Hey!

I've recently seen the computer specs required for DA:I to run and I am uncertain about my computer being able to handle the game.

So I wondered if there will be any kind of demo available to be able to test the capabilities of my computer with DA:I.

Not that I know of, but there are a handful of "can your PC run DAI" threads. Can't link from my tablet but the people there will help.

I have been asking around and the answer has pretty much been that my computer is right at minimum or slightly below which has left me with the answer being "wait for launch".

Which led me here.

There isn't a Dragon Age: Inquisition test demo that you can try out. There is however Battlefield 4 which uses Frostbite 3 that DA:I is using. Both share the the same system requirements, but no demo for that either. You can try YouTube and search for your graphics card running battlefield 4. Some videos on there do show what results they get out of it.

Note that DAI seems to have higher mins than BF4, though. My backup rig (dual-core X2 4000, 6670 vidcard) runs BF4 at low settings, but is below the DAI mins.

I'm worried that even if I got Radeon Crossfire set up it won't be able to handle it. My video card is the Radeon HD 7850, but a friend said Crossfire would only work with another 7850. I don't know if it's good enough for Inquisition. It's already pricey.

A lot of the time, you can get away with being slightly below the minimum if you crank some things down, ie resolution.

Your friend is actually wrong, it's not restricted to another 7850. If you do get another card other than the 7850 but higher than it. It would actually lower itself to match the 7850. However, newer AMD cards don't use the crossfire external bridges and actually does its crossfire through the PCI-E bus. So for those cards it's not compatible. For maximum performance I'd match the same card with another identical one, since another card won't have to lower itself.

So what you're saying is I should pair it up with another 7850.

People having a doubt should post their config, i'm sure more knowledgeable poeple will give them advices, or help dertermin (for exemple) how your courent GPU performe in comparaison of the GPU requiered.

People shoud remember though, that meeting the minimum does not mean playng the game in good condition with good graphics, and choosing to buy a game when under the minimum, even slightly, could cause a non support from devs / editor, as the minimum requierement is also the legal limite to meet in order to get official support in case of problem with the software.

To meet the minimum, you must meet them all, you can't have more memory and think it fill the gape for a lesser GPU for exemple.

There's really just no reason to spend the extra money. SLI and Crossfire work best with identical cards anyways. So if you can get the same model you already have that's the best option. That said, a 7850 should be able to run it, because unless I'm mistaken the minimum specs list the 4870, and the 7850 is several steps more powerful than the 4870 HD.

To put it simply, Dragon Age seems to be an absurdly well optimized game based on the recommended specs, which is to be expected with multiple studios dedicated to working on Frostbite 3. If you have any of the most recent three generations of GPUs or CPUs you can probably run it. If you have any of the most recent two generations you're teetering on the edge of recommended at the very least.

I hope so. I'm still new to this PC gaming. I don't know anything about customizing my PC for gaming.

best to help is test bf4 or get your hand on a cheap copy and run battleship fight. The only thing is if you have trouble running it you may not be able to run DAI, sinces its a different type of game, newer, and seems to have alot more going for it then a scripted linear battle. Also Capcom is the only I know thats done test demos lately. Thing is from what I have seen and what most are saying unless your like 3 years behind you should be alright.

There's this website where you can get an overview of your PC compatibility to the game:
