Drums aside, I absolutely love everything about SkyHold. I'm gonna be spending insane amounts of time there. Just running around talking to ErrBody! lol! Doing various customization Stuffs! Hanging out in the tavern listening to the Bard there.

Amazing work.

I really, really want to hear it without the echo, though!

It reminded me of a vocal recording being edited by someone with no idea what they were doing, which kinda ruined it for me.

From what I could hear, it's going to sound gorgeous.

yeah, it is gonna be gorgeous. and they said the Bard has several songs!

The drum beat didn't bother me that much. It's just background noise to me *shrugs* If they change it cool and if not I doubt I would notice anyways.

As for the Inquisitor outfit looking like pajamas, well who amongst us hasn't gone to a class or out to the store in PJs? If nothing else they look comfortable.

Glad I got to caught the stream live, but will more than likely watch it again on YouTube. Being something of a newbie to Twitch I was unaware you could hide the chat stream. Some of those folks sure are stoked for Witcher 3 (which had no bearing on the stream at all and confused my old brain).

This, I love my pyjamas, if I didn't have to actually wear proper clothes for going outside I never would...

Man this place is depressing sometimes <_<

I prefer the pointing out potential issues to mindless squealing honestly, the talk hasn't devolved to bashing so I'm good. Though I have to say I didn't notice the drums, maybe initially but it quickly faded out for me. And I didn't notice the walk either but I wasn't really looking.

Sold on Skyhold. Jesus, it looks impressive and the scale of what seems to be afforded to us to customize seems grand.

If anything that little snippet of convo with Viv, who strikes me as incredibly logical and pragmatic, convinces me she and at least 3/4 of my PC's will be getting along wonderfully.

i think that skyhold customization has a lot more to do with side quests and operations than main quests. when they took a look at decor, beds and heraldry very few things were unlocked, mostly banners.

Yeah I am pretty sure you can unlock most of it and have it customized early in game before the end....You just have to put the in time and effort to do it.

Yeah the casual attire for the inquisitor seemed rather... odd. That isn't a big deal for me however. I didn't notice the drums after like five minutes and I still haven't noticed the male animations for the female inquisitor in cut scenes. If I'm not noticing that without trying to look for it then I'm good. I was impressed by how large the Skyhold was and they didn't even show everything. I can imagine spending hours in between missions just running around the Skyhold and talking to people.

I think I prefer Mike to lead, Cameron seems to enjoy getting destroyed by enemies, lol. This Twitch was a mix of really awesome info and disorganized uninformative stuff.

Pros:

We actually saw crafting beginning to end for the first time, despite the fact they weren't really trying that little 2 min crafting gave quite a bit of info and I can't wait for the screen caps.

Skyhold Customization was very informative.

Got to see more of Josie!!!!!!!!! !!!!...!!!!  ... ...!

Cons:

Twitch seemed very confused, Cameron kept asking what should we do next. I don't think they planned out this twitch as much as they did previous entries.

Spoilers (beyond what they expected, that pop up was a big oops)

Very little Combat (stop dieing Cam :P)

All-in-all I enjoyed it and I hope for another next Monday :)

That popup spoiler has been kind of common knowledge for more then a year.

Those drums were annoying. That's the kind of stuff you put on an war camp. I must say I'm surprised Vivienne shaves her head. For someone that cares so much about looks, you would expect her to have some fancy hairstyle.

Interesting scene with Josephine. I would actually side with her in that scene, but not because of some noble idealism. I don't think I should waste the life of agents in an personal matter of one of my helpers. Either I bust in that vault myself, or no one goes at all.

It will take longer and you may have another assassin attack before Josephine succeeds, plus the cost in political resources may be far more then agents breaking in.

you telling too different arguments.

the human eye does not see in fps, it doesn't matter if it's 10fps or 1000fps. the human eye see's them all as still images.

what your trying to talk about is about is how your brain processes the information.

yes switching between frame rates produce's a noticeably stuttering effect this is because the illusion of a fluid image is broken. but if the frame rate is maintained, so long as the images are moving fast enough for the brain to trick itself and will adjust to fill in the blanks.

the fact is IF you are sitting there playing at 30FPS and aren't getting a drop in frames the gameplay will appear smoother then if you play a game at 60FPS and are getting a drop of just 10FPS. what matters is the frame rate is a solid frame rate and resolution.

anyone who sits down plays a game at 30FPS takes a break and comes back and plays the same game the same level at 60FPS per second will not tell the difference unless the frame rates are dropping.

the issue is 30 FPS is very near the limit of tricking the human brain which means, Any drop in frame rate is far more noticeable compared to 60FPS.

in any case any lag or stuttering even blur is not caused by the frame rate, it is caused by frame rates shifting. 60FPS is more forgiving, then 30FPS when it comes to frame rate drops.  This is one of the reasons movies even without motion blur will always be smoother then video games shot at the same frame rate, because they NEVER drop in frame rate.

it is all down to what is maintained, a notable example of this is crysis 3 where on 30FPS is relatively easy to maintain where as some rigs struggle to keep a solid 60FPS and often drop right down to 40FPS making the game unplayable. compared to running at 30FPS and many gamers saying "what the ****"

it all comes down to maintaining a solid frame rate, if 30FPS can for the most part be maintained then there is no noticeable difference, suggesting someone compare 30fps to 60fps side by side is useless because your defeating the purpose of frames per second in the first place which is to trick your brain into thinking your looking at a fluid image.

It's been a long time since I saw so many misconceptions in one post. You say that it's impossible to see more than 30 fps, yet you claim that that an fps dip from 60 to 50 would produce more stuttering than running at a locked 30?

Yes, some people prefer to lock their fps to 30 instead of having it hover at something like 30 to 40 in order to keep the fps stable rather than having it fluctuate. That doesn't change the fact that higher framerates undeniably produce noticably smoother gameplay, especially with such a drastic jump as 30 to 60 fps.

I've been using a 144hz monitor for the past couple of months and can tell you that compared to 144 fps even 60 feels borderline choppy afterwards. Telling people they can't see anything above 30 fps is ludicrous and any pc gamer will tell you otherwise.

I'm disappointed that our companions still simply stand around. Cassandra is hanging around training dummies and... what? Admiring them? Sure, we had to suffer beneath Garrus's endless optimization, but at least we could say he was doing something.

They did say that they make an area progressively more thiers as time goes by.  Plus, I believe in one of the early videos it showed Cassandra watching some soldiers train on those dummies, we just didn't know it was skyhold at the time.

Hahaha, set an alarm so I would be able to watch the stream live, woke up naturally half an hour or so before and thought 'Sweet! Didn't even need it! I'll just close my eyes for a second....'

But I'm all caught up now so just some thoughts on what seems to be everyone's main gripes:

- Cutscenes. I assume that we didn't get cinematic conversations with Cole & Vivienne because it was essentially just flavour chat. Josephine's cinematic revolved around a plot point, but as far as I could tell Cullen's did not, which leads me to believe that we still have cinematic conversations for particular moments with our companions.

- Drums. I only noticed them because I was actively listening for them having seen a comment or two before I watched it, and even then it turned straight back into background music so for me at least it wasn't really an issue. Surely better than Dog barking :P

- Casual clothes. Now I generally don't care about this stuff but man, even I thought it looked ridiculous. Like a nude morphsuit. You could cut out like 80% of those mounts for even one more casual outfit, surely?

Otherwise I loved seeing Dorian as well as Leliana and Josie's interaction and I think Cullen may have started growing on me a little bit too. I also noticed one of Viv's convo options was 'DO you know Fiona?', which leads me to believe she isn't killed in the initial blast as many speculated.

And Elu, no more screen grabbing spoilers! I don't have the necessary willpower to not click on them and read every single word twice.

Wait, does the Inquisitor get a balcony?  I was too busy looking at everything else to notice, so my thoughts when he spoke to Vivienne were.."Hmmm, that's a nice balcony you got there Vivienne, I want that balcony..."

that's not what i'm saying at all. it doesn't matter if how many FPS it is, The moving image is an illusion, the illusion is maintained via keeping a stable frame rate, choppness is a result of shifting frame rates, which breaks the illusion.

Am I the only one wondering why there is so much lush green vegetation, and even deciduous broadleaf trees, in an area so clearly well above the alpine tree line? Probably. :P

I'm sure the answer is :wizard:

1) Trees in Thedas are not trees on earth.

2)  How do we know it is above the timberline?  Its a good drop in elevation based off the mountain tops from your room to the courtyard, combine that with the fact that most of the trees are growing against a wall with what would appear to be a western exposure and it is completely conceivable that the plants and vegetation could be growing like that in a sheltered courtyard.

Sorry, little OT my dendrology background is showing up.
