Am I the only one wondering why there is so much lush green vegetation, and even deciduous broadleaf trees, in an area so clearly well above the alpine tree line? Probably. :P

I'm sure the answer is :wizard:

I have to respond sorry. You are wrong, the human brain can perceive frames rates of more than 30FPS. A steady video of 60 FPS is noticably smoother than that of a steady 30FPS, i would argue it is a lot more difficult see any improvement above 60FPS though simply because it is already very smooth at 60. But at 30 you can certainly tell the difference. The point you make about "lag" being noticable when it drops below 30 is correct however and change in frame rate will make you see stutter, than includes going down from say 60 to 50 frames and also a change from say 30 to 40, your brain will notice it has changed and you will see some kind of stutter.

you telling too different arguments.

the human eye does not see in fps, it doesn't matter if it's 10fps or 1000fps. the human eye see's them all as still images.

what your trying to talk about is about is how your brain processes the information.

yes switching between frame rates produce's a noticeably stuttering effect this is because the illusion of a fluid image is broken. but if the frame rate is maintained, so long as the images are moving fast enough for the brain to trick itself and will adjust to fill in the blanks.

the fact is IF you are sitting there playing at 30FPS and aren't getting a drop in frames the gameplay will appear smoother then if you play a game at 60FPS and are getting a drop of just 10FPS. what matters is the frame rate is a solid frame rate and resolution.

anyone who sits down plays a game at 30FPS takes a break and comes back and plays the same game the same level at 60FPS per second will not tell the difference unless the frame rates are dropping.

the issue is 30 FPS is very near the limit of tricking the human brain which means, Any drop in frame rate is far more noticeable compared to 60FPS.

in any case any lag or stuttering even blur is not caused by the frame rate, it is caused by frame rates shifting. 60FPS is more forgiving, then 30FPS when it comes to frame rate drops.  This is one of the reasons movies even without motion blur will always be smoother then video games shot at the same frame rate, because they NEVER drop in frame rate.

it is all down to what is maintained, a notable example of this is crysis 3 where on 30FPS is relatively easy to maintain where as some rigs struggle to keep a solid 60FPS and often drop right down to 40FPS making the game unplayable. compared to running at 30FPS and many gamers saying "what the ****"

it all comes down to maintaining a solid frame rate, if 30FPS can for the most part be maintained then there is no noticeable difference, suggesting someone compare 30fps to 60fps side by side is useless because your defeating the purpose of frames per second in the first place which is to trick your brain into thinking your looking at a fluid image.

not the best stream but still good. nice tidbits about companions, advisers, crafting, skyhold.

the bard in the tavern was amazing, so if that song is not a part of the soundtrack, first thing i'm doing when i acquire skyhold, is do what ever i need to to get the tavern and record the bard singing and bam! i got my new ringtone! (at least until Malukah does a cover on YT)

and the little scene between Leli and Josie was adorable. big sis Leliana is worried about her little sis Josephine. precious.

oh and Cullen was totally checking out Dorian's pecks. ^_^

oh. oh. and i just got a keep invite yay :D

And the great hall seemed very empty, especially the throne area BUT construction was clearly taking place there so maybe that's why.

Also Skyhold is huge and I am going to get so very, very lost.

It eventually looks more full and grand:

I assume that you will put an arrow in the next person who says that at a hundred paces? :P

If I have a bow with me, sure! ;)

I actually did archery for a while in my teens, and while I do like dressing up in fancy gowns, I'm not a very feminine person.

Which of cause makes the comments that more jarring...

We've never been able to change the ambient music in any scene in the other DA games, why are you surprised we won't be able to change it in this one? If we'd been able to do so previously the complaint would make sense.

Perhaps they were thinking of Shep's quarters on Normandy?

Man this place is depressing sometimes <_<

I came to this thread all excited and all I saw was:

People bitching about the feminine walk

People bitching about casual clothes

People bitching about music

:(

Because I'm not sure the drums are the ambient music for SkyHold. I was more surprised that the drums may indeed be the ambient music for SkyHold.

If they said you could not change it, then that obviously means the drums are the ambient music choice.

I'm disappointed that our companions still simply stand around. Cassandra is hanging around training dummies and... what? Admiring them? Sure, we had to suffer beneath Garrus's endless optimization, but at least we could say he was doing something.

This is most likely at the end of the game. Today's Twitch was played with a save about half-way through.

half way, but it could just be regarding the main story.I reckon you might get stuff like in the picture at that point if you do all the quests you can do

I remember we've been told that the cinematic camera will be there for important dialogue. Am I the only one that considers talking with our companions important? Kinda sucks we can't see their faces and mimicry properly when talking with them in the Skyhold.

As I understand it, being able to deal with many of the minor conversations without cinematics allowed many more conversations / minor plots to be included.

e.g. 'Templar bastards killed my husband and stole the ring from his finger...'

The choice is between having the minor conversations that way, or not having them.

Please let the casual clothing be a placeholder...? Either that or every time the Inquisitor calls a meeting in the war room it will look like she forgot to get dressed.

Yup, I'm totally cool with that! Jammie days!

The drum beat didn't bother me that much. It's just background noise to me *shrugs* If they change it cool and if not I doubt I would notice anyways.

As for the Inquisitor outfit looking like pajamas, well who amongst us hasn't gone to a class or out to the store in PJs? If nothing else they look comfortable.

Glad I got to caught the stream live, but will more than likely watch it again on YouTube. Being something of a newbie to Twitch I was unaware you could hide the chat stream. Some of those folks sure are stoked for Witcher 3 (which had no bearing on the stream at all and confused my old brain).

Oh I hope I can get a mage robe for my FemInqs that looks like the one Dorian was wearing playing chess, that shoulder exposed with a bicep high glove on the exposed arm. That would be just the right amount of sexy for my Fem characters.....

Okay, positivity:

The game looks incredible, visually.

That bard in the tavern is fantastic.

Dorian!

I loved how big and epic Skyhold is, I loved the attention they paid to its layout and giving every area a purpose, and I love that it's full of random areas like a kitchen and herb garden that we can explore.

I am getting tired of hearing people hating on the female run/walk style.
It's neither extreme nor unnatural. I have a somewhat similar body type to the (human) femquisitor, and yes, that's pretty much how my natural walk and jog (and that's what she's during, not really running) looks!
It's a result of broad hips and a very curved "feminine" spine, which is something the (human) femquisitor model has.

I have broad hips and walk like that too. I'm more bugged by the bowlegged way the PC walks in cutscenes not matching the walk she has outside of them. Especially when she's next to a woman who is walking in the effeminate way. I think it looks more exaggerated on the female elf model than the human because she's so narrow.

This is true. Most of the whining is about small gripes that will only be a deal breaker to the truly pathetic who never got over the "WANT!" phase in childhood.

i think that skyhold customization has a lot more to do with side quests and operations than main quests. when they took a look at decor, beds and heraldry very few things were unlocked, mostly banners.

I know right....Yeah I usely just turn down the music options in set up if not off completely, I am not watching a movie when playing a game so I don't need that disraction or to be trying to strain to hear sound effects or voices over dramatic music... <_<

Ah, but the tavern bard music was Perfection.

I really, really want to hear it without the echo, though!

It reminded me of a vocal recording being edited by someone with no idea what they were doing, which kinda ruined it for me.

From what I could hear, it's going to sound gorgeous.

sooooo.......I hope there will be a "sleeveless" mage outfit similar to Dorian's that the Inquisitor can wear.  I like the style!
