, soundtracks and MP stuff than cut away part of the story to make pre-orders feel bigger. And yes, I did pre-order the deluxe edition, and I'm totally fine with the chest. The existing items sold it to me before anyway, it's just a small bonus.

Have to agree with this. I'm not a huge fan of preorders anyway for this very reason. I'm supportive of fluff stuff but actual plot content in a game like this? Hoenstly, I'd feel pretty dirty.

I find it funny people are complaining about paying extra for something that was "cut from the game" yet celebrate paying 10$ + to get something you'd get from playing MP, anyway.

Most people unhappy with the chest, me included, aren't so because they wanted a story mission/companion.

Also, if you've got what you wanted, stop policing others on how they feel. We've no obligation to think as you do, and vice versa.

This multiplayer chest better be full of good stuff, because the Digital Deluxe Edition is hardly interesting right now.

Pardon my internet, but LOLWAT???

The disappointment most people expressed in this thread isn't because MP got goodies, it's because SP didn't get more goodies than they already do. Just to remind everyone, those SP goodies ... are not for MP. So what exactly qualifies the MP goodies to be such a bother or selfish thing only because a couple people make the conscious and entirely voluntary decision to not play the MP?

There's nothing selfish about any of the goodies. It's extra stuff you pay extra for. Whether you feel that is worth your money is your own economic dilemma but the existance of MP only goodies in no way diminishes the worth for the SP or vice versa. In fact, if any SP-only player would look past his SP bias and objectively assess the situation, it is only FAIR that the MP, being part of the game whether you play it or not, gets the same extra attention in bonus content as the SP does.

I agree with you my post was response to someone claiming that people who wanted more sp content and not mp content were selfish.

I wasn't aware you got the 3 mounts, weapons, throne, armor and soundtrack from playing the game. How is something that previously wasn't part of the equation before suddenly a dealbreaker for being too expensive? This makes no sense to me.

1) Not the point of this discussion. The chest, part of the extra content some will/have paid, isn't an exclusive bonus.

Again, it's random loot you'll naturally get by playing MP.

For those that won't play MP it is useless.

For some of those that will, like I plan to, is nothing interesting.

2) You quote me, so where did I said anything about it being a dealbreaker? Nowhere. Stop putting words in my mouth.

This bonus content is disappointing, lazy and cheap from Bioware. That's my opinion.

Btw, and related with the chest thingy..., do you know if there's going to be a chest/depot in single player?, coz it's was badly needed in DA:O and if now we can craft things...

(if not, a chest in single player would be a good addition :D ).

Edit: ok I think got the answer in the FAQ

You seem to know more about the MP bonus content than most. Can you please refer to where the content is listed? The only thing I've found so far says little more than "deluxe edition multiplayer chest" and not a word as to what nature the content inside that chest will be (random, early specific unlocks, exclusive stuff).

I shouldn't do homework for you, but since I know you ask as a way to say shut your mouth, you know nothing Jon Snow:

From the official MP FAQ*:

What kind of loot can I get in a dungeon?

You will find gold coins and items (not potions), and at the end of a mission, you can use gold coins to buy chests. They will contain a variety of different items (weapons, weapon mods, potions, runes, armor, etc.). We are developing Dragon Age multiplayer with quick engagement in mind. We want it to be easy to play a round, acquire new loot, and jump back into the action. Now that you have new cool weapons and armor, why wouldn't you try another mission?

*you can google that btw

I agree, from what I see it really doesn't seem like it's worth the extra $.

Skyhold Throne: Nice if you're into sitting inside a giant lizard skull, but otherwise...

Mounts: A lot of these in the game already, and all they're really used for is getting to a point that you've already explored quickly.

Soundtrack: This one actually has a bit of perceived value, but it doesn't justify the total expense imo.

Armor & Weapons: The games crafting system makes these a lot less vital than they might be otherwise. It's not like Mass Effect 3 where the DLC weapons and armor had unique stats and functions that you couldn't find anywhere else, here one sword can be made to swing just as well as another. You'd basically be paying for the design of the weapons and armor more than anything else.

MP Chest: As has been said there probably isn't anything that you can't get here with some good old grinding.

And I ask again, where do you know what's in THAT chest from?

I certainly wouldn't have to explain how thematic naming of whatever container medium the MP uses does not imply that the content is the same, or do I?

But if you like going on the premise that I just wanted to say STFU, fine, I can do that:

You know NOTHING about what's in that chest. All you know is that's it's called chest. And you surmised that since this is called chest just like those other chests in MP, that the content has to be equal.

You have absolutely NO substantiated basis for your "it's completely random stuff" argument. Could it be completely random? Yes. Could it be something that's not random? Yes. Could it actually be an exclusive unlock that you can't unlock via regular play of the MP? Yes. Those are the informations that exist right now.
