God, i hate it when people bring out that stupid myth. The human eye can 100% see the difference between 30 fps and 60 fps. 25 pictures per second (for movies) is just the minimum that is required for the brain to interpret the succession of pictures into a smooth motion.

24 fps actually only became the standard when audio was added to film, because it required a fixed framerate. Before that, framerates in movies ranged from 12 to 26 (usually 16). Silent movies are projected at an increased framerate (and in fast forward) now. I haven't been able to see a 16 fps projection, but I can assume it must be nauseating. :P

My 2 cents on the FPS debate, the next game that gets made or ruined by the FPS rate for me will be the first.

Because video games render perfect frames with no motion blur or artifical motion blur, we're much more sensitive to low framerates in video games. To me, 30 fps is unacceptable in a fast-paced game.

eh, personally i cant tell the difference between 30 and 60 fps, or even 20 and 60....but hell, i also cant tell the difference between 720p and 1080p...

Normally, I wouldn't either, but it becomes apparent when put side by side.

Being forced to a casual wear in your keep, no matter the circumstances, is nitpicking?

Dude, i don't like having people decide these things for me.

Then you shouldn't play video games dude. Actions / decisions will always be finite and never enough for the end users, no matter how many they put in.

They are not the same people though.

Which just goes to show, you can never please everyone. There will always be some party who feels aggrieved by some decision. And of all the things to be most annoyed about, seriously that is the laughable. My character could wear a paper bag in Skyhold for all I care, it doesn't change the gameplay at all.

Can't wait until the game is out and I no longer have to read these forums with people complaining that the grass is too green or the sky is too blue..... And yes..... I have to read the forum to get my daily DA:I fix.

Anyway, it's obvious some development choices will be made, regardless of how we feel, and that's fine. No one is dictating how they should model their buildings, or armor. The point was that this tiny type of optional customization, could be left to us.

"You shouldn't play games", is an over-generalization, that i don't get at all. I did say "these things", after all, i don't expect to have a say in what goes in or out of the game, but i would like an option to at least customize if i'm gonna wear a casual attire in my base, in a game that customizes even the drapery.

Of course you can't please everyone in general, but making an option out of that, does please, almost everyone for that subject.

Hey look, I can use bold font as well. See what I did there? Is it hyperbole, yeah perhaps.

There is a laundry list of features people want in the game that will not be there. Bioware have to release the game as per EA's timeline. And even with more time, I bet extra clothes / toggle / whatever for Skyhold would be right down the bottom of the priority list. Maybe in future DLC it will become available.

I hope if you do decide to buy the game (because omitting that one feature does seem like a terrible deal breaker for you), that you can walk around Skyhold and enjoy it for what it is.

It's hardly a deal breaker, and i have pre-ordered it anyway. Skyhold in general was gorgeous, and i'm sure we will all like to take strolls in it just for the fun of it.

It was just... weird i guess.

Hey Inquisitor, you can customize your throne, your bed, your carpets, your banners, your garden, your drapery, and a looot of other stuff as well, since this is about customization!

Oh yeah, you're stuck in that outfit in here. No normal armor either.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Then again, there is that video that shows the Inquisitor in armor normally strolling through Skyhold, so there's that. I'm just confused, and i think Cameron answered to whether or not we could have more casual attires, but didn't say directly what happens with the normal gear.

So i'm just assuming, that it's mixed. We probably don't choose what to wear, and we appear according to occasion. Some times with armor, and when we are more free to plan something, on casual clothes.

Or something.

ROFL. When you put it like that.

I'll admit I thought the casual clothes looked rather bland to begin with, but as the video went on I didn't care due to the amount of things we can do in Skyhold. When I first heard about it, I didn't think it would be my cup of tea. I figured me and my party would constantly be on the road, getting up to all kinds of skullduggery. But now I can see myself spending some time in Skyhold.

My best guess is that the videos with armor were either earlier builds, or perhaps since it looks like the Inquisition finds an old castle and fixes it up, the armor videos are when you're first exploring its ruins, before it's actually Skyhold.

I'm guessing that having a standard outfit for the Inquisitor at Skyhold helps with cutscenes, since they seem to be a lot more involved than they were in Origins and even DA2. If the cinematic designers know exactly what a character will be wearing, they can fine tune important animations without having to worry as much about clipping or collision. I suppose they could just have you wearing the casual clothes when you activate a cutscene, but no doubt people would throw an even bigger fit because immersion ("I only have sex while wearing full plate armor wtf BW, I'm never buying another game from you again").

They could have added a few reskins, though.

They still might add some other costumes for Skyhold (as DLCs?). Or it will be the first mod anyone will create, I am sure of it (despite inability to mod that engine).

(For me the most strange thing in that video still Cullen's outfit - WHY would he wear feathers? Why? It's like he killed Anders, skinned him and now proudly wearing his hide as a trophy).

I like the casual wear since it's nice to be in something different but not the boring grey pjs . ur running this place and that's what u wear ??? it shows zero aspects towards ur characters personality and standing . if in being 'evil or a bastard' I want the clothes to match the personality in a way or playing a good character some bold bright colours or if I even like the orleasan fashion I can walk around in an over the top ball gown . they boast about customization of the keep to little details like curtains but grey pjs is the only choice ?

Pretty sure you can wear your armor, it's not a forced piece of gear on you, seen lots of gameplay with them showing off Skyhold with their gear on. Mr. Cameron said that there was no other casual gear, he didn't say "this is the only thing you can wear". In Hawke's mansion, you could either wear the robe or your gear, just had to un-equip it iirc.

Doesn't really make any sense that you can choose everything else, but you can't wear armor in your own hold, that'd be the first thing I'd ask as a designer, myself and as a Tester, I would have complained about it. DA is big on role play, pretty almost 99.999999% positive that was considered.

Anyone ask via tweet yet?

Because, this would stop all these posts on omfgidontwanttowearpjsinmyhouse and calm some hearts.

Colour me surprised, guess it's pyjama only, which makes no sense at all in a RP stand point. I take back my sass and appologies.

@Cameron__Lee @Mike_Laidlaw @Lazertuna Just a q about the recent stream: can we wear armour in Skyhold? Is the casual gear mandatory?

@user @Mike_Laidlaw @Lazertuna Casual gear only I believe

Oh no, thats sucky. :( Have the devs said we can recolor it at all? Or will it always be that grey...beige color? Gosh I really hope we get more options in a DLC or patch or something... We need more armors that represent the various races and factions... My Dalish inquisitor is going to be less than pleased with having to wear that!

I didn't see feathers I saw fur, It matches his lion or maybe it was a bear shape helmet that also has fur trim I believe.....

You mean like this?

blah_zps6069308f.png

When I casually fold my arms they end up under my breasts, they don't hover awkwardly in front of them. If I want to recreate her pose I have to draw up my shoulders, which is not a relaxed pose at all. Then again, very little about femquisitor's animations seems relaxed, from the constant butt wiggle to the standing pose with her feet behind each other and the arms hovering at 45 degrees.

Anyway, if there is only one casual outfit, why does this pose end up so odd? She could lower her arms and shoulders, but it looks like they have to take into account the possibility that there's something else there (armor?) that prevents that. I'm not sure if it would look better with a male character. Maybe another unfortunate translation of animations for one gender to the other?
