DA has always had the option to turn down music separately from dialogue/ambient noises right? So at least if it gets grating you can turn it off and put on the soothing music of your choice?

Very likely, but it seems like a pain in the ass to do that every time we go home.

Casually strolling through your garden planting seeds?

*DRAMATIC DRUM BEAT*

Playing chess and engaging in playful banter?

*DRAMATIC DRUM BEAT*

Picking the color for the drapes in your bedroom?

*DRAMATIC DRUM BEAT*

It sure gets the blood pumping!

Gets me pumped, and hopefully my inquisition to go kick ass!!! Grab some ale boys, and then let's go kick ass!

i'm hoping they were just playing that for the stream. perhaps there's no ambient music at all for skyhold, and they layered that over because they thought it would be too quiet for the twitch?

there were points when they seemed to manually turn it down--for some dialogues. so...yeah

There are different songs in the Tavern, possibly tubthumping.

Yeah, definitely. But if you know you're going to be there a long time--upgrading, chatting with everyone, etc...might be an okay solution if they are that off putting. Obv not ideal, but! At least you have that option.

truth is, i was hoping for some great background music. i'd hate to have to turn it down. i'd prefer to have it like the camp background music in dao. adds something wonderful without overtaking the moment.

and it's soothing and beautiful.

The ambient music was a bit off-putting, but I have to say the bard songs in the tavern sounded excellent.

The drums certainly don't strike me as a great iconic theme that will stick with me from all the time I have to spend in Skyhold, but they don't really bother me either.

Yeah I was kind of hoping they'd stop and loiter there for a moment. I wanted to hear the bard song.

And see that's what I'm wondering. Like...maybe the war drums are there because there will be many events that we actually have to defend our keep from invaders or something.

Then why hasn't anyone put our minds to rest yet? There were some people asking on twitter but no response. And I doubt they wouldn't add any music at all to Skyhold.

I also hate the idea of going around Skyhold without any music at all, but I just know I won't be able to listen to those drums for more than 2 minutes. It would be fine for a battle, the music is not bad, but seriously, it's so ridiculous when you're planting herbs, decorating Skyhold and chatting happily with your companions at the sound of dramatic drums. I just can't grasp it.

Remember the good old days with Resident evil's Save rooms? when you entire; no zombies can follow you and a calm soothing music plays, convincing you that you are in a "safe" room

you save your game, check your items, heal yourself and relax then head out, this feeling of being safe and at ease must be captured in DA:I the game is just too good to miss this

I know it's late for this but i still say this most be a priority, you guys -bioware- must work on patch to fix this even if it misses the release day by weeks, this game will be played for many years to come, so your hard work will not be in vain

They're pretty busy and undoubtedly getting slammed with tweets. I am assuming the answer is that its constant and doesn't change, but I don't think they are not replying because of any lack of desire to confirm things...just crunch time + very demanding (and I don't mean that in a bad way, necessarily) fanbase!

I don't really expect a reply. I just figured if this was a big enough issue for enough people, this thread would eventually draw notice. I'm sure they've already heard plenty of fans mention this to them on Twitter or in the twitch chat (assuming they actually dare to read that wasteland of savages).

I won't lie; this is such a small thing, yet at the same time so annoying. Those drums were driving me mad during the stream when I could barely hear them over the devs talking. Can't imagine how it'll be when it's just by itself.

The switch to the woman singing while in the tavern was excellent though, as was the singing itself.

Yeah...with any luck there will be an option to turn music loops off, and with any luck that will make the Skyhold bearable. But hey... I was really digging the tavern's music! I'm just not sure why the composer or audio mixer thought it would be enjoyable to have that music...in what I'm assuming is going to be the single most visited place (by the player) in the entire game...

The question about the music was answered in the stream today. At 34:54 Jason states "music can't change in Skyhold"

Oh, no. That means we'll just to hang out at the tavern more often. What a shame.

LOL, the bard has a different sounding voice, but I was thinking as I was listening to that section on youtube (over and over again) that I can't wait for Malukah to do a cover of it.

"Empress of Fire, in the reign of the Lion....eclipsed in the eye of the Empire..."  (that's what it sounds like, so far.)

I need all the lyrics to this!

While I'm not a fan of this infamous drums, I really like some people idea's about ambient music that similar to Highever, Ostagar it has military feel but not overpowered.

I actually love the drums.  Though I think there should be different music in areas like the garden :P

The music is fine on its own but having it just on an endless, short loop in Skyhold seems terribly obnoxious. I mean, you had those driving drums booming when you had the Inquisitor and Cullen having their little chess conversation. Really? Its not terrible music but it is terrible ambient music to have playing all the time for all of your camp/base.

I find the nitpicking amusing. They design music. You don't like it, you can turn it down or off. There's music I love and hate in both of the previous games, mostly love. But dear Maker that silly Dwarven theme in DA:O... Anyway, I don't expect them to tailor music to my tastes though, music is highly, highly subjective. Take a chill pill and turn it down if  you don't like.

Not telling anyone to shut it, but man I think some of you are addicted to your blood pressure meds.  ;)
