here is something I been wondering about.

Sebastian is a brother of the faith however I thought that women were the only gender that could join the priesthood of the Chantry. Or are there fraternal orders of monks for men? just curious about this.

Men can join as "brothers", but they cannot hold any real positions of authority within the priesthood.

Because their front had completely collapsed.
Their gamble in the free marches failed, the island their dreadnoughts launched from was captured. All the progress they had made into inland thedas was pushed back into Rivain.
One fortress was left to them at the time of the armistice.
The Qunari stopped fighting because they were losing.

Is this true? Doesn't the codex mention that it wasn't the damage to their armada or the loss of their troops that caused their retreat but rather the deaths of the Rivaini population?

On a separate note I'm not a big fan of the Chantry but I would like to see more of the Chant in Inquisition. Maybe one day if there is enough fragments we could put it together as a book.

Oh I beg to differ since you speak as if the human nations of Thedas didn't suffer from the war at one bit, the three Exalted Marches also drained the resources of every nation in Thedas, leaving most on the brink of collapse. While the three exalted marches itself is nothing but a massacred of the Rivaini convert.

The forces in question that the codex speaks were those specifically occupying Kont-Aar. They had already been repulsed from the rest of Thedas.

Even after the treaty was signed, the Qunari would later try to stage multiple invasions of Tevinter, and the Imperium b****slapped them off the mainland every time.

Ah that's right, thanks. Are those real invasions though? I was under the impression Tevinter and the Qunari just have skirmishes. Enough to make it look like their doing something but not enough to actually get anything done.

Beside a constant skirmish on Seheron I don't think there are any real invasions, and the Qunari may try to invade the mainland of the Tevinter Imperium from time to time but the Tevinter manage to push them back every time. However I got the impression that the Qunari are winning on Seheron if that's count for anything.

WoT: "[...] Several attempts by the Qunari to land on the continent and directly attack Tevinter fail".

Since the reveal that the Seekers know a way to use Templar powers without the risk of addiction, I'm still surprised nobody mentioned this yet

Could we get more details? Templars not having to consume a substance that causes paranoia, obsession and dementia would be an incredible step forward for the Chantry.

Really, it's a miracle that it took a as long as it did for the Templars to go rogue.

I laugh at the notion of calling anything related to chantry "holy".

It's confirmed as an option, nanananana.

The green hand counts as magic, I believe. Psh.

Cassandra's own class spec says that as a Seeker, she has full use of templar powers without the lyrium addiction. A Bioware Employee in the templar thread confirmed that Seekers do something different than Templars to gain the same powers, and if we want more details, we'll have to ask Cassandra in-game.

It doesn't count as more magic than putting lyrium in a weapon does in which case, it's an example of normal people harnessing natural resources to serve their ends much like we do on this world ergo, mages aren't needed.

Except to close the veil where it is torn by violence unless you find a helpful Fade Spirit, serve as healers, repel Qunari invasions as a counter to their cannons, make Grey Wardens in preparing the Joining....

A lot of people seem to forget that the Mages play their part in many important events of Thedas. Frankly without mages contribution victory is a lot harder to achieve.

If it's even possible in many cases.

Heck, the world would have been destroyed in the First Blight were it not for mages contributing in creating the Joining Ritual. And I'm sure there were a lot of trials and errors there, and blood magic most certainly was a part of it.

Very true, and if I may add during the First Blight the Tevinter Imperium nearly fall while the Dwarven Empire collapse, the situation are that dire so you'll need every help you can get. Also during the Three Exalted Marches against the Qunari were it not for mages contribution even an armies of united human nations would fall since the Qunari not only having superior force, powerful armada but their own mages as well. If a single spell could win a battle and turn the tide of war, I would not discard mages so easily.

That is probably the one example [along with the other blights] which should never be used. There wouldn't be blights if it weren't for mages.

So the Chantry claims and the dwarves dispute. And Corypheus' memory is full of holes, so he shows that mages did indeed go to the Black City, but that does not equate being the first darkspawn.

The dwarf empire and Tevinter Imperium were both targets of the First Blight.

One had mages. One did not.

One fell.

Given that his head is full of metal bits, a little dementia is understandable.
