The music is fine on its own but having it just on an endless, short loop in Skyhold seems terribly obnoxious. I mean, you had those driving drums booming when you had the Inquisitor and Cullen having their little chess conversation. Really? Its not terrible music but it is terrible ambient music to have playing all the time for all of your camp/base.

It just feels like I'm looking at a product very late in the Beta when everything was finished except for the soundtrack, such that the game is still using a filler track.

This was always one of my favourite ambient themes in DA. It has that military feel to it, without sounding really blaringly intrusive like the current Skyhold theme seems to be. Would have liked something like it, tbh.

As much as I like a lot of Trevor Morris' new stuff, there's a case to be made that most of the Origins soundtrack would fit Skyhold so much better than those drums.

Okay I was so worried about this because everyone was making such a big deal about it that I skimmed through the Stream to try to hear the music myself without spoiling too much.

In honesty I'm a bit relieved. I didn't think it was nearly as bad as most people are making it out to be. While I would never select it as my favorite track from the game, it didn't really bother me at all and in fact took me a minute before I was even paying attention to it.

I feel like if little things like this is all we have to complain about when the game gets released this is going to be an amazing game.

Yah know guys it's completely possible the track just got 'stuck' after something dramatic and warlike actually did happen. Pretty sure that's happened in a few games I've played. I didn't notice it much but my sound was set pretty low.

The music reminds me of that bug in Skyrim where the combat music gets stuck playing. I hate that. I think I need to switch the music off every time I visit Skyhold if they don't change the song.

Casually strolling through your garden planting seeds?

*DRAMATIC DRUM BEAT*

Playing chess and engaging in playful banter?

*DRAMATIC DRUM BEAT*

Picking the color for the drapes in your bedroom?

*DRAMATIC DRUM BEAT*

It sure gets the blood pumping!

Do you think there's a servant following the Inquisitor around with a drum? XD

Cullen: Your move Inquisitor

Inquisitor: Very well *moves chess piece*

*DRAMATIC DRUM BEAT*

Cullen: uh..what was that?

Inquisitor: What was what?

Cullen: *leans slightly to the right* Inquisitor, there's someone with a drum behind you

Inquisitor: Oh him, that's just Wesley. He just follows me around to help make things more exciting. Watch *reaches for a cup*

*DRAMATIC DRUM BEAT*

Inquisitor: Pretty neat huh?

Cullen: I suppose but doesn't that get annoying after a while?

Inquisitor: Actually it's become something like white noise to me. Now I can't sleep , eat or take a **** without needing to hear it

Cullen: urgh *shudders*...your move, Inquisitor

Inquisitor: Hmmmm....*rolls eyes* More drum Wesley! Can't you see I'm thinking!

Wesley: Sorry Inquisitor! *DRUMS LOUDER*

Cullen: Maker my ears! That's it! I forfeit!  Anything to stop this infernal noise!

Inquisitor: I'm sorry Cullen , if it's really bothering you I can tell him to stop if you want

Cullen: Thank you! Now that we have some peace and quiet, we can get a chance to talk

Inquisitor: I'd like that. On an unrelated note I bought a mabari today he should be around here somewhere

*ANNOYINGLY LOUD DOG BARKS IN THE BACKGROUND*

Inquisitor: You were saying?

Cullen:

Yup, it was very distracting. I guess they wanted to make my trip to the Skyhold privy as dramatic as possible. I hope we get the choice to switch to something with less annoying Hollywood-noise in it.

*Sigh* I am starting to hate the ever-present cacophony of pounding drums. It's like everyone on the north american continent has a fetich with those taiko drums.

Television can't go one second without adding the taiko drum noise. "Here's some paint drying. (annoying drum sound)

I blame Hans Zimmer :)

well, for the people who cant stand it, it just means you have to spend more time exploring and less time at skyhold to get away from it

I'm not going to avoid skyhold because the drums annoy me. I'll just mute the music until I leave

They said in the feed that the music can't be changed in  Skyhold. I must admit I never really noticed it that much.

Yeah the music was super annoying, way too repetitive. I'll just turn off music while I'm in Skyhold.

I'm less concerned about the music than the casual outfit. That really doesn't look good. It looks too modern and particularly uninteresting, and it's even more of an oddity because everything else looks fantastically impressive. With the color I associate "Early 20th century archaeologist" and the close cut pantsuit-like thing is incongruous with the setting.

I guess it's difficult to come up with something that's dignified enough for a ruler while also being practical enough to be believable as casual clothing. I may get used to it with a significantly darker coloring but I would prefer a less modern cut. Just a little less closely-cut trousers would probably help a great deal.

Honestly I tend to find that whatever the music is it fades into the background after a little playtime. I think a lot of this concern derives from watching people play the game rather than playing the game themselves.

Not a big fan of background music for Skyhold either. It wasn't that distracting but it just felt out of place.

I had so many hours of annoyance at the stupid Mabari barking in the background while I was trying to have a romantic conversation with Alistair. Then I found out it was actually part of "sound effects" and I turned it way down every time I visited the camp. Which was only marginally less annoying.

I see the same thing happening here, having to go through all the menus time and time again to turn down the music in Skyhold and turning it up again when I leave, or if I'm visiting the tavern because I want to hear the song there. It gets old fast.

Riiiight... Skyhold will probably be the most important place in the game. It's where you can develop friendships (and romances), where you'll plan future missions, craft your weapons and armor among other numerous things. You really think we should just avoid it because the music sucks? If they gave us a neutral ambient music, no one would be complaining. The music should be there to give you that special feel that you are at home, which is not the case at all. Nothing about that music says "welcome" to me. It's more like "run for your life, something is coming for you".

While I would have preferred something more along the lines of "Streets of Whiterun" for Skyhold's theme, the drums aren't bad by any stretch. The intensity of the beat might feel incongruous depending on where you are when it spikes up, but those spikes, when they do happen, never seem to last for too long. Otherwise, it's a pretty low-key, laid-back beat.

What might have been cool would be for there to be music that changes based on where you are (softer music for the garden, more "bardic" music for the tavern, etc.), but this is fine too.

I hope the Skyhold's soundtrack will change with the stage of Skyhold. For example: they are rebuilding Skyhold, so there is that drum soundtrack. When they finish rebuilding Skyhold, I (hopefully) expect a different (better) soundtrack.

The cut of the clothes I don't mind because I think all proper mediecal clothes and armour are nauseatingly ugly. The colour though?
