I do not get why they force you to wear the bland pajamas?
Aren't you meant to be the leader of the Inquisition? You sit on a throne? Why not give us something colorful, regal looking, etc? Especially when most of the companions wear something fancy, it just looks so out of place to be stuck in a very drab looking one-colour form-fitting piece of clothing, it just looks like nothing a King/Queen would dare wear.

It's a common, simple pose and they managed to make it look odd and unnatural. I'm getting tired of doing a double-take when I watch the female PC execute some kind of movement, be that walking, jogging or folding her arms across her chest.
@Dutchess: You're not folding your arms across your chest... if your arms are under your breasts. That would be your abdomen - no? Or perhaps what you do is hoist your chest up with your folded arms?
Which would make the problem in that picture - that the physics of her breasts aren't so dynamic as to be hoisted during an arm folding... which "I'm" okay with, but I suppose might be major to someone else.
Oh, no i really have to walk around in that ugly outfit all the time i am at skyhold.
Who thought that would be a good idea, just let me wear my armor.
"Gosh, this sure looks pretty here and i was able to customize almost everything! But i just wish they would force me to wear something incredibly ugly in order to highlight the prettyness of the environments a bit more.", said no one ever.
All that pretty armor customization.
And we're forced to wear that in skyhold.
It'd be funny if it wasn't so sad.
Atleast it doesn't give a dirty Hugh Hefner vibe ![]()
Unlike DA 2 >_>

I would disagree.
Unless the animation/pose mimic what you do in real life it will seem off to the indvidual playing.
It breaks immersion if details isnt done right and how someone folds their arms isnt exactly difficult to see how one does that right or not.
The human brain collect the big chunk and whole first once that is down you then notice details.
It means when you see someone at a far away distance you see the whole body profile and once they come closer you identify them by height, walk and posture.
It stuff the girls working at Bioware should seen coming and fixed a long time ago if that is something that is in retail.
Details like that can be really offputting and breaks immersion as whatever the brain will see you can fool it if you do some things correctly and then you will accept other stuff that isnt really needed to get exactly right.

Err... not really, no. Abdomen is lower, as far as I know. I end up with my lower arms above my abdomen and under my breast. And I'm not doing a push up trick either. Perhaps with an ample bossom you'd get that effect, but my arms fit in that space in between just fine, and so should the Inquisitor's.

This height, I guess. That's a more normal pose. Inquisitor really draws her shoulders up to get her arms that high.

I've tried to stand like that and I can do it, but it's not something you'd naturally do.

I'd guess it's because they are computer models and not real people....?

You saying that everyone 'poses' the same? I disagree, I've seen people pose just like that example is before, usually the body language means they are very defensive, pissed off or someone is staring at their rack. You are assuming that the inquis is in a common simple pose, in this case they are not. Prove me wrong.
There's a difference between animations that they will use everywhere and that are relatively generic (that awkward arms-across-the-chest has been a staple since DAO) and the more specific animations you get in race/gender specific cutscenes and interactions.
I think I would like those 'pajamas' in red or blue...

Inquisitor is pissed off that Cullen and Dorian are playing chess?

I've seen the staple arm-crossing before in DA and ME, but it never really looked so strange to me as it did in this scene. Maybe because it's usually brief? I don't know. I did recognize quite a lot of recycled animations and poses. A lot of DA2's fetch quest NPCs stand like Vivienne in Skyhold, for instance. Funny that she didn't have the same odd stance as the PC and Cassandra.

This is actually fairly close to how I naturally cross my arms, and I do it a lot. My arms are folded in the same place on my chest as the Inquisitor's here - I rarely rest my arms under my breasts because short arms + ample bosom = hard stretch to make.
The main difference is that my shoulders are relaxed, rather than hers raised here. However, it's something I can easily do, and have done when being defensive or shrugging. I will admit it does make her look a bit standoffish here because of that, though.
I think it partly comes down to a matter of an individual's proportions (what's normal for me is likely not normal for you, Dutchess, and vice-versa) and the imperfection/awkwardness we still see in 3D animation, at least as far as games go. Replicating fluid joint movement is really, really tricky and time-consuming. I'm far from a pro, but I've done a bit of modeling and rigging in 3DS Max and it's certainly a time-consuming, fiddling matter.

Yup, she has come to talk to Cullen and it's a good signal for Dorain to skedaddle.

^Yes, I guess that would have been much better.
Edit: there! I knew it used to look different!

This seems much more relaxed. No problems here.
I don't know. I don't cross my arms like that and everytime I see the inquisitor the only thing that comes to mind is this:
I didn't see feathers I saw fur, It matches his lion or maybe it was a bear shape helmet that also has fur trim I believe.....
Well, I know it's a fur, because of general character design (not to mention Cullen is fereldan and supposed to ware fur). However because of lightning or resolution or anything it does look like feathers:

Feathers on him? He's the traitor, just like Anders!
Gotta say, I think the casual outfit looks nice. I like the gold detailing on all the grommets. The color choice was a bit unfortunate when she was outside walking alongside the walls, though - she really blended right in with the stonework.
That being said, I wish we had options and I indeed view it as an unfortunate afterthought that we don't.
@Dutchess: I'd honestly argue that's you're abdomen - and I'm not trying to be a pain.
It also reads more submissive to me... you can call me a chauvinist if you'd like - maybe I'm being one without trying.
Just noticed you used "relaxed" for the Aveline one... actually a much better term.
But I think a woman who was trying to be more authoritative would do what the Inquisitor is doing.
Maybe I'll try finding pictures of military women when in uniform with their hands across their chest.
