Have any of you ever watched one of your squadmates "die" a death that some would call theatrical?

Like maybe, you ordered one squadmate somewhere else so that the other one would be left hanging out to dry?

Well, as for me...

James Vega, Noveria: He was surrounded by Assault Troopers and Centurions. He fought bravely, but was hopelessly outnumbered and outgunned, and he fell to a hail of bullets bigger than his own.

Liara T'Soni, Thessia: She got cornered by a Banshee, who then lifted her up against her will, and with a single hard thrust, penetrated her! The penetration was very bloody and painful, and when the Banshee was through, she simply cast Liara aside like a piece of trash.

Ashley Williams, AY Monastery: She bravely held off a pair of Banshees, wisely keeping her distance away from them and fending them off with her assault rifle. They retaliated by throwing Warp after Warp at her, and alas, it eventually overcame her and she fell.

Garrus Vakarian, Citadel: He and a Phantom went on a little one-on-one together, and despite his reputation among members of the fairer sex, Fate decided the joke was on him, and the Phantom penetrated him with her sword.

He fell on his back and bled to death there on the now, war-torn Citadel floor.

Anyone have similar stories?

Wrex's melee did not prove too effective against an Atlas. I thought for sure he would come through.

On Tuchanka, while attempting to rescue Lt. Victus' platoon, Garrus took his sniper rifle and with a barbaric YAWP charged into the middle of a group of marauders and cannibals. I have no doubt he intended to heroically distract the enemy while we found cover, but he should have equipped his AR first, at least. The two seconds it took him to die didn't give us much time to find cover either. Shep compounded the shenanigans by leaving cover to revive Garrus and got blown to hell by a judiciously tossed grenade as well.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who's mind immediately went there due to OP's hilarious wording.

At first I thought it had to be deliberate...but then I realized it wasn't.

@Kabooom: Au Contraire, the wording of the WHOLE part concerning Liara was VERY deliberate. Including the "bloody and painful" and the "like a piece of trash when through" parts.

Seeing that DeathScepter liked your post, I half expected him to post a picture of Lavernius Tucker, and his key phrase; Bow chicka bow wow.

I once killed my squadmates via an ill- placed shot from Cain at the final stage of Hades Cannon section. Or a well-placed shot... :P

It is possible to just run past the Atlas. Maybe that's what you did. If you do run past the Atlas, Cortez (IIRC) will taunt you for not fighting it.

That's awesome. The guy who prefers the Hammerhead to the Mako taunts you for not staying and fighting. One shot from an Atlas while in the Hammerhead and he'd be toast. James should've been able to say that back to him.

That's not true. Have you never fought the YMIR mech on Aite in the Hammerhead? All it requires is dodging. Or the Geth Primes/Colossuses in Firewalker? When James says the Mako is built like a tank and Cortez says "I should hope so. No maneuverability" he's right. The Mako better be able to take a hit because it ain't going to be able to dodge them.

Yeah... I know, I know. James still passed up a golden opportunity to give a little back, though. In the Mako's defense, it does have some dodging capability though; with its "stupid vertically-aligned mass effect field generators" it can leap over thresher maw acid projectiles in a single bound  :D

That's one of the beauties of a rotatable turret, you can move forward and shoot sideways.

Anyway, enough off-topic B.S., people.

Have you witnessed a squadmate of yours die a theatrical death, like maybe a sync-kill?

Not ME3's, but....I do remember Garrus getting downed in Korlus, then falling towards the planet's surface. Veeery dramatic....

...until he magically reappeared at my side when all enemies went down :P

I feel like Grunt is always a serious contender. In ME2 if the baby Krogan is close enough he'll charge straight in to kill all the guys. With Fortification, the Krogan health upgrades, and the Berserker passive he can last for a surprisingly long time. With enough dudes to kill, it's pretty epic to watch him melee a few of them before going down.

The real magic happens when you bring him to the Derelict Reaper.

Holy serious oversight, Batman. As much as I love Grunt, I have never done this. :o  Oh that's gonna change on this playthrough.

I thought it was pretty funny one time when Liara got slapped by a Brute on Despoina. I tried to manually rez her, but her body was slowly gliding along the shipwreck and went over the edge into the deep blue abyss. I said farewell, and went on to kill the Brute. A bit later Liara suddenly reappeared like nothing had happened

Its always a pain trying to revive squad mates in MP when they are rolling down a ramp. :)

And people complain about Kai Leng's plot armor.

I saw T'soni get the sh*t beat out her by a husk. My first thought was, "down goes T'soni, down goes T'soni". That's bad when a squadmate gets killed by a little ole husk. How pathetic. I also seen her get clothes lined by a brute becuase she wouldn't stay in cover.

Miranda: Any time where she's in combat: Noticing a rather severe lack of armor, someone throws a kitchen knife at Miranda, killing her.

Jack: See above

Traynor: Frayed wiring in her special toothbrush causes a malfunction, producing a mass effect field that, generating mass fluctuations, rips her brain apart, killing her.

Garrus:  Loyal to a fault, willing to do anything to kill Sidonis, and totally trusting of Commander Shepard, Garrus charged headfirst into the kids of two YMIR mechs with nothing but his trusty sniper rifle.  He was dead within 10 seconds...

Little did he know I had had assigned him the overload power and meant to target the mech.  Unfortunately, I accidentally clicked the ground next to the YMIR instead and Garrus charged.

Can I borrow your copy of the game to see that happen?
