I've only perused the reactions to the latest stream on Skyhold and companion interactions for a brief bit and opinions are very different on lots of issues, however if there's one thing that's almost unanimous (from what I've seen) it's the annoyance with the jarringly loud and out of place soundtrack present there.

Most people seem to find it annoying, as I do, and I'm wondering if that music is set in stone or if we can get one of those clock radio things Shepard had that will change the tunes in our home to something more peaceful. It's the place we come after battle, so why does the music here act as if we're in the thick of it?

I didn't have my volume up very loud, so I couldn't hear it.

Hopefully the music can be changed or isn't final.

Seriously, I'd really like something more relaxing.  I hope we get to change it or mute it while we're in Skyhold.

Casually strolling through your garden planting seeds?

*DRAMATIC DRUM BEAT*

Playing chess and engaging in playful banter?

*DRAMATIC DRUM BEAT*

Picking the color for the drapes in your bedroom?

*DRAMATIC DRUM BEAT*

It sure gets the blood pumping!

If someone with twitter could ask them this it would be great, because I can see this being a big problem for me. I was getting anxious just watching the video. That music doesn't make any sense for that environment, it should be the exact opposite, something relaxing. I don't know what they were thinking when they chose that song to be honest.

+1 for registering surprise at the Skyhold ambient music.

It's probably too late to change it, but wow those drums are massively jarring. It sounds like a war's about to start in the middle of the herb garden.

there was some different music for awhile in it. Drums are definitely out of place though in skyhold if that was the actual music (and not the background music that played before the stream start)

I would prefer a more quiet and classical track with e.g.violins. The actual music sounds too much like in a Dungeon.

I guess it's going to be good for the first playthrough when I will play very very late at night , Skyhold drums will keep me awake and alert.

Seriously it just doesn't make any sense. Talking to different people (merchants, companions, nobles) and planting plants and to have such an ambient music playing in the backgorund. The only place it really fits is the war-table and it should stay there.

I would prefer strings only or maybe strings with some wind instruments (flute or something). I don't care about tone of the melody (joyous or sad) just spare my ears that *DRAMATIC DRUM BEAT* all the time. :P

They said (albeit in an offhand way) in the livestream that you can't change the music.

So uh, yay. Chess has never been so exciting.

Well, if I remember correctly DA games have always had the option to turn the music off while leaving other sounds untouched. I'll probably end up switching the default music off and play something soothing from my own music collection in the background. Still, it would be wonderful if the inquisitor could collect music tracks from all over the game and choose what to play in Skyhold. Maybe we could find sheet music in our journeys? Too late to add, I know, but maybe a mini DLC?

I can't wait for my mage to study in the library to the sound of an advancing army. Great for when you need to focus on your studies.

Quizzy: "Leliana, glad you are here.  Take an executive order. find out where all those drummers are and toss them in the dungeon!"

Later.....

Quizzy: "What the maker?  I still hear those drums!  Did you not toss the drummers in the dungeon?"

Leliana: "Oh, you did not tell us to take away their drums.  Oh and we have lost the keys to their cells and can no longer get at them."

I am going to cast my voice to this as well, those drums are TERRIBLE. It feels like your preparing for war all of the time. Having a lovely chat with Cullen? *DRAMATIC DRUM NOISES* Getting your sexy on with Solas? *DRAMATIC DRUM NOISES* Planting some seeds in the garden? *DRAMATIC DRUM NOISES* At most the drums should be restricted to the war table. Hopefully we can mute music while in the keep.

Think it would be great if the music was replaced with something like the ambient sounds of Highever.

I think they might just have it there for now. I'm sure they have music fitting for each scenario.

Maybe they're just trying to hype us up for the game? If so, it's sure working on me! I'm stoked!

I can't wait to run around on my Bog Unicorn!

Hmm I wasn't even thinking of that. I was just thinking of the horns and the hammers of blacksmiths that you heard as Fergus's troops were getting read to go to Ostagar.
