I think they might just have it there for now. I'm sure they have music fitting for each scenario.

Maybe they're just trying to hype us up for the game? If so, it's sure working on me! I'm stoked!

I can't wait to run around on my Bog Unicorn!

"OUT OF THE WAY PEASANTS! THERE IS A WORLD TO SAVE!" *DRAMATIC DRUM BEATING*

They've nearly gone gold though.

Yeah, I hate to nitpick, but companion interactions are such an imporant part of why I love these games, so having mood-killing battle drums playing the whole time is kind of a big problem for me.

Even if we can mute the music on options (which I'm pretty sure we will be able to do), how annoying it will be to do that every time you enter and leave Skyhold. Because I like the music while exploring so I don't want to have it on mute all the time.. sigh, I really don't get it. Skyhold is huge right? So you can spend a good hour running around, crafting things, planting herbs, talking to people, and all the while you're doing that you will have to listen to the same annoying drums over and over again?? Hopefully someone will be able to mod it.

I doubt changing an audio file is going to take more than a days work, we aren't asking Bioware to completely rewrite the sound track.

If they could at least take it out for the cutscenes maybe... why are there war drums booming for chess? I'm sure there are some members of the dev team who had misgivings about the track and are feeling vindicated by the fan reaction to it.

Honestly at this stage I'd rather they use the time they've got remaining to squash as much bugs as they can instead of listening to us nitpicking.

That being said, maybe they could patch in a "jukebox" feature if you will, where you'd request specific music in Skyhold. Surely the Inquisition will have their own musicians at some point :)

Maybe the bard in the tavern can sing off the roof? :D

Either I'm deaf or oblivious, but I didn't notice the music being out of place at all.

I wouldn't mind the drums if they were used as you enter Skyhold, a couple of huzzahs wouldn't go amiss either.

Otherwise it was noticeable, in a bad way

Oh god dat drums. Feeling like you are constantly in combat mode :s.

Tavern music is kinda strange aswell xD. I was expecting something lively but felt like Inquisitor just walked into Hespith's lair :D so creppy :P no wonders why Cole hangs there hehe.

truth be told i tend to turn the music off in games, even if they have really good music.  its a bit immersion breaking for me to be wondering around the forest with a full orchestra. different for puzzle games or RTS when your not "really there" but in RPGs not so much. the Skyhold National Taiko Band rehearsing on the roof is the perfect example. I like it. just not everywhere.

I have to admit that the drumming music did bother me a little, it sounded more like battle music then relaxing at home music. I liked the tavern music.

Is DAI gone gold yet? if not I really hope BioWare would change Skyhold's background music to more calm, relaxing and hopeful music. Just imagine how awkward romance scenes would be with *DRAMATIC DRUM BEATING* playing in the background.

It didn't really bother me, but I could see after 20 hours it might. We'll just have to see, because its way too late to change something like that, I'm assuming. :)

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I liked the drums. You're in a fortress, so the martial music makes some sense.

Not that something more relaxing couldn't be cool as well. Something similar to the track used in the movie Gladiator while Maximus walks around the Roman army camp after the opening battle could have worked.

Skyhold may be a fortress. But it's also the one place that you can relax a little. Sure, the world is ending, but everyone needs some R&R from time to time. The pounding drums detract from that a lot, and I'm sure after some time they will become plain annoying. Worst comes to worst I'll just disable background music in Skyhold, but that would be an annoyance too.

I haven't watched the video because I'm trying to keep myself from seeing too much of the game. But some of this is starting to worry me. Perhaps having the war drums only in the....err...war room, is the way to go.

I've only heard it for the duration of the stream and already found it annoying. I can't imagine playing the game being in Skyhold a lot and listening to those drums all the time. Someone please kill those Orc musicians! I most probably am going to turn the music off on my second visit to Skyhold already, after having decided whether I am really going to do that. But being a musician myself I get annoyed by any kind of music really quick when I don't like what I hear and even more so when it is constantly being repeated.

Don't be too worried. The game looks great. However, I believe the music should always serve as an emotional anchor to the story and as of now, it is not in sync with the tonality of certain scenes around Skyhold.

This was always one of my favourite ambient themes in DA. It has that military feel to it, without sounding really blaringly intrusive like the current Skyhold theme seems to be. Would have liked something like it, tbh.
